Gor Mahia vs Tusker friendly June 16

Gor Mahia are due to play Tusker in a friendly match at the City Stadium on June 16. It will be a good way for the team to prepare for the second leg of the Kenya premier league. Reports suggest that Dan Sserunkuma has been training with the team as has his compatriot Mubiru from Kamapala City Council. The match will be an opportunity for both teams to try out new signings.

Coach Zdvarko Logarusic will return on Tuesday June 12 after a lengthy vacation. He hopes to pick up where he left off at the end of the 1st leg. The team seems to have finally picked up his system and the performance improved towards the end of the 1st leg.

  • Have the EC taken a que from the bloggers. My only suggestion the the match should have been outside Nairobi to grow our fan base as observed by Mwakio and Nganga.

    2 Questions for EC:
    How coach Logarusic landed back
How much did the village dance raise coz i’ve observed this EC engages in a lot of funding raising from fans yet we are never informed how much is raised.

The friendly with Tusker is a very good idea that will enable us assess our current form. Secondly, I wonder why in many occasions we keep players training for numerous days before signing them eg.Dan Sserunkuma and Mubiru. Same thing we did for Moses Odhiambo(Lucy Dube) last year. My question is if you make someone to train for one or two weeks then you fail to sign him how does it feel? Anyway we’ll come for this long awaited friendly match. Kindly avail e-tickets so that we can start purchasing them online and let us maintain our green jerseys and not the blue shown in above photo- that’s why we are called ‘The Green Army’. If we have to change then our white written in green colors are better

@ODUOR 12 GM can not allow themselves to play the friendly against Tusker in a place where they will not attract fans and engage with them to gauge the new signings and the match fitness of the players. They also need to raise funds to pay the two months in lieu of salaries for the eight players who were released earlier last month.

I think playing a friendly of this magnitude at such a time is a good idea for both teams and we should accept that all in all it will be a useful to inject competition for the sake of pride.

I have no idea if the “KIBERA HOOLIGANS” night took place may be the youth wingers can tell us more about the back street bash.

  • TRUTH BE TOLD,Gor mahia and AFC leopards are milk cows which are used by wannabe politicians to milk fans dry while players sweat it out in the field with no financial security.CAN YOU IMAGINE SAY SIMBA SC ORGANIZING A FRIENDLY AGAINST AZAM FC MIDSEASON? Lets call a spade a spade, the officials we elected have no time to overhaul the constitution and turn the club into a professional outfit.what they want to continue doing is what nyamweya does with harambee stars -milk the fans while they are at the helm and leave when they are kicked out or have eaten their fill.those who have eyes can see that should the current officials leave then there is nothing sustainable or enduring they will leave behind other than the adidas and tuzo jerseys.even today the club relies on friendlies and the chair to run its operations despite receiving millions from brookside which should have been used as seed money to build the foundations of perpetual financial stability. The greatest stumbling bock that we have at the moment are fans and officials who cannot differentiate between 2 simple words-community and tribe and use the community word to fill their stomachs while shielding themselves in their ethnic cocoons when confronted with allegations of theft and financial fraud.THAT IS WHAT PREVENTS GOR MAHIA FROM BEING MENTIONED AMONGST THE CONTINENTS ELITE.

  • Now that the coach is back let’s complete the signings and move on. Since we have identified the players let’s take the ‘risk’, recruit them and move on. After all we have been victims of great players flopping at GM. The examples are all there for us to see. The average players have instead blossomed at GM. All I ask from us fans is to be patient with our new (and even old) players. At times we actually intimidate them, maybe unknowingly. On the Tusker friendly let’s welcome it as it offers better compe than the ??? ?sharpshooters that we always train against.

  • IT IS NOT THE NUMBER OF FANS BUT THE PROFILE OF THE TEAM

Whilst I laud every effort by the technical team to gauge their new signings, it is the primary duty of the EC, by advice of technical team to choose what team to invite for friendlies.

In doing so, the officals are killing two birds in one stone. First, they want to gauge the performance of players while the same time making good money from ticket sales. For instance how many people will come to watch Gor vs Tusker? Or if they jog their mind abit, Gor vs TP Mazembe? Your guess is as good as mine.

Officials should not have fear of the unkwon. If we invite such high profile team, what if fans fail to turn up, if we sale our ticket at this price, will the fans buy and so on and so forth.
It is high time our officials become courageous in their decisions, a move I believe will pay dividends at the end. This habit of playing slum clubs without a name for themselves is myopic, cowardice and clear lack of vision.

lack of transparency and accountability makes GM a very unattractive option for players and other sponsors. That way,we will never realize progress. You just have to look at the openness of clubs abroad and you will get my point

  • @Barefoot Bandit,Mcosweto and fred Odhiambo, I think our chairman Ambrose Rachier knows KPL rules very well and I know he cannot break the law which he participated in writing. The players have been training with Gor Mahia on trial basis. This is unlike the past recruitments where players were signed witout subjecting to trials.

