Kalekwa’s mind games

courtesy of goal.com
Sofapaka boss predicts that K’Ogalo will drop points before end of the season and warns that they are ready and waiting to pounce in case they staggerSofapaka President Elly Kalekwa has predicted that league leaders Gor Mahia will stumble under the pressure of expectations from their fans.Kalekwa says this is already evident given how panicky Gor Mahia have become in their last few matches and believes it will make them slip up at one point.

“They (Gor Mahia) may have the advantage but pressure from fans is too much on them. You can see how desperate they are to win matches. This is not a good sign and sooner or later the cracks will come.

“We intend to take over when this does happen,” Kalekwa told Goal. Kalekwa said Sofapaka are taking it easy and are not under pressure at all something he says will see them finish at the top of the league.

“We are enjoying ourselves and accepting the results we get along the way unlike leaders (Gor Mahia) where every match has become a matter of life and death.”

He regretted that Sofapaka has not been able to catch up with Gor Mahia in the last two matches but believes it is not lost yet. “We should have beaten Sony Sugar and Karuturi Sports. We would be at a better position to catch up with them if that had happened but we cannot look back but must focus on remaining matches.”

As it stands, Gor Mahia needs to win their next three games and they will be declared champions with two games to spare. Sofapaka now have 40 points from 25 games and they remain second. Ulinzi Stars’ chances of winning the title ended with their 2-2 draw with KCB at the Afraha Stadium last weekend.

Williamson Confident

or Mahia coach Bobby Williamson believes his players have the ability to withstand the pressure of trying to win this year’s Kenyan Premier League title.

The team is just nine points away from clinching the trophy that has eluded them since 1995 and can do it on October 27 if they beat Kakamega Homeboyz at home.

“I believe we can take the pressure till the end. My players have already proved they can do it in previous matches and I expect them to stay at it till the end.

“The fact that we have recovered very well after losing against Tusker shows that we are capable of staying on it until the end,” the Scot said in an interview with Goal.

Williamson also insisted that they don’t have to collect nine points to be crowned champions pointing that this is only necessary if Sofapaka win all their remaining five matches. “It is not done yet for us and we must keep our focus on the ball.  However, we only need nine points if Sofapaka win all their matches which is not possible.”

And how does he deal with the pressure from fans? “I don’t watch television or read newspapers so it is easy for me to deal with the pressure.”

God willing this 18 year chase will end with four games to go since Sofa themselves cannot even afford a draw but will they beat Ulinzi, Chemelil, WStima, Mathare and Gor just like that. I can even see Shemejis getting the runner up position

Blogger please, not here. Let us just do sports and Gor Mahia in particular. A vote for Oduor12 is a vote for transparency, accountability and meaningful development in an otherwise opaque world.

My vote goes for Oduor12 if he presents himself for election. But we must remember that any election is as good as the electoral process. If you are a Kenyan you know what I mean. No matter what you do, if you dont have good systems and clear electoral laws, then anyone can buy his way into the leadership of the club. Following that, the first thing to be looked at should be the membership and who is eligible to vote. I agree with Oduor12 that if anyone who can register @ 100 shillings at anytime will be eligible to vote, then we might as well call off the elections. In the developed systems, you realize that not everyone votes but few individuals who represents different interests. In that case, they can look objectively at the needs of the club and the individuals who have the ability to move the club forward.
All the best to the team as they prepare for Saturday encounter!!

Its a bit 2 late 4 minds games Mr.Kalekwa since its as impossible 4 Smeow 2 win all its games than it is 4 Gor drop 10 points.
Though am not standing am also not giving up on urging fellow bloggers & GM fraternity 2 try & bring abt positive changes this elections.
During this year’s AGM demand 4 period of the current EC.
    1. The Income & Expenditure statement &
    2. The Balance sheet.
No.2 is important since assets like the bus need to appear in GM’s records or they may disappear like the plot.

Kalekwa stop this nonsense of mind games. Gor Mahia is bigger than Sofapaka and you need to concentrate with your team than throwing your bad behavior to Gor Mahia. The started on equal footing and now you are trying to please yourself with idiotic expressions, which are signs of a total failure.

@Dan Original, you are out of your mind to defend Oguda and KPL hierarchy on the prize money. Why is KPL changing the goal post when Gor Mahia is almost passing the closing line to win the league? I can see a plot from Kpl teams to deny Gor Mahia an opportunity to bag home Kshs.10 million prize. This hypocrisy of the likes of Dan the original must be vetoed and we should stop commenting on things we do not know.

Regarding election, I agree that we do not need bloated office. The club just need only five officials. We just need to review the club’s article of association and change the clause that brought the bloated office. This clause should be repealed and amended accordingly.

