Its Gor Mahia vs Jeshi La Kujenga Uchumi

The winner of SuperCup 2018 will play Everton again

The annual Super Cup pitting Kenyan teams against Tanzanian teams, will be held at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. Gor Mahia will kick off their campaign on June 3 against Jeshi la Kujenga Uchumi of Zanzibar. This according to goal.com The winner of the tournament will earn the right to play against English premier league side Everton at their Goodison Park stadium.

Full fixtures:

June 3: Kakamega Homeboyz v Yanga SC and Gor Mahia v JKU.

June 4: Kariobangi Sharks v Simba SC.

June 5: AFC Leopards v Singida United.

Gor Mahia vs Zanzibari sides

Gor Mahia have in recent years had the upper hand over Zanzibari sides. At the 2015 CECAFA club cup, Gor Mahia trounced KMKM 3-1 with Michael Olunga scoring twice and Kagere scoring the other.  Then at the 2017 Super Cup Gor Mahia blanked Jangombe Boys 2-0 with Kagere scoring twice.

The need for depth

With Gor Mahia facing a glut of fixtures that will include the KPL, GoTV Shield, CAF Confederations cup, Super 8, Supercup and possibly Kagame Cup, they will need to bolster their ranks with more players.

With that in mind, Gor Mahia are said to be pursuing 25 year old Ugandan midfielder Paul Mucuurezi. His contract with KCCA is said to be ending in June.

A two-time league winner, Mucureezi is a versatile midfielder with the ability to also play behind the striker, on the right or left hand side of the attack as has been the case this season while playing for Mike Mutebi’s side.

He also has a knack for scoring important goals as witnessed when he headed home the winner to help KCCA past Madagascar champions CNaPS in a first round match of the Caf Champions League.

He is also a full international with the Uganda Cranes, and made history when he came off the bench to score four times when Uganda beat South Sudan 5-1 in the 2018 CHAN qualifiers in 2017.

  • And also consider local players like shami kibwana and Eugene mukangula from thika…they can score from midfield and are good in set pieces .

  • And talking of transfer targets I have watched Mutamba in the two friendlies and he is quite a handful though I hear Sofapaka have already swooped. Then I never understand why we always ship out players on loan who end up shining for their ‘adopted’ clubs. I have watched Teddy Osok playing for Sofapaka and he has been phenomenal with the highlight being his performance against Ulinzi this past Sunday. Then Bernard ‘Calabar Junior’ Odhiambo down at the Coast has excelled beyond expectations. You could say they cannot play under the pressure that comes with playing for Gor Mahia but these two I have mentioned have never been given a chance to play consistently for Gor. The coaches on this blog kindly tell me if it is possible to judge a player’s ability in training and not in an actual game situation?

Signing of any player can either be a hit or a miss…in my opinion it’s premature to assume that player X will perform or not perform.let them be thrown in the deep end then we can judge them from there!!

A good idea to bring the Ugandan but when is the term of Guikan expiring? and we also need to think about the local players i.e. Mukangula and Ovella those are equally good players t.v. should also think about a central defender. My opinion

@Agwanda why Guikan? Or what are you implying with the word EXPIRY?….. From@ Jasego previous statistic on current strikers, i do concur that Guikan will regain his fitness given and more playing time will make us proud. PATIENCE PAYS.

I mentioned that because he is never serious in most cases wasting chances then either laughing or complaining.

We had a super star known as Zangi. Wuod Ochuka. Very few can match his soccer skills today. We lost him for hitting the bottle too hard and had to be suspended/expelled from the club. We have a current player who is very talented, quite a character and can even don the national team colors, however like Zangi, the bottle is taking its toll on him. Very unfortunate..

  • Nick Mwendwa you cant force GM players to stay in camp for a useless non-fifa calendar sanctioned tournament in india. We already obliged and gave you their services for two friendlies. They are first and foremost Gor Mahia players not FkF players. We have SportPesa Supercup running from 3rd to 10th while the indian cup is 4th to 11th.Feel free to take all international players on break like Olunga…Wanyama…Ayub Timbe …Brian Mandela and al SA basef players on offseason holiday and leave us alone to focus on winning Supercup so we can play Everton in Goodison Park for EPL Pre-Season.Magi gi onge maana bokelo useless injuries to our first 11 players..Kaa mbali tafadhali

    • He just scored a very beautiful goal 38th minute. Joint top scorer with Kagere despite playing fewer games. Food for thought for his critics

Why are we not satisfied with Guikan? Is it because he’s injury prone? I don’t think he invites the injuries. With his swiftness, definitely he gets exposed to injuries as an occupational hazard. I am told he has scored from an Innocent Wafula cross. Musymo confirm please.

Yes, Guikan scored the goal fromb a Wafula pass in the 38th minute. We are now 6 points ahead of Ulinzi

Thank you Harry. Congratulations team. We match on one game at a time.

        • Innocent Wafula was the provider. He also gave another enticing one that Kagere would have buried but he went for style and the chance went begging. Kagere put through again by Berry and inexplicably hit the side netting with the goal at his mercy. Not a good day for him as concerns getting on the scoresheet but he heavily influenced the game with his running and intelligence.
