Kagere willing to extend stay at Gor Mahia

Talisman Meddie Kagere, has been on a hot-streak lately, scoring goals at will. He was the golden boot winner at the recently ended Sportpesa Super cup and has scored 8 goals in the premier league. This has made him the subject of constant transfer rumours in particular from Yanga and Simba of Tanzania. Kagere now says he will listen to any offers that Kogalo makes him.

“l signed a short-term contract with Gor Mahia but l am ready to listen to what will be offered for me to extend my stay. Talks should be on and if we agree on terms, l will definitely stay and continue doing what l do best,” he said according to goal.com.

Kagere went on to give credit to his team-mates for his scoring spree.

“As a forward player, my work is to score goals. It’s just a blessing and all happens with the help of my teammates,”

Another player who has been the subject of constant transfer rumours is Francis Kahata. So much so that a Tanzanian tabloid even published a story suggesting that Kahata has sealed his move to Simba.

Gor mahia fc is the best team for Kagere and even Kahata.Tanzanian teams are known for killing the good form of players coming from kpl. Cases in point are Danny Serrunkuma and kiongera. These were quality players but when they joined the top teams in Tanzania ,they could not replicate their form from kpl and dropped drastically.

No player worth his salt should move from the Kenyan league to Tanzania. That is a major step back. It is better to aim for the South African league within Africa where teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns would offer better renumeration and exposure.

Gor has assembled a formidable team that has the potential to sweep all before it including the CAF cup. The prize money will be enough to recover any money spent on resigning Meddie and offer a perfect return on investment.

As much as Kagere is entitled to improved contractual terms, he should comprehend the fact that only Gor and no other African club can be his best home considering his age. His so called agents SHOULD NOT take any advantage and present unreasonable demands because Gor has had even better strikers before.Otherwise he may end signing for the ‘forgotten club’ where the likes of Abondo,Marcelo, Aucho, Muguna and other forgotten former Gor stars are playing. KWANI JALUO TINDE SECHO?

I am inclined on Odhis Muga’s side regarding this matter. I believe that Kagere needs Gor Mahia as much as Gor Mahia needs Kagere.

Let us rewind to Meddie Kagere season 1. The guy pattnered Olunga so effectively and endeared himself to all K’Ogalo faithfuls. Then greed got the better of his agent at the end of the season. His agent demanded for 6 M to renew his contract “otherwise Kagere would go to Tunisia or Casablanca etc”. Since K’Ogalo could not raise that kind of money, we reluctantly let him go. Little did Meddie know that his agent had overvalued and was misadvising him. That high price tag scared away every suitor. The Casablanca he had been promised turned out to be the one of Moi Avenue, Mombasa.

It is through pressure from bloggers in this forum that J’Asego went, searched for him in Rwanda and offered him a second chance in Gor Mahia. It is noteworthy to point out that in Rwanda, he had reached the end of the road and was totally marooned, thanks to the misadvice from his agent. J’Asego found him wallowing in a miasma of hopelessness. He came back, J’Asego received him at the airport and arranged his temporary accommodation with Walusimbi as he was settling down for Meddie Kagere season 2. We did all this in the name of K’Ogalo. Now we have worked hard together to bring his career back on track then in comes his greedy agent from nowhere. Meddie Kagere should look back and see where Gor Mahia has brought him from even as he highlights what he has given to Gor Mahia. Should he continue following his agent blindly then he will end up worse off than he was before the beginning of season 2.

    • BB you have said it all. I found Meddie training with APR in rwanda who had offered him a mediocre contract he couldn’t fathom. The other option was Tusker FC who were offering 300k sign on fees and 80k monthly salary.Ingwe on the sidelines were making unecessary noise without having any money worth talking about and offered him 60k mothly salary.Suffice to say i prevailed in doing all you have enumerated above. He is a good player, one of our best currently and we will offer him reasonable terms to finish his career here since we love him.But his agent trying to use 8 Million as baseline negotiation fee having tabled the same to Yanga and Simba won’t work.Kagere belongs at GM and if he listens to my wise counsel all shall be well with him as he joins our Hall of Fame list…

  • My take is that if Kagere tables reasonable demands let us extend his contract. He is in a good form currently and is delivering the goods. If his demands are unreasonable we let him go in peace. I thank him for his contribution but Gor will continue when he is gone. We had better strikers as good or even better than him eg Olunga and Sserunkuma who left but Gor is still going strong.

