Gor Mahia 2 Bandari 1

Gor Mahia beat Bandari 2-1 in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Thursday 19 March at the Nairobi City Stadium to move three pints clear at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table.
Gor was the better side from the start with Abondo, Kagere, and Olunga having attempts on Bandari goal early in the match but they could not find a breakthrough in the opening minutes.
Kagere goal
Gor’s persistent pressure finally paid off after 23 minutes of play as striker Michael Olunga fed his strike partner Meddie Kagere who calmly slotted past Bandari goalkeeper Wilson Obungu on his full debut to give Gor a much deserved lead.
Kenga goal
The hosts’ lead however lasted for only five minutes as former Nairobi City Stars midfileder Lawrence Kasadha drew the Dockers level from a set piece curling the ball from the edge of the area past Boniface Onyango on Gor Mahia goal.
The two sides left for a breather with scores level in a half that Gor would have scored more goals had they been more clinical in front of goal.
Abondo goal
Gor started stronger after the break making inroads into Bandari penalty area the pressure paid off once again on 62nd as Michael Olunga was brought down in the area and Ali Hassan Abondo stepped up to restore Gor’s lead from the spot.
The defending champions pressed on after the goal but could not find another goal a result that saw them bag three vital points and they sit comfortably at the apex of the Kenyan Premier League table.

Was not able to catch the game due to unavoidable gikmachalkamano. But still i cant fail to notice that all the three goals we have conceded this season are from set pieces.Good news; we are hard to break from open play,FOR NOW .Bad news; we are committing costly fouls close to our 18 yard box.This can prove deadly and decisive in a tight and crucial game. Solution; Cut out the sloppy tackles and fouls in our backyard. Someone tell me your Man of the Match?
for me the 2 fullbacks were ok.kagere showed his mettle..abondo and aucho played below their normal high standards…gattuso was his usual self,industrious.the rest of the team was average!!
and some fans were in their usual self-destructive mode for trying to intimidate the ref after the match for sending off Nutal. not sure if some of you have noticed but our coach at times tries to ‘interfere’ with the game when the ball goes off near his area.

I would like to appreciate the entire team and the technical bench the good work they are doing even thought there is difficulties. Secondly, I would like air my opinion to to coach in the front line department in that,he should concentrate on the one two set-pieces in order for them to penetrate the opponent defence easily, another area is middle field in that they do lost concentration quite often,otherwise the game was fine
I think these stewards r fleecing gor of much needed finances by allowing pple to enter after bribing them with 50 bob. Why dont EC use security firms to man the gates or maybe they r acomplices in that practice. I was snatched my entry receit by a steward & he did not tear it as is reqired. I think if rachier leaves Gor today then this team will not last 2 months. His leadership has failed to make Gor self sufficient.
If fans are bribing their way into the stadium
Then the EC should make Gor Mahia matches to be 50 bob and VIP to be able 100. And then have a Sacco monthly contribution of 500 per month.
@ Blogger well said. 10,000 sacco members will give GMFC kshs.5M/month in exchange 4 a match entry fee of 50/100bob.
The Kshs.5M won’t be subject 2 “statutory deductions” and translates to kshs. 60M/year.
Make the price for non-members 200/-&500/-for terrace &VIP respectively.
Move GMFC matches 2 the more comfortable Nyayo stadium & watch the financial transformation of the club. Crowds will be 15-20k per match.

Nuttall is a good coach. The team wins more convicingly than with Williamson. Now if only they could transfer that form to international matches. I can understand losing to Esperance at home. But losing to that useless Congolese team that applies which craft. That I have difficulty coming to terms with

Away from yesterday’s match – did Gor manage to do late registration to the likes of Kagere as promised or it was just a story? We have a very touch match against Congo and I wished we could amend the names forwarded to CAF to include some of the quality players left out.
As for the case of Nuttal’s sending off, he (Nuttal) needs to cool down. As Dan has noticed so is me that at times when the ball goes out from field of play (of course near our coach), at times he kicks it away further or confuses the opponent and that is not right. We know that he is a quality coach but like any other human being he has his weaknesses and one of them is that one.

All late registrations only play in the next round, that is if we qualify…those are the CAF laws my friend.
Kudos 2 the team/TB 4 this victory despite the distractions. Surely if u r paying a player shs.75-150k monthly why burden the club with extra costs of 300 ati training allowance when training is part & parcel of their work.
Just have & pay the salary & match winning bonus on time.
Like I said the wage bill will be our biggest hurdle towards a locally successful 2015.
@ M.O.O is so right Jakom has made GMFC totally reliant on one person HIMSELF and in the process the club is not self reliant.