Bloggers, please let us not make conclusion on matters involving both the technical bench and Chairman. We had agreed that technical bench will be fully responsible for vetting and recruitment of players. EC will only negotiate with clubs after satisfaction report from the technical team led by coach Zdravko Logarusic.

Below is the report from futaa.
    Dan completes move to Gor
After weeks of speculation, finally, Gor Mahia FC have completed their first signing of mid-season transfer window with on-form Ugandan international Dan Sserenkuma joining on a two and a half year deal.

The striker has left Kawangware-based side City Stars FC to join K’ogalo and he’ll be available for their Saturday’s friendly match against the Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker FC.

    Great signing

Confirming the news to futaa.com head coach Zdravko Logarusic, who arrived in the country yesterday (Tuesday 12 June) from his native country (Croatia), said that the diminutive goal-poacher has been training with the team for the past few days and he’s happy to have landed his signature.

-I am delighted to have Dan in the team. He’s been impressive at his former club, but we are still looking for another striker to bolster our attack.

-He’ll be with us for the next two and a half years, said Logarusic.

Sserenkuma joined City Stars last season after featuring for Express FC and Victors FC in the Ugandan Super League.

I don’t know what’s happening in Gor. We are told Dan Ssenkuma has already signed with Gor the next time City Stars says Gor have not spoken to them about the said player and next he is just on trials. How do a player sign with another team when he is still contracted to another club. In fact the chairman of city stars says that he received only an sms from Ambrose Rachier saying Gor is interested in the player. Can Rachier confirm this is true and if true is this a respected club like do it’s business?

If you want to know GM FC in its true colours and mentality just attend the so called AGM and you’ll get to know how it is and what its ‘real’ members would have it ‘meant’ to be.

  • Phew at least coach Logarusic returned back.

The irony of GMFC and its finances.

Have you note that like Kenyan politicians who are in a constant “campiagn mode” some members of the EC are always in a “constant fundraising” mode mara mpesa business number, discos,e-ticketing. The irony is it has been revealed that 60% of the total gate collections of KPL are from K’galo’s home games.
    Where is the money going?
While i totally support the mpesa idea I need to know if i can purchase my annual membership or what happens to my contribution coz these stories of unpaid players dues are really disheartening.
EC stop this craze of effective and efficient collection of funds while its a dark secret on how FUNDS RAISED ARE BEING USED.

  • Delay in release letters angers dropped Gor Mahia players
Updated on 13/06/12 | By DENNIS MACHIO

The nine players recently released by Gor Mahia are blaming the team officials of failing to honor their end of the bargain and are now planning to storm the club offices on Friday to demand for their release letters.

The players say the delay in accessing release letters is costing them chances of getting other clubs in time since the transfer window is fast approaching its closure.

The players have also accused the club of not paying them their arrears and are now calling on the officials to act swiftly or they will camp at the club offices on Friday until after their release letters and arrears are settled.

However, in a quick response, Gor Mahia secretary General George Bwana on Wednesday evening assured that they are aware of the requests from the players saying they are dealing with the matter urgently and with speed.Bwana also said they have already settled the players’ one month salary and only owe the players one month arrears (May).

“We have been in constant talks with the players and we are working urgently to ensure they all get their release letters and send off packages. It is very unfortunate this has taken long but we call on them to be patient as we try to ensure this matter is settled before the end of the week. We have already paid them one month’s salary but we are optimistic by the end of the week they will receive their remaining amount.”

Gor Mahia is a decent club and we cannot throw away our players just like that, they served the club and they deserve what they are asking for.” Bwana assured.

“We know the transfer window is approaching fast and we would love to ensure they get their release letters so that they can pursue their careers elsewhere. We understand their concerns and we are working hard to ensure they get a decent release from the club without abrasion from either side. We just want to deal with both issues at the same time once and for all, where we pay their salaries at the time we are giving them release letters.” Bwana concluded.

Instead of all these speculations about signings where is Mr. George Bwana to shed light? He used to talk too much before the transfer window opened but now I’m only seeing too much guesswork. We need an official statement on signings. In other words who will speak on behalf of GM’s EC about the new signings other than these comments we are seeing ?

Today all of you are speaking from the same platform as one man OGANGO Trailer has been tireless pointing out. When I said that we have HYENA’S within the EC who are hell bend to fleece our pockets at every opportunity that arises, those of us who are perennial hypocrites are now shading their bloody crocodile tears; while at those calling moments they were up in arms defending the status quo and branding me all sorts of insults with the very worst unprintable names. YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!! G.Bwana and FAIZ will eat everything and leave this club financially bankrupt.

Now they are waiting for the friendly on Saturday against TUSKER and they will use the FERRARIVO DE MAPUTO Tickets. Mark my word!!!! ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY!!!

  • Something does not add up. We read of four players already approached and thet the desired number is 25. Yet at the same time we cannot be able to pay the other players we laid off. These negative behaviour is hurting the GM brand. While we talk of signing all the best players some like Ingew are already through with the process. Kwani how much our EC like to be quoted in the press but not delvering on what they talk about!!