  • A belated Eid ul Fitr greetings to you too @ Barefoot Bandit and all bloggers, GM players,TB and all other GMFC stakeholders.

Now to the June18 signings. My personal opinion is that even with the good SPesa Cup outing Meddie Kagere’s overall goal rate is still not good enough i.e 8 goals only from 15 league games (53% goal scoring rate) not forgetting numerous wasted chances per game.

Let’s not make the kes.4M mistake again of paying out millions for “a slightly above average striker” or another knee jerk signing K14 like signing that does not translate into a commensurate benefit to K’Ogalo.

I want “Luanda Magere ” to stay but if Yanga are actually willingly to fork out 8 million into the club’s account for Kagere then I say AR take the money but get a replacement, bring back Dan “Flava” or even RUPIA, Elvis Baranga who has scored 15 goals in 19 matches i.e a scoring rate of 79%

    • We need a striker who averages a goal a game or at least 25 goals per season. So far the only one who faintly shows the capacity to achieve that is the unfairly velified Guikan.
Let’s cast our nets wider Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi.
Am sure there very talented players out there waiting for a chance to feature in CAF or play for the SP Super Cup champions who are very soon facing EPL’s Everton.
Let’s even consider the so called Bad Boy Muhammad Shaban as long as he’s banging in the 2 goals per game. Even Walusimbi had his run in with the club but now all is sorted remember soccer players are not altar boys
Loyalty first should be to K’Ogalo, the club while we appreciate our heroic players let’s also build the club financially and take Simba/Yanga’s kes.8 now rather than lose Meddie on a free transfer come Nov18 or retain him on exorbitant terms.

    • @Akira… Kagere is going nowhere if sober heads prevail.I believe he has earned his dues for an improved reasonable package devoid of agent manipulation.Well he listens to me and i always have both vlub and player interests at heart so let’s negotiate with him in good faith. He is our current best and loves his stay at GM too so i believe he will sign two year contract extension soon…Simba SC of TZ in the meantime can keep salivating at our success to an extent of lying to their sorry fans that they have signed kahata from GM after their Super Cup Failure. In which form and manner can that happen really?Let them dream on

@Moses well said and k’Ogalo will be better off trading him to the highest bidder between the so called Yanga or SIMBA at this point in time or alternatively then run down his contract until November and let him table those awkward demands when he is a free agent.
@Akira the only permanent thing in K’Ogalo is the fans but the other stakeholders will come and go……GOR OSIKO TOK OKSIKIE….The Kagere season1 tried to hold K’ogalo with his awkward demand and he was let go until he found himself clubless, clueless and miserable…. Now if Kagere season 2 is behaving the same way…”Dawa ni ile ile”….. OCHAM NYANJE MY FRIEND…..

@Akira the issue at stake is very simple … “AKWARD MONETARY DEMAND” from the so called “AGENTS”. Please be objective and try your level best to internalize the subject matter…. Or are you a beneficiary of the impending loot Mr. GAGGING.
It is that simple take the offer and sign or we run down your contract and ship out.

  • ABOUT MILTON KARISA..

    – Plays either as a attacking midflelder, winger or striker
-Played 3 seasons with Bul fc uganda before joining vipers early last year and winning the league title in 2018 with Vipers fc
    – Has represented uganda national team 11 times, scoring 2 goals.
-Scored 11 goals for vipers fc in the just concluded uganda league – finishing 3rd after kogallo legend dan sserenkuma and mohammed shabaan.
-Comes strongly recommended by another club legend – dan sserenkuma and he sserenkuma believes milton karisa is the next big thing to come out of Uganda.
    – Dan sserenkuma seems to have convinced the boy that the move is the right direction for his career.

Hope the EC strikes the deal as the deal is also tied to another deal the EC is exploring….karim nzingimana be loaned out to Burundi club for 2018/19 as part of his recovery process creating an extra slot for a foreigner.
