Gor Mahia vs Sofapaka in FKF cup final

In the FKF cup final, Gor Mahia will face off with Sofapaka who recently beat Tusker in the semi finals. It will be a repeat of last years final when Kogalo edged Sofapapa 1-0 thanks to a goal by Edwin Lavatsa at the City stadium.

Gor Mahia will be looking for redemption after narrowly loosing the league title to Tusker. It will also be an opportunity for Gor Mahia to earn a ticket to continental football and redeem themselves after the disastrous campaign in 2012.

Logarusic Wary

Coach Zdvarko Logarusic has expressed caution : “Sofapaka played very well against Tusker and we cannot therefore afford to underrate them. I’ve always said they are very dangerous on a good day,” Logarusic said.

“Our preparations for the match are going on well though we have some small injury worries on some of our players, notably Dan Sserenkuma and Solomon Nasio. Hopefully they’ll be well before the match.”

Sserunkuma Back

According to a press release by the club website, dangerman Dan Sserunnkuma who suffered a groin injury in the semi final match with AFC Leopards has passed a fitness test and is back in training.

This is good news for the club and its fans as the club will need his goalscoring exploits to crack the solid Sofapaka rear guard which held Gor Mahia scoreless the last time the two teams met in a league match at Kasarani.

Match time and location

The match will be played on Tuesday at 7pm at Nyayo stadium under floodlights. It will be televised live by Supersport.

At Nyayo stadium? Will Sofapaka collect the stones on our behalf? SSMB?

  • I was wondering why Kevo ws missing from the HS squads but now he has been included so let him show the coach tomorrow what he can do. All the best boys.
As fans we should know that the destiny of the cup is already determined by the Almighty. All we can do is to hope that it’s ours and let’s play like it’s the last game on earth. But in all fairness let’s not pressurise the boys and also know that a soccer game can go either way, no draw for tomorrow

I urge Sofapaka players not to behave like players from another team who vented all their inadequacies on a mere towel. Kindly leave our goalkeeper’s towel alone.

I hope we’ll do just fine. Sometimes we learn the heard way. I just mean the loss of the league cup to Tursker was so disheartening. We picked the pieces against Efusi over the weekend which shows we are somehow beyond the nightmare of losing the cup on the last day.

Jakoyo its okay we may be seeing inadequacies in some players but i advise that we need to keep our ridicules to ourselves especially hours to an important match like today’s. Its very important too to realise that even teams considered among the best in the world do several recruitment every season viz Barca, Real, Chelsea, Man U. There is no written rule that GM must be perfect! I also think matters of tech nature and players have long been left to the tech bench for development’s sake.

Let all in support of GM keep our cool and celebrate a win or accept any otherwise result.. but the best for Kenya shall be the team that wins not the one declared good by men at the terraces.

@ Bill Wabz if wishes were horses even EFUSI could have at least won a silverware this season and rode on it like beggars but apparently ball hudunda pande zone mbili za kiwanja. Statistically accept that this season that GOR has performed well with all the top contenders starting with AFC Vs GOR ( Draw, lose, lose), TUSKER Vs GOR (win, lose) and SOFAPAKA Vs GOR ( lose, draw). So be factual in your wishes and absorb the shock waves after the match.

We shall summarise the operation one game at a time this evening with a win. I would have been much happy if we were to meet Tusker but seams M5 read our mind and did the most honourable thing (bow out) and spared himself the embarrassement. Anyway we shall meet next season. Go……….! K’ogalo Go…….! the energy is back.

I wish K’galo an emphatic win.Rasta, Kevin and Love-A-Star we nid creativity like last time out.

I will briefly revisit the hooliganism issue.
I have noted with gladness how our police have quickly brought the chaos in Eastleigh under control. The best thing was watching the plain clothes cops ARREST thieves in the act and bundle them into the waiting maria.
I therefore suggest the our EC totally disband the GMFC security and give the cops the sole responsibility of security during our matches.I suspect the police during our matches must be under some funny instructions that’s why not a single rioter has been arrested so far.
