Jerim speaks on GoTV shield

courtesy of futaa.com

Gor Mahia skipper Jerim Onyango has called on Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Government, to make provisions to provide support to the team that represents the country in the CAF Confederations Cup.

According to Onyango, Gor, who turned out for Kenya in the continentals at the start of the year, had a difficult time, financing their travels.

-It is really strenuous for teams to cover for the involved expenses and we hope that the government and FKF will offer more support, said Onyango.

Qualification

The team that wins the domestic shield is the one that turns for the country in the regional meet.

We are the defending champions, by all means we need to play even better to retain the trophy and reward our loyal fans.” Jerim told michezoafrika.com.

All the best 2 GM in the title defense. W.S should be the easier game b4 the big boys start facing off.
Now back of matters ELECTIONS. First of all let me say that I appreciate all views articulated since most whether for/against provide useful insights.
In my view 3 crucial matters stick out & I will not tire from articulating them btw now & the elections. We must focus on CECAFA/CAF also.
    1. GM must revamp its membership structure in a contributory or shares format. Even start with 50bob/month

  • ODUOR12

Or 600/year payable in advance. A proper upto date electronic register must b maintained. This instant 100bob election purposes membership is the loophole used to fleece GM. Where is the plot? GINIWASEKAO BUT WHERE R ALL THE OTHER PREVIOUS TROPHIES WON 4 GUD?
With proper membership look where Equity Bank & Family bank r having started in 1984 compared to GM from 1968!
AR,Kilo & Ngala were part of the EC that expanded the office & even increased the office term to 2 years so it is also possible…

strenghten the membership structure into shares.
    2. Election date & rules should not be a secret(Old Kanu style) on the pretext that EC is concentrating on winning a league already won. Even Jagoal at this stage knows we struggle financially 2participate in CECAFA & CAF. Yet bloated EC is financially opaque. Not even collections of game against Chemelil r out at least b4 EC used to give some figures. GM nids only abt 4 elected officials who then appoint a fulltime secretariat CEO,FIN&ADMIN
    3.

3.I agree with Dan Orig.there may b better/lesser persons than the 4 legends whose names I keep on mentioning but please mention names so that we critique them.Otherwise we’ll be ambushed by sweet talkers like Bwana who say that they lead branches with 5K active members (FB branch) contributing 1K each so where does the 5M go.
AVOID UNKNOWNS TRY OBWAKA,LULE,SIANGA,MAKAMU A LEAST THEY’VE WON LEAGUE,CECAFA,CAF. CEO ETC WILL B HIRED 4 DAY 2 DAY DUTIES ON PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS-MARKETING,A/Cs etc.
    Thx

I admire you Oduor12 for your persistence on election matters, you have kept us alive with the topic all through. Keep it up, you have great ideas that can take us far if they get implemented. While I agree with you that we avoid the unknowns, I would rather you put yourself forward as one of the contenders, I believe that you can make a difference if you can help to implement all the ideas that you have presented here. Some of the legends may not be as passionate about the development of the club as you are. SO I MENTION YOUR NAME, I would support you all the way!!

Oduor12 is very right. All clubs have their strongholds. so you appeal to them for membership and vision. We have a large pool to get the necessary resources from be it moral or material. What we need is focussed and visionary leadership. That is our achilles heel at the present.

Rallying the K’galo entire fraternity around the likes of myself,u & other able bloggers like Mwakio, Le Pastre, Wuon Pap, Dan Orig, Dan,Kosero & many more may be an exercise in futility.
But still first is 2 do our own “vetting” & generate a strong list of 4/5 with a viable chance., then USE THE POWER OF INTERNET 2 do the campaigning emphasizing on structures & lean EC.
P.S LIKE THE LEGENDS ANY SERIOUS BLOGGER HAS MY SUPPORT OVER CURRENT EC.

EC has done a good Job; the players are doing a better Job and the funs are back doing an excellent Job.

They have my vote and that of many other funs.

    BRAVO Kogalo family.

I don’t feel any wind of change MR Oduor12. I feel a cool relaxing breeze and breath of fresh air. I am free from being ridiculed and insulted by others who do not like Gor fraternity – No More Hujuma. I have hope for a league title and the money prize for the players, I feel exited of continental matches next year, I see young star coming through…. the future is bright.