I will only vote for AR as our chairman than names which are being floated by bloggers in this site. The rest of officials (kilo, bwana, ominde, roselinder, faiz, oj, nyandega, etc) should be send packing for the good for nothing they have inhibited since their election to the office.

On efforts to professionalise the club, we need to put a legal team and financial advisor in place to guide the club on the required process of changing the club from its current status to a more serious professional outfit. It is not just about talking and blogging that we need this and that if we do not put the right measures in place.

Gor Mahia is a big club that need to be managed in a more professional way with right structures and internal processes being put in place. We need a change that will change the club fortune than these good for nothing officials who only care and are concern about gate collections.

  • kalekwa, rest be assured that the only game sofapaka will come out to play is against gor. just like the other teams sofapaka players turn to sleep while playing in empty stadiums but the moment the know there will be an audience to watch them play, they wake up. u and i and the rest of the futi fraternity know very well when this happens. so sofapaka will come out fighting when playing gor. bytheway i wonder which team enters the stadium with a plan on how to lose a match. apart from afc leaopards which is now OPENLY using witchcraft(ask kcb and muhoroni coaches) i don’t think gor has much to worry about coz we’ve played them twice. gor will be cautious just like the rest of the teams so keep dreaming. my advice to players, focus on the nxt match and not the league title. take care of the cents and the shillings will sort themselves out. kindly note that it’s the other teams that have turned gor sharp… most teams come out to play soccer only when facing gor …in other words every gor match is tough hence gor players have become sharper hence the good performance. watch a game betwn tusker et sony and tusker et gor and u will c what i mean. this theory explains why masika become an average footballer the moment he left gor.
    NB:
This research has been written by Dr Dinga who has published widely on weird theories. his work is read all over the world and has spoken in many seminars. he is now patiently waiting for the a Nobel peace prize.

THAT IS THE WORK OF THE EC. PUBLICITY. ALSO, IT WOULD BE NICE IF GOR MAHIA COULD START VOUCHER DRAWS IN WHICH PARTICIPANTS STAND TO WIN GIFTS. eg WIN WIN WIN WITH GOR, SMS NAME TO 2222 AND STAND A CHANCE TO WIN A SUBARU.

Like any other dreamer, let Kalekwa be optimistic about his SOFAPAKA. However, us as GM family we will continue taking one match at a time and this time round we are likely going to get double – TPL & GOTv trophies.

To players and the bench – let us remain focused and don’t be distracted by empty words from our opponents.

Ooh Laa la…!!”IS AFC LEOPARDS USING BLACK MAGIC POT”

    1. Bagaye left the DEN complaining bitterly about club officials who like to visit the black magician.

    2. Masika drop of form was confessed by a friend to be caused by extra-ordinary forces of the black magic.

    3. Luc Eyamael went public blaming AFC official about there over concentration on “DUMBA”.

    4. When tides changed recently to favor AFC there was a lot of hue and cry from Abdalla juma of KCB and Adagala of Muhoroni who went public while blasting the AFC for spraying their opponents with evil forces on the pitch.

IS AFC PERFORMANCE INSPIRED BY “MADIMONI” OR NOT.

Guys, we should concentrate on mobilizing our fans for tomorrow’s game instead of wondering who is electable and who is not amongst other things. This issue has evn caught up with the EC. I hear G. Bwana now complaining on the reduced prize money. Last year in November we concentrated on the price money, on arranging a victory bash, as well as printing ‘2012 Champions’ t-shirts. In the process we ‘took’ the players for lunch at the wrong place and time. The end-result is that we lost the championship. This year while the Chair and Coach are talking about caution some EC are already behaving like they have won.
Please let’s be humble and pray to the ALMIGHTY that what we desire comes true. If possible we can fast as we like all those who adore God do. In that case we will be rewarded and please let’s treat other members of the public with dignity as we go about our activities as Gor fans

@ Dan original is G. Bwana complaint not genuine according to your observation?. Why do you always internalize issue’s in a confused manner my comrade.

Let GB do his job and engage the stakeholders as to why this ridiculous decision was arrived at this very moment when it is going GM way. “UIVU NA FITINA NAYO”

For election debate please hold your horses and let this issue be discussed openly or who are you trying to protect?. Already the candidates are on the campaign trail and the prevail mood on this blog is UNSTOPPABLE. Stop panicking for the league title but think yonder beyond winning the league and still maintaining the same status quo. Do you still want lack of accountability and transparency to be the norm?

OTHERWISE “WAJIBIKA KAMA SHABIKI SUGU”.”GM-KATIBA MPYA”

Players will do their duty, same as the current office of the “executive community” but fans / bloggers as the main stakeholders must hold both accountable and strategize for the future progress of the club.
