Gor Mahia turn attention to league

With the below par CECAFA campaign behind them, Gor Mahia will now turn attention to the local league which happens to be their last hope for a title this season.

Coach Bobby Williamson has said the team is putting CECAFA in their rear-view mirror and focusing on the next league game.

“We have put what happened in Rwanda behind us and are focusing on the task ahead. We want to battle hard to retain the league title,” said Williamson who guided K’Ogalo to winning their first league title in 18 years last season.

“Of course we are all disappointed with the performance we posted in Rwanda. There are some matches that we should have won given the dominance we enjoyed but we have picked so much positives from the tournament which we hope will be of great benefit for us in the league,” he said to the Nation.

Williamson stressed the need to stay positive and realize that they are not at the top of the league.

“You cannot count points you have not yet won, and as it stands Tusker are on top of the league table. But of great consolation is that they have played three matches more and are only two points ahead of us.”

Bruno vows to apply lessons

New signing defender Charles Bruno though dissapointed with the CECAFA campaign has said that the team learned some important lessons.

“I am happy at the chances we got but disappointed that we didn’t advance but we pick a lot of positives from the tournament which will be pivotal as we turn our focus to defending the league title.” he said to futaa.com

Bruno also saw some positives especially with regard to their performance against APR which beat Gor Mahia thoroughly in 2009

“Things did not go much as we had hoped for but generally as a team we tried our best though we feel we could have done much better. Most people didn’t believe in us more so in the APR game but they were shocked at what we pulled only for bad luck to see it end in a draw.”

Crucial stage

The league is at a crucial stage. The next two weeks they have four matches in a space of 12 days. After facing Sony, they will only rest for four days before taking on KCB at the same venue.

Five days later they will host Ulinzi Stars again at City Stadium before clashing with Bandari on September.

The potential title decider will be played in September 14 when Gor Mahia face league leaders Tusker at Kasarani.

Williamson knows that things will not be easy.

“I said that the CECAFA tournament came at the wrong time. Now we have a busy schedule ahead of us and I just hope we will avoid injuries. If we come out of the next three weeks unscathed, it will be great to the team and to the fans.”

This comes at a time when there are unverified rumours of a go slow at the Gor Mahia camp due to non-payment of allowances.

There is also the fact that some players are beset by injuries, specifically Patrick Oboya and Innocent Mutiso.

Fan Support

As Charles Bruno said, fan support is crucial to the players.

“We did not have as many fans there as we are used to back here but of course we are thankful for the few who stood with us there and at home, he said.”

Once again as has been said on this column before, fan support will be crucial. Fans will need to invest time, money and moral support in the club. These next two weeks could make or break the league campaign. If you are a true Gor Mahia follower then this is your time to show it.

We will be there to give the moral as well as financial support like we have always done. EC please give the players the CECAFA allowace if it’s true that they are yet to get it. We are now walking on thin ice and the difference between success and flopping is can be very real. Let’s get rid of all types of distractions and march on

  • most of Gor fans are selfish they expect players to do wonders and when a player gets an invite for trials they are the first one to say no to player exit, look at serenkuma he got an invite for trials at Kaizer but he could not be released by EC. i dont think sserenkuma will agree to renew his contract at the end of season begging on how ungrateful we have been to him, you ask yourself why Rama did not renew his contract it is the same predicament he suffered previously.

GOR OF 2014 have never played impressive football let the truth be said as most of players are weak n tired already, this begs the question why is fitness trainer sleeping on job, let him wakeup, second leg isnt going to be easy as teams are working on tactics to stay afloat. GOR SHOULD FORGET OLD FOOTBALL THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING they should change this system 4:3:3 because it is predictable and known by other teams

The players never attended training today due to lack of payment of winning allowances.

Let us not castigate the players but we know that if we win the TPL then we get close to 8m and this should assist paying the players.

who is castigating players dan ….?why do you always like being on the right side always ….?that is the reality on the ground and without telling bloggers here who do you expect to contribute to the club and yet they don’t know what is going on….? stop being a pretender always we are our own enemies, players are demanding for their right and i have not said anything wrong i have just informed bloggers on the site,This what some kogalo fan has just said…………..I know most of you have been asking what happened to the sponsor I promised….alot did happen….I with the office went for more than 6 presentation which were all successful and we hoped and believed that all was well….Anelka can tell you that all we were waiting for was signatures and even the new kit design with the sponsors logo was out…We even printed samples….All signatures went through upto the last one…the approvals were left now to the company MD and chairman then the ugly head of politics showed up…Cord vs Jubilee. …the MD feared what his Jubilee counter part would take it if he sponsored a club that is persived as a Cord stronghold….With his fear our hopes to this sponsorship just died….We will not give up though. ..We are still pursuing other people who belive in Kogalo dream….but what I can easily tell you guys…selling Kogalo is so hard…brands fear us…then politics …then us! I wish the boys well….God bless us God bless Kogalo………This is what PHELIX ODIWUOR JALANGO has said and yet with people like dan who want people to believe that everything is right in the club,Dan we will never go anywhere with people like you in this club who are not ready to say anything wrong and are always burying there head in the sand.

@Titus that is dan that you always read his blogs here ,always pretending to be mr clean and would not like to have any dirt on him.Dan you have to know that gor is a community thing and this people must be informed since they are the club supporters,so if you dont want titus to say that the players missed training it is as if you are running away from the reality and it will come to haunt you on saturday when we are being walloped by sony.what you could have asked is how can we help after all the guy has not talked badly against players.sometimes you have to take side but not always kukuwa kati kati to seen holy.

