Gor Mahia vs SoNy encounter postponed

The match between Kogalo and Gor B aka SoNy Sugar which was slated for this weekend at Afraha stadium Nakuru, has been postponed indefinitely. This follows protests by SoNy officials who disagreed with the KPL decision to move the match from Awendo to Nakuru.

KPL had moved the much citing the lack of a perimeter fence at Awendo green stadium. But SoNy officials were adamant that they had hosted matches against Gor Mahia before and could do the same right now. On Thursday, there was an angry demonstration in Awendo by Gor Mahia fans who were protesting the KPL decision. These fans have been waiting for several months to see their favorite team, only for KPL to pull the carpet from underneath their feet.

Gor Mahia for their part had already travelled to Nakuru and it remains to be seen whether KPL will re-imburse the travel expenses. As for the Sugar companies, Chemelil and SoNy, it is difficult to understand why they cannot spend some of their considerable resources building a decent stadium with a decent perimeter fence. Building a decent terrace and a perimeter fence will not be a major financial hit for such a company.

  • Why all these confusions? Kogalo is to face backlog of matches and this is unacceptable in the modern football. This is a big letdown by KPL and SONY. The match can be played anywhere and the best team will win. Can KPL foot the bill our fans had incurred in travelling to Nakuru?

  • It is the home team to decide the venue, oguda let sony use their venue. Gor fans at the countryside also want to watch their belove kogalo team. Let sony host kogalo at awendo.

So who is doing what against who? I smell a rat. How is Kogallo expected to handle the backlog of matches? Whats a foot? Some one please investigate. If Sony wants to play at home why not, why would KPL want to move the match yet there are thousands of adoring Kogalo fans all over Migori and Homabay counties who would want to see the home and close but would not afford to go all the way to Nakuru? Silly game, this.

There’s a well calculated move to frustrate Gor….and we need to make noise…Sofapaka have caught up with their matches what is so special about our games that there’s always a reason not to play…matter of fact I put this on my gradma’s grave that if it was a case where Gor Misbehaved they would HAVE MADE US LOOSE THE GAME IN ONE BOARD MEETING

  • This people are calling us for a demo, back to the street. Let them tell us when this match will be played hopping they will not do the same in the match involving AFC.

  • SONY IS NEVER GOR B

Please allow me to disagree with our online editor of this forum. He allege that Sony FC is Gor B. I agree that Sony is found within the larger Nyanza where most players from the club originate. But to insuniate that our mighty Kogalo is Gor B is a big slap on the face of our fans.

Our fan base is unrivalled here in Kenya. If the recent signings is anything to go by, then you will appreciate that we do have deep pockets. What’ more, we have attracted the highest sponsorship deal in club history in kenya. The 38 million kenya shillings sponsorship from TUZO have left all our competitors green with envy. And when we meet on the field with Sony , i guarantee, we shall have no mercy with them.

Hahahaha…….why do you become so agitated when a game is postponed? Please and i repeat please, give the KPL CEO, jack Aguda the benefit of doubt. Why do you impute improper motive on him? Does he have any axe to grind with Gor? NO. You will appreciate that KPL is among the best managed leagues in Africa. That’s why they were able to secure the biggest sponsorship deal with South Africa’s pay TV channel, supersport amounting close to one billion Kenya shillings.

Is anyone out there from Sony reading this? Nothing can stop the mighty Gor especially when the 2011 KPL title is stake.

    Watch this space!

  • There is a positive outlook to the postponement of Gor games. I feel Zico should take advantage and use this window to train his new signings to form a formidable team. Also he should use this period to improve his midfield play. I believe with the addition of Moses Odhiambo (from Tusker) and Roy Okal should bolster our midfield and with the players working around Collins Gattuso i see no reason why our strikers (Lavatsa, Ochomo and Moses Odhiambo (Lucky Dube) should not find the net on average 3 times per game for the remainder of the season. Viva Mighty Gor. KPL Trophy 2011 is ours.

  • sony is right, let someone take resposibility for not having the facilities around the country. but let everyone know that we gor funs should not be held responsibly when no other facility can accomodate us. sony can have kisumu stadium us home ground and we will get soccer developing in that part of the country, there is already an airport and easy to access. where is the kisumu city council

I agree that Sony is right in insisting to have and hold tightly to their birth right. Surely where was the kpl when they sanctioned Awendo green stadium as home base of the side(Sony).

The ground at Sony is one of the best playing surfaces in the country though..

i dont see any reason why the much could not be held in awendo because in awendo we have both kogallo fans and sony fans.sony and gor are brothers and brothers dont fight so allow the fans to enjoy themselves.

  • the management of k’ogallo should also come in n insist to play sony at the venue of their choice, they r the home team and have a right on the venue,we will suffer fatigue now that we’ve chosen to take part in fkl cup, let’s not b seen as being favoured by any one.

lastly can s’body shed light on the whereabout of kipla n macheda?lets not adapt the system of using players n dumping them for no good reason,i still think the decision to offload the likes of jak’ambare was wrong, these players stood with when we didn’t have sponsorship and their commitment and hard work brought the fans back to the stadi and finally the sponsors came calling,we should atleast give them a season or so to prove themselves.