  • as much as i too have critised the EC i would like to say that past players are not necessarily a panachea to gor problems. the EC has tolerated corruption at gor but the guys @Oduor 12 is advocating, what ideas do they have? if these guys are out to fight corruption then where are they at this stage? are they going to appear suddenly during elections to inform us they are contesting? this is where most ppl will decide on the devil they know. to remove Bwana and the rest u must give us a clear agenda on how u can take gor to the next stage. right now these are the stages if i can use these clubs illustrations;
first become organised as simba or yanga
second become organised as motema pembe
third become orginised as el alhly(egypt) or esperance
those who can decipher betwn the lines will know exactly what i mean so i will explain no further. the past office came with a pledge of building a stadium. gor fans being gullible, had no idea what it takes to build a stadium, went ahead and excitedly elected these guys. what i am trying to emphasize that gor will easily elect corrupt officials when the electorate is easily corrupted. they will never question you even if you say u are going to buy gor an aeroplane. so @Oduor 12, i will expect the guys you front to do the same. the biggest culprit remains the gor fan, who demands a corrupt free office but goes ahead and wears a fake shirt product. i keep talking about about the fake shirt coz it tells me of one thing about the gor fan, a easily corrupt electorate.
    – fake shirts
    – fake tickets
    – a silent EC unanswerable to no-one on gor finances
    – a tech bench ready to bring ‘waiganjo’ at any time.
    – promises that are never questioned eg stadium, plot etc
    – officials who easily manipulate branches to fix each other without caring how they damage the club image.
    – officials who will easily manipulate branches to get votes
-officials who have no idea why rugby never have cash problems yet gor has more fans than than the rugby fraternity is broke.
    – officials who cannot not tell why cricket a game with five or six fans can play all around the world bila shida.

talk to me about these issues and i will listen to you.

all these corrupt deals are done in gor coz of one reason, the gor fan allows it.
leave them out and the repurcussions will be the same – distruction and mayhem. officials will come and will be elected on emotions, just like before.
i have nothing against the fake shirt persey… but to me it’s a symbol of a corrupt fan.
and at @Oduor12, tell your guys to start making presentations on these issues. kindly take note that most former players are broke(this is not a crime) but how will they fare against wheeler-dealers driving Prados and promising gor an aeroplane. my take is that the adidas squad will go for the prado guy. it’s a question of knowing which branch to talk to.
(for any grammatical errors, pls forgive.)

@ dinga, in fact we’re on the same wave length. Note I ALWAYS list the 3 crucial points inorder of IMPORTANCE i.e:
1.SOLID CONTRIBUTORY MEMERSHIP STRUCTURE E.G SHARES LIKE A COOPERATIVE.
SEE EQUITY/FAMILY BANK STARTED IN 1984 VS GM IN 1968.
    2. ELECTED LEAN EC OF 4 who HIRE A SECRETARIAT OF PROFESSIONALS ON PERFORMANCE CONTRACT 4 day2day work.
    3. LASTLY THE NAMES. I PROPOSE CERTAIN LEGENDS NOT ALL. I LUK FORWARD 2 NAMES FRM U,DAN ORIG SO WE CRITIQUE ALL.
PLS, PLIIIZ DO NOT READ IT BACKWARDS

  • @dinga, in october 2012 T.P. Mazembe bought a 164 seater aeroplane. So Gor Mahia can also buy an aeroplane and build a stadium. Isewinjo mano? There is no excuse to Gor Mahia management because we are in relatively politically stable country and soccer league compared to T.P. Mazembe which is in war-torn unstable Zaire. There should be no excuse at all. EC must go

Ooh Laa la a “OGUDA WHY REVISE THE PRIZE MONEY AGAIN”

KPL winners to take home Sh4m instead of proposed Sh10m

This news will come as a setback to the challengers for this years title Gor and their closest rivals Sofapaka. There will be the participation of African Football Confederation competitions to be factored into their budgets at the beginning of next year.

    – See more at: http://www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-138912/no-prize-hike#sthash.VaiJ4Hik.dpuf

OGUDA Tusker sponsorship factored in the 10 million and since the wind is blowing Gor Mahia’s way again like last year you have opted to rescind the decision.

