Gor Mahia vs Shabana called off

Gor Mahia vs Shabana during a GoTV shield match

The much anticipated Jamhuri day encounter pitting Gor Mahia and Shabana that was dubbed the Nyanza derby has been canceled.

“Kisumu Stadium is not available because the destruction meted out on it during last match of the season and during final journey of the late Homa Bay senator Otieno Kajwang’ has not been fixed.” said a source to goal.com

This once again brings into question the lack of adequate security at matches.

However Shabana are determined to go ahead with the match.

“We are of the view that we play the match in Nakuru or Nairobi because we do not want to disappoint our fans. The date will definitely change but we have to agree on the venue and confirm its availability before we can announce new details.” said Shabana chairman Jared Nivaton to goal.com

Since they were promoted Shabana have been eager to build on their fan base and sell merchandize. This friendly against a rival was an important cog in building excitement amongst their fan base.

Walusimbi stays

Contrary to earlier reports, Uganda Cranes full back Godfrey Walusimbi will stay at Gor Mahia. There were earlier reports that he was due to attend trials at AS Vita for Congo DR. This is one bit of good transfer news at a time when the Gor Mahia fan base has faced a torrent of unwelcome news.

CEO Lordvick Aduda also announced that the club is working on replacing key players who have left or are in the process of leaving.

“We are following up on a player from West Africa but playing in Tunisia and two other players from within East Africa,” said the source.
“Ther e are good players who we believe can fit into the boots of those who have left or maybe leaving but then again, it is only in the early days of the transfer window so we can’t speak with finality. The one thing I can assure you is that when our house is raided, Gor will respond with equal or better force.” he said to the Star newspaper

    ITS OFFICIAL !!!

Tanzanian giants Simba SC have already agreed terms with Gor Mahia’s David Calabar Owino over his transfer to the club.

The club’s head of committee in charge of transfers Zachary Hans Poppe speaking to kawowo sports has admitted that he has indeed held talks with a Gor Mahia official and the player who is expected in Dar es Salaam over the weekend to put pen to paper before the transfer window closes on Monday 15 December.

    Done and agreed

-We have already held talks with David Owino and agreed with his club Gor Mahia to sign him, Poppe told futaa.com while speaking from Kigali, Rwanda.

-I will know when the player will come to put pen to paper once I return to Dar es Salaam but all had been done and agreed between the two parties before I left for Rwanda.

    Not aware as the CEO

However, contrary comments have emerged at the club whose Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Omondi Aduda denied of having reached any agreement with any club over the player.

-I am not aware as the CEO. No issue has been brought on my desk over David Owino’s transfer neither have I heard of Simba approach. Should they go ahead to sign him then we are entitled to suing the club at FIFA because that will be player tapping which is unacceptable, Omondi told futaa.com

I think Calabar should go now when gor can get something out of the deal. It’s also good for the player. It’s unethical to hang onto a player who wants to better his life

gor mahia fc doesn’t sign players to get something from them….. they are always let go for free. I can’t remember the day they exchange a player for cash. anyway, that’s life. blessed
