Kerr: We will take Supersport seriously
Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr insists that his side cannot afford to underrate SuperSport United. This despite the fact that SuperSport are struggling in the South African league.
“I can’t see the fact that they are struggling in the league is going to be a big difference to how they play or how they want to play,” he told Soka25east.
Kerr also noted that Supersport are far ahead of Kogalo in terms of finances and facilities.
“They are struggling in the league and their focus is to remain in the PSL, but if you look club for club we are nowhere near what they have facility wise or money wise but what we have are good and hardworking players,” he added.
Kerr says he will prepare his side for playing at the high altitude of Pretoria.
“It will be tough in Pretoria partly because of the altitude. We just got to make sure that when they come to Kenya we do exactly what we did against Esperance but score a goal,” he explained.
However Kerr says that of all the teams in the Confederations cup, he prefers to play Supersport.
“When we came from Tunisia. I looked at the teams in the CAF CC and said we better get SuperSport. Their position in the PSL means they have to fight to stay up. They poised to lose much if they go down and much of their focus must be on surviving in the league,” he said to futaa.com
Well said coach, we underrate them at our own peril.The elephant currently in the house is player remuneration. One Gor official said on radio jambo that only January salaries have been fully paid, so sad indeed.For how long will this great and most successful club in Kenya beg? It is quite disheartening, when my salary is delayed even for a week I feel so depressed. I can’t imagine the situation of Gor players, God help us.

In as much as we want to qualify for group stages of CAF CC and I know we can, i fear it may be the beginning of our downfall as internal wrangles, EC infighting, player revolts, transfer requests, go slow and politics of who eats how much and when, kick backs, player demands etc etc over the kshs 27 M sudden windfall will just send everyone mad and over the hill. watch this space !

Even coach says club for club we are nowhere near supersport United. I think it’s high time we stopped empty rhetoric and start thinking seriously on how to help club gor build a sound financial base.
Please don’t derail our CAF campaign with perenial incompetenies by bloated EC that have existed for the past decade. How do you claim the club is “broke” when Jakom AR undertook to start building a stadium from May 2018? Pay the players first CHOKE! Non/delayed payment of players’ and TBs’ emoluments has been the order of they day whether we have sponsorship or not. Under AR, only he knows who is owed what and how much, who has and has not been paid, whether or not players transfer fees or the league winning money have been fully remitted. Every year it has been the habit of EC to always shout from the rooftops that “Oh oh we are too broke to participate in CAF” yet players are transfered “free”, gate collections amounts are ever disputed. We had the same chairman for +10 years yet no structures and systems have ever been put in place. The difference is in 2018 we have a real chance to reach the Confed group stage so AR/ EC sort out the NON FOOTBALLING ISSUES. Players Play & EC Pays.

@jasego,I remember you were the one who informed us about the potential signing of Kagere.Indeed you are the one who claimed to have picked him from the air port when he arrived for the ceremony.Pseudonyms aside,you have claimed many times that you are an insider at the club and nothing happens without your knowledge.By your own admission you played a part in Kagere signing and therefore you are part of the problem.Form is temporary and recoverable.We aren’t helping matters by gang raping Kagere and Tuyisenge.Understably our expectations are high and the downturn has been disappointing to say the least.I have been in Manchester for the last one year,though It is coming to an end,and I have interacted alot with Man U fans.The consensus is that Sanchez has been a flop.However,many Utd fans feel he will get it right soon and continue to sing his name on match days.Friends you are right in a sense but on the balance of recent displays by the team,I think there are more NOBLE ways to express our frustrations.I manage a team of workers,and for the sake of their personality,there are things I can’t bring myself to doing even when I know my next letter could be sending him home.
Baba Travis,i agree & respect your opinion.Leave alone Kagere,if Guikan is my express signinh but i don’t spare him backlash and dressing down when he deserves one despite him being new i told him he must up his workrate to earn a first team place.Rem i have not abused or been disrespectful to Kagere or Tuyisenge,both my very close personal friends but just stress the need for them to score more often & regularly.I for one know without any doubt that part of the problem is circumstancial since the two can never play as twin strikers-they are not capable of complimenting each other as both drift away from the six yard box and dont attack spaces behind central defenders.To remedy that we brought guikan who is unfortunately batyling a recurring injury.Kagere is a good footballer but needs a typical out & out strike partner while Tuyisenge i sympathize with daily as the boy is a Wide Attacker (right offensive winger).Still a scoring formulae must be found regardless for friendship aside their business in K’ogalo is professional football.As i go hard on them we are exploring solutions but you Must agree,them not scoring is bringing GM down.What is so hard in scoring,asks Sir Kerr to them everytime,the opportunities are there in plenty,why cant they put some away?

When we played Everton I thought we would be walking over teams with 80 – 20 ball possession, unfortunately it never came to be.Did the game had wuod maria effects what Kerr did was to remove the many back passes.???. Anyway my point is if we play attractive football ,fans will be back in droves hence an intimidating atmosphere more so if you cant have the ball and all the players confidence would be boosted.

You cant blame the strikers if the midfield did not create enough chances. If you watched the Esperance game, you have to admit that very few chances were created.
OMG you talking of chances whoever was in machakos can choke by u literally talking of creating chances…. just check the shots on target and of target don’t even include the touches inside the box….. final count of the day disheartened by the score line buh surely the performance was incredible…. am of that opinion that we are a winning outfit no matter the occasion or season we should be banging goals the least…it’s what the army deserves

I will repeat what I said here after the Gor Vs AFC game in Nakuru..Gor needs a rugged player like him…so far I think I have been vindicated.
Indeed I saw in him what Kerr sees in him.i just hope he continues to put in the kind of performance we need.As it is,ours is the meanest defence after Bandaris.