    Reply
  • If it is true that Oguda is revising the prize money down, the question that begs. Is it because Gor is clawing all the way to the end to take it in addition to the TPL.Secondly, was the money coming from Oguda’s pocket? so that he has the right to do any thing. Is he responsible to anyone? Can he take responsibility for giving false information? Please help me understand this. But as far as we are concerned, Gor has all the cylinders blowing hot. Therefore yawne yo nono to mach biro wan’gi

@OGANGO TRAILER the prize money has been reduced not by Oguda but the TPL committee. Let’s not blame everything on the poor guy. This is the same mentality we are calling for changes even in our EC. Let’s evaluate everything and everyone using a tooth comb. Saying EC MUST GO is akin to what we said before in our political environment only for some to regret later. As much as the EC has peformed below average let’s also recognise the good things they have done e.g. renewing the TUZO sponsorship and stabilizing the TB as well as looking after the players’ welfare. Otherwise we could be somewhere that only brings stress and ulcers to the fans. A good example of an unstable EC just look at shemejis and what it has caused them. So let’s give thanks to Almighty for the things He has done for us. I believe we get leaders we deserve

This is Nyamweya and clicks milking the cow again.

Last year it was Nyamweya who pushed the money, today it is Oguda.

This is Total Corruption at the highest level. What have anyone done to attract sponsors? clubs are investing heavily in hiring foreign coaches etc

Thx O.T thats an eye opener, some quick maths.
    TUZO SPONSORSHIP 29M.
We also know credit goes solely 2 AR not the entire EC, also sadly though enhanced it was renewed 4 only 1 YEAR.
TPL MINIMUM WE NOW KNOW IS 6.5M. 29+6.5 totals 34.5M against a budget as per the last AGM of 60M. GM’s gate collections cn b 30M frm the 15 home matches i.e 10,000 fans per game paying only 200each. Lowest income shld b 64.5M.
Now we know how/who manages gates & ticketing. “Oguda’s”6M is a speck in our neighbour’s eye.

On matters election, let us learn to give credit where it is due; It is so easy to point fingers and push people out of office because they have failed to do one or two things that we think they should have done. A sober way forme would be to evaluate their performance as individuals and as a team. I therefore concur with Oduor12 is that we need to re look at the structure and if possible review the constitution to fit with the changing times and the vision of the club. A mere change of office bearers will not take us anywhere.

@ comrade Dan Original TUSKER last year pumped in 170 million into the KPL kitty headed by Oguda of which it was suppose to be spread into a three years sponsorship deal, where as Supersports sponsorship takes care of the 16 teams participating in the competition and each get a minimum of 6.5 million yearly to cater for participation expenses.

During the signing of the TUSKER sponsorship agreement with all the stakeholders namely the FKF,KPL and the so called “club chair-persons committee” it was announced in broad day light that the money was meant to make KPL transform into TPL with more lucrative prize money. There was no mention of looking for additional sponsorship to top up the prize money for the ultimate winner. KPL.FKF and the sponsor even went ahead quoted the figure as 10 million and it in the public domain.

@Dan Original please ask yourself why on earth with only six matches to the end of the competition is when we hear of an hurriedly arranged meeting and decision to slash the prize is arrived at “THE SUPREME COURT STYLE VERDICT”…UNANIMOUSLY..!!

Last year the prize money was pushed to take effect in the current 2013 league when KPL/FKF thought that Gor Mahia was destined to bag the trophy; how comes this year the “OGUDA/Clubs Chair person committee” have just realized that it is next to impossible at the 11th hour of competition. Supposedly TUSKER was the favorite team at the moment, do you think the issue could be at stake?

@Dan Original, you are out of your mind to defend Oguda and KPL hierarchy on the prize money. Why is KPL changing the goal post when Gor Mahia is almost passing the closing line to win the league? I can see a plot from Kpl teams to deny Gor Mahia an opportunity to bag home Kshs.10 million prize.

This hypocrisy of the likes of Dan the original must be vetoed and we should stop commenting on things we do not know.

Regarding election, I agree that we do not need bloated office. The club just need only five officials. We just need to review the club’s article of association and change the clause that brought the bloated office. This clause should be repealed and amended accordingly. I will only vote for AR as our chairman than names which are being floated by bloggers in this site. The rest of officials (kilo, bwana, ominde, roselinder, faiz, oj, nyandega, etc) should be send packing for the god for nothing they have inhibited since their election to the office.

On efforts to professionalise the club, we need to put a legal team and financial advisor in place to guide the club on the required process of changing the club from its current status to a more serious professional outfit. It is not just about talking and blogging that we need this and that if we do not put the right measures in place.

Gor Mahia is a big club tha need to be managed in a more professional way with right structures and internal processes being put in place. We need a change that will change the club fortune than thes good for nothing officials who only care about gate collections.