@Titus Odhiambo. I read somewhere that you must never say everything. What you have said above could (I repeat “could”) be correct but sometimes wise counsel tells me you should not say it. The analysis there especially CORD/JUBILEE has the possibility of creating animosity. Some narrow minded people who rely on hear-say are likely to misunderstand your intention and create tribal or party or social animosity. Let us use this blog to create friendship and harmony and this can be achieved by keeping some comments away from it. Otherwise I respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their opinion but some of the opinions can really cause harm than good.

-We need a sponsor very badly. We can’t recruit without that. How can we? If we are having problems paying salaries of the ones [players] we have on the roster… Things look grim, he said.

    That’s what John Pesa said.

As for the just concluded CECAFA we boast that TPL league is above that of other countries yet our performance says otherwise. Now it appears we’re learning from lower quality leagues.
None other than the Legend Sianga also questioned the coaching / tactical aspect.
The biggest worry though is financial stability coz if as we claim Rwanda was a learning experience believe you me these GM can’t retain any player who shows potential.
Its time to think outside the box if sponsors are not forthcoming than let’s try monthly membership contributions say via a cooperative method.
I challenge admin & the branch official were visit this site to pick of the ideas floated here.
Finally I have noted that finally most bloggers have finally accepted that GM has been on a fast slide since capturing the league.
GM’s problems are management, then coaching and next quality of players are should be sorted from the top.
JUST PUT FOOTBALL FIRST AND ONLY FOOTBALL FIRST.
IF WE DON’T PULL OFF THE LEAGUE WIN THEN NO REGIONAL/CONTINENTAL COMPETITIONS NEXT YEAR.
SO FAR BW HAS “WON” ONLY THE 2013 TPL WITH MUCH HELP FROM LOGA.
LET’S PRAY VERY HARD COZ ONLY PRAYERS WILL SEE US THROUGH.
BABA TRAVIS HOPE YOU GETTING BETTER.

Gor Mahia has a sponsor!!!! Me

I have decided to sponsor my beloved K’galo to the tune of kshs.500.00 per month payable 1/4ly in advance. I.e kshs.1,500 in by 31st Dec, 31st Mar, 30th Jun & 30 Sep every year.
The following are the conditions for my sponsorship.
1.That my contributions be accurately maintained in an electronic register and should GM eventually become a company or cooperative my contribution will be converted in shares.
2.I get a preferential home ticket fee of kshs.150 per home game.
    3. I get preferential secured sitting ( & enterance) during GM’s home games & continental matches. I want that even if I arrive 30 min to the start of a home match I am guaranteed my vantage/allocated seat as member be it at the terraces / VIP. I don’t want to mingle with non-members.
    4. The EC must present yearly audited accounts by a known auditor of high repute by the end of the 3rd month after the year end.
    5. I get first priority of purchase of available merchandize (even in the dealership in case am interested).
    6. During elections only bona fide members of say 6months or more can participate as voters or vie for positions. This must be clearly safeguarded in the revised constitution.
    7. In future I expect a leaner EC of 4 elected officials.
My sponsorhip is kshs.6000/annum (if I restrict my to contributions alone but totals to kshs.8,250 if I attend our TPL home matches.
If Admin, EC (themselves included) are able to convince another 9,999 persons total GM sponsorship will be kshs.82,500,000 from 10,000 members
If they manage convincing 50% the sponsorship will generate kshs.41,250,000.
If they perform dismally and convince only 2,500 GM still raise kshs.20,625,000.
Yes Lakini mini si weki my hard earned pesa kwa agulu motuch (3500100).

We will never get a sponsor in the near future because our house is not and will never be clean. No serious sponsor will talk to you when ‘tax evasion’ issue is hanging over your head. With the dreaded Jubilee/CORD politics we will never get a local sponsor, never. The only sponsor we can get is only foreign, but the way foreigners are quite strict with their tax policies, they will never touch Gor. NOT NOW.

Ooh laa la ……WHAT A CONSOLATION AND AN AWE INSPIRING MOMENT YAWA,,,!!

I have been A.W.O.L for a while but “While I was away……., Gor Mahia football club exited the on going Kagame cup due to an inept technical bench that lacked tactical acumen to play the regional club championship and make the KENYAN nation PROUD. Bure KABISA.!

I thought BW built his CV in UG by perennially and consistently mastering the tactics of playing and winning such kind of tournaments. What happened this time round?. Or was it the the so called “PRESSURE” from OGANGO TRAILER.

We may console ourselves with all the flimsy reasons like what I have been reading on this
site, but the truth is that BW is better of landing the H/STARS job……. Cause if he fails to
deliver to our expectations despite all the prevailing conditions, then there will be no reason as to why we should not send him packing. THAT IS THE BITTER TRUTH TO SWALLOW.

WHO OWNS K’OGALO?”…. “TAFAKARI YA BABU”

  • Gormahia will never get a sponser as long as Raila is still the patron.we need to send the entire office packing and let the profesionals run the club not politicians e.g Raila,Pesa, Rachier and others.People like Titus,Anelka,Felix and others have interest of Gor at heart but they cant succeed because selling Gor brand is difficult. Most of the comunity clubs in africa for example Kaizer chiefs(SA),Orlando pirates(SA),Asante kotoko(Gh),Dynamos(Zm),Esperanse(TS),Simba(Tz),Yanga(Tz) e.t.c are run by professional that is the reason why they are successful.

Leave Baba alone, the rest can go but Baba will remain patron. After all being a patron is just ceremonial.

    Reply
  • Ombeng thats the mindset we are talking about. Typical rhetoric attitude. A patron should have guarded the club from all these happenings.
Secondly I have come to realise that this office can not work with change. I wrote to the chairman and copied to the Organizing secretary back in April/may giving them a 7 pointer on how the club can stand financial times like this, no courtesy of a mere reply. Its amazing!
