GORMAHIA.NET bloggers present cash to players

The Nairobian last Wednesday December 10th hosted Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia FC to a luncheon at the Standard Media Group Center along Mombasa Road, Nairobi. During the afternoon treat, the city’s fastest rising paper awarded the former African Champions Sh100,000 for the good performance.

The Nairobian’s Managing Editor Charles Otieno together with George Okoth, Standard Group’s Head of Production also gave the players a cash token on behalf of Gor Mahia’s blogger branch,

The event was organized to launch a partnership deal between the Standard Media Group and Gor Mahia FC in a SMS driven campaign seeking to mobilise fans to raise funds for Gor by texting the word GOR to 22840. “The Nairobian is a paper that supports and promoted local sports. We would like to instill a culture amongst Kenyans to give first priority to the local teams and sporting disciplines.

Weche Gor Tek but I now want to thank Jabilo/CEO and all contributors both in cash and kind. Guys we set a system whereby though we did not meet physically accountability and transparency was top notch and has not only been there but seen to be there by all & sundry. In future though I still want us to get an official receipt in such matters.
On a sad note I still maintain that GM’s EC is too bloated such that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. From the transfer fiascos some EC members are aware that players are leaving and probably brokering the deals while others are seemingly in the dark.

Congratulations to Oduor12 , Okoth Jabilo and other contributors for putting in place a transparent system, collecting funds from other bloggers and presenting it to the players in a timely manner. Note that Oduor12 posted updates every day.

I believe that those who had doubts are satisfied.
On another note it’s sad that with the CAF deadline fast approaching we have not made any single major signing. Even all our targets including K14 have opted for another club.
I still believe our EC has something they are working on. I actually pity them since all potential players believe that Gor is a super-rich team who can part with any amount quoted. This should never be the case. Let’s target up-coming players from the U19 and other teams and build them to be what we want instead of pushing for established players. The CAF championship should just be for our team to get the exposure but not to win, since we honestly cannot due to our meagre resources

@ODUOR12 we held a meeting with the team prior to the official event and informed them that we had two tokens appreciation to present to the club besides the lauching of GOR/Standard digital platform of SMS 22840 that will help raise funds for the club.

Our players together with some of theTB members present pleaded with us on the sidelines to give Kshs 100,000 cheque to the officials but categorically refused to the idea of bloggers hard cash being given to the office for official receipt and insisting that “HIYO NI ZAWADI YETU YA MIGUU” or otherwise it will just be part of what will pay their November salaries. Bloggers we had no options but to plead with the boys and truly that cash was their take home for the day. ODUOR 12 IT IS TRUE “WECHE GOR TEK”.

There is nothing to fear about K14 moving to Sofapaka. We won the league without him and there are many players that can fit his position. What is the disappointment for bloggers? The fact is that K14 is still a FISA player and Gor Mahia has no control over him.

    “WECHE GOR TEK”

Jabilo, sorry for the predicament but in my view Gor Mahia.net’s contribution should have gone towards the players’ pay for November 2014.
It will be VERY SAD if the same players stage a sit in or a go slow later that they have not been paid the November 2014.
Worse still is that members of the TB actually pressurized you not to present the contribution officially.
How much more money have they received this way?
Remember we will be the same ones calling for EC heads to roll and accusing the office of ineptness.
On this we must support the office, let all monies in future be channeled through the office, then hold the EC accountable for proper use of the funds.
Just maybe, just maybe Gor Mahia financial woes are coz the office doesn’t receive all funds officially yet it is the same office we expect to honour all commitments to players.

Thank you Jabilo for highlighting this.
Let ofis, fans & players work together and pull in one direction. Gor MUST NOT BE TURNED INTO A “tower of babel”.

I like this club” but I don’t like the way finances are being managed ……..personally if EC were to approach me as a person, i would even pay signing on fees directly to the player on behalf of the club. I have also been told and am not afraid to say this in public, gor mahia only sign players who are wiling to share their signing fees with ‘ Wenye club’ . ‘ Wenye club’ always demand a commission.

In future I would recommend the fans to come up with a fund that can finance signing fees for players directly and leave the rest to the EC ….

As much as we have financial woes I believe the team still has players with fire burning in their bellies to out perform the opposition. As much as Kizito, K14, Danny etc have left, and Calabar might follow suit the person we will find hard to replace is Danny. World wide good strikers are hard to come by. No wonder their cost is even higher. Defenders and midfielders are always easy to replace.
