Gor Mahia want Zico to choose

In a story posted by EA Standard, Kogalo secretary Nick Arumm has demanded that Harambee stars management board make a long term decision on coach Zico. Arumm demanded that the board make a decision after next weeks match against Uganda.

Arrum said on Wednesday they could no longer allow the coach to handle both the club and the national team.

“It is proving very difficult for the coach to concentrate on both responsibilities and it means one has to suffer. Unfortunately it is Gor Mahia that is suffering.

“We do not want to go on like this and so we are asking the board to decide on whether they want to keep him. The coach has a contract with us and he ought to be with the club especially now that we are facing some tough and important matches ahead,” he said.

On Monday, the board chairman Evans Kidero came out to underscore his support and confidence in Otieno and announced that they were working on giving him a longer contract. He however, failed to state when possible this will happen.

Zico is now in his second stint at Harambee stars. The first was as assistant to Bernard Lama. He has also doggedly held onto the Kogalo hot seat with a difficult eye despite being twice accosted by fans. If there is one thing thats admirable about Zico its his bravery.

Sec Gen N.Arrum hope the club had the contract with the COACH please we give him his time.Harambee Stars is a National Team.As far as I may know the problem MIGHT not be the coach nor players but there are some OFFICIALS.When you call a meeting we will let you know more.I keep saying KOGALO is a brand itself which when we have good MANAGER,sky is the limit.

ZDS BRAVERY? I WOULD SAY GREED AND THE OFFICES INDIFFERNCE.WE ARE HEADED BACK TO THE LATE 90S WHERE IT IS THE LEOPARDS FANS WHO USE TO MAKE NOISE AS WITNESSED OF LATE.SOON YOU WILL ONLY BE FINDING KINA OSOTI IN THE STAANDS,THIS IS KENYA AND NO ONE WANTS TO ASSOCIATE WITH A LOSING OUTFIT.AS MUCH AS YOU MIGHT DESPISE ATARO HE IS ECHOEING WHAT FANS HAVE BEEN SAYING SINCE THE RANGERS MATCH.FROM WHAT I SAW ON THE NTV INTERVIEW,THE CHAIR HAS THE KNOW IT ALL ATTITUDE AND WILL ONLY WAKE UP WHEN HE REALIZES HE HAD NO CHANCE OF WINNING THE SEAT HE IS BUSY FIGHTING FOR.MOST FANS HAVE NOW DECIDED TO KEEP OFF AS THEY HAVE BEEN CALLED NAMES FOR POINTING OUT WHAT BERRY CONFIRMED.AS LONG AS FANS ALLOW LOCAL CLUBS TO BE USED AS LADDERS TO POLITICAL OFFICE,THEN WE BETTER BE READY TO BE THE WHIPPING BOYS OF THE CONTINENT.NO WONDER WE CANNOT EVEN HOLD ELECTIONS TO ELECT OFFICIALS TO RUN SOCCER IN KENYA-HOW PATHETIC.

Apparently both Kogalo and Harambee stars are competing for Zico’s services. This is too funny. Maybe we should let Harambee stars have him.

If ZD truly loves Gor Mahia the way he claims then he should have gone voluntarily.

  • what type of contract did Zico sign. I heard a far fetched theory that ZD was not on the bench when we were “ingwed” 3.0 because he had some AFC and GOR players at camp and this would be conflict of interest to coach Gor against AFC
Was NOT there a conflict of interest clause in ZD surficating contract.
    ZD deyo gor

  • . . . . . .Hehe, when I think of Gor Mahia, I feel sufficiently philanthropic like the Speaker of National Assembly, Mr. Marende, . . but thinking of Zico as the coach causes me heartaches and mental attacks like a dog that has chewed plastic bags: therefore, “fare thee well Zico” . . . . .it is time for someone else to get close to the players and motivate, inspire and bring the best out of them . .. .and this person is not Zico!

As I type away this opinion piece, the much vilified man is leading a Harambee stars onslaught against Uganda Cranes in Uganda tomorrow.

Gor Mahia secretary Nick Arrum is just expressing a personal opinion. I agree that holding the roles at the national team and club can be tasking but not possible. For instance Jacob ‘ghost’ Mulee was both the Harambee stars and Tusker coach. The difference is coach Mulee had little pressure from both the officials, sponsors and fans.

I do hope my comrades will not take this vendetta across the border. EVen if we loose tomorrow, it is not because Zico is the coach.

It is worthy to note that the big game tomorrow , for the first time has caught the attention of President Kibaki who pledged cash rewards if Harambee stars win. The Rt. Hon. PM RAO- an ardent football fan is leading fans to Uganda to cheer our national team. Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is reportedely to be in the entourage.

Let us not forget our heroine the late Prof. W. Mathaai gonna be laid to rest tomorrow. It seems even in her death, Mathaai has planted one more tree by expressing her wish not to be burried in a wooden coffin. Let us all turn up in large numbers to pay our last respects as she heads to her final destination where she will be cremated. May the Almighty God rest her soul in eternal peace.

what is the point of neglecting a club that has contracted you pretending to train players that you don’t intend to use any way. zd must go.period

Pareyio ole lelerue how far did Ghost Mulee go? Where is he now?

Indeed brother pareyio ole lelerue, your comparison of Ghost with ZD is quite apt because they share one major thing in common and that is INEPTITUDE.

My biggest question is: what is Kevin Ochieng doing in the National Team? And worse still, in the starting line up?

How does ZD expect Mike Barasa to score minus Kisuya? Why field Kevin while Kisuya and Waruru are on the bench?

Our boys would have done better against Uganda under a true tactician. We blame it on poor fielding. However we actually proved that Uganda are just an ordinary team despite the big talk from their Bob Williamson.

  • Does Zico deserve to be Harambee Stars Coach with the national team being eliminated from finals of ACN? I do not think so.

There we go again another DRAW when a win was needed, neither did Angola lose as per the mathematical calculations of Ziko n his clique. As some pointed out Kidero is subtly frustrating GM(n helping AFC) by danglingly this H.Stars contract issue now n again, why can’t our officials read btw the lines! Finally note that we fans r focussed n don’t want new stories officials STICK TO THE 3 MATCH ULTIMATUM!!
