Kevin Omondi rejoins Gor Mahia
The career of Kevin Omondi “Ade” has come full circle as he has rejoined Kogalo, the team where he started his career.
“We have given ‘Ade’ a three year contract after he impressed the coaches in recent training. He was invited to train with the team by coach Kerr and he has given us the go ahead that we sign him and that is what we have done.” said Lordvick Aduda, the Gor Mahia CEO to goal.com
Ade wants to revive a career that was once very promising. Back in 2010, he was voted Kenya secondary school’s player of the year. He joined Kogalo the following season and was quickly named to the national team when only 19 years of age.
After the 2014 season, he left for South Africa. But a fall-out with the coach derailed his stint down South. He would return to Kenya and join Sofapaka the following season. But distracted by off the field issues, he never played well. He decided to join lower tier side Adminsitration Police. In the two friendlies he played against Gor Mahia, he played extremely well as if he had a point to prove.

Welcome back but now change ur off the field attitude in order to blossom.That right wing has too much competition in innocent wafula who once owned it now add samuel onyango,boniface omondi,ade who is back makes four good players eyeing starting role.Methinks in Karim’s absence let Wafula ply fullback two and overlap accordingly while defensive midfielder covers for him coz he got talent and i believe he’s not being utilised to the fullest extent.He thrived very well covering for injured Sibomana at left back under Nuttal
We must get the balance of the team right for us to thrive in Africa. Gor has too many offensive players neglecting the basic Foundation of football, the defense. In Ade, Muguna, Timothy, Boniface Omondi, Byron Oketch, Oliver Maloba, Berry, Kagere, Tuyisenge, Kahata, Jeckonia, and Wafula, Gor has too many offensive players. In the defense we have Musa, Maqbul, Shakava, Wellington, Walusimbi, Nzigiyimana, (Joash and Joachim). In the engine room we only have Muguna,
Wendo, Philemon and Kahata to count on. We have to get in a few defenders and defensive midfielders if we are to succeed.

Jakoyo, unless Baron is released or his contract has run its course, he remains Gor Mahia player. He has returned home following the season closure. Lets see what Kerr can get out of him. Please forget not to sign a defensive midfielder and a centre back.
Le Pastre Baron is a running offensive player who tiki taka confused but Kerr can make a good winger from i bet.Don’t you believe our many attacking players are what makes us strong snc as tbey say a strong offense is a good defense.We keep opposing teams busy leaving our defense to just collect loose balls and SPL Trophy comes automatically
I don’t believe that Ade will get play time in Gor, unless somebody will force Kerr to play him. I don’t believe that his quality now matches the quality of players we want in Gor. In the left back position I think Onguso fits very well and his quality is not in doubt.
If we are to play in the CAF CL, Kagame Cup, GoTV and Top * then we need depth in our squad. I believe Kerr and Co know what they are doing. Every coach including Matano, Nkata , Ssimbwe etc acknowledge that the depth and experience in Gor is what keeps us apart from the rest.
All we need to do is to ensure that the said players are properly enumerated
Shikayi looks good; so is Onguso who is a crossbreed of Abouba and Agwanda(in terms of throw ins) but needs to work on his free kicks
Me thinks continentals is about money, 100,000 members contribute 100/- monthly = 10M, yearly= 120M free entry for Gor home matches whole season, we can build our own stadia, buy a luxury team bus and afford the best quality in E&C Africa and that’s when we can compete with: Mazembe, Zesco, Sundowns et al, SAA hii tunatengeneza team ya kushinda SPL and nothing further than 2nd round , sportpesa is assisting us but self reliance is the power of community clubs (Bayern, BVB, BARCA et al), for now tuboeke na SPL until we put our house in order
Before building a stadium, can Kogalo just get its own training ground instead of paying hundreds of thousands to use Camp Toyoyo?

Methinks Ade deserves a second chance. With coach Ker there are less distractions, hence players are more focussed and know what is expected of them. If Jausenge & BB have improved, why not Ade? As regards season tickets cum membership it has taken EC more than 10 years but it’s resisted because some want to be percieved as the sole financiers of GMFC rather than unlock this potential. All that’s required is total transparency & accountability. However given that there no stadium in Kenya that can hold 100k fans lets be more realistic and target 25k fans paying about 3,000 bob each. Implementing this idea is long overdue and no genuine fan/ stakeholder can oppose it apart those with vested interests. As for our squad strength we should also include the goalkeeping
Oduor12 this may not be about stadium attendance, Got Mahia is loved far and wide- in the market centres of Kopanga, Magunga, Cham gi Wadu, Sidindi, Rodi Kopany, Wich Lum, Korowe, Kathonzweni, Stand Kisa, Miritini, name it. The people know Kogalo and would and would be ready to support it by buying even a membership at just 10 bob, but Kogalo is not itself on the ground to tap on this love. It’s about getting out there and marketing that name. It’s called innovation and thinking outside the box, that is if in the current circumstances they do not find excuses to ” resist” the initiative.

Kenya’s history is replete with incidences of individuals using emotive issues to enrich themselves by mobilizing finances from citizens. e.g land buying companies, Luo Trift & Trading Co., the Kisumu Molasses Saga. Luckily potential fans are not longer that gulible and that’s why linking the season ticket with membership is the best way to mobilize financial resources from GMFC’s potential fan base.

How about we go back to identifying and nuturing talent from NSL rather than poaching established “local” names. E.g between Akumu and Mieno who should has better “CAF experience”? That has been usually GMFC’s approach and it has served us well in CAF before especially in 1979 and 1987. CECAFA is another tournament for identifying talent worthy of donning the prestigious K’Ogalo jersey. A rider though “any player specifically identified by Ker must be given top prority”. What about preseason? Will it be Mapinduzi? EC must get it right can’t stomach another premlinary round CAF exit!
What kind of preparation is the ec planning .As it stands no mapinduzi for gormahia and Afc thus according to soka25east ….now which is the best way to gel and bring confidence to lads 3 games of inferior opponents or a tournament of regions elite across the EA…. We are planning to come back for preseason at around mid January when teams like esparance have been playing there league the whole December and January. And hope we still to compete at same level THE GROUP STAGE..forget it not today not in a century

Gor Mahia set date for AGM amidst disquiet | Goal.com- Gor Mahia Secretary General, Ben Omondi gave a 20-day notice in a letter dated November 20, 2017, for the AGM to be held on December 10 at the Railways Club in Nairobi.
The main agenda of the meeting, according to a letter copied to the Sports Registrar, Registrar of Society and Football Kenya Federation Secretary and seen by Goal; will be the constitutional review and financial report.
1) HAS THE MANAGEMENT OF THE CLUB ENSURED THAT ALL TAXES TO KRA HAVE BEEN MADE REGARDING ALL PAYMENTS MADE BY THE CLUB.?
I.E IN SIMPLE TERMS DOES THE CLUB ONLY MAKE PAYMENTS TO OR DEAL WITH SUPPLIERS / PERSONS WHO HAVE VALID KRA PINs.
KRA TAX COMPLIANCE CAN MAKE OF BREAK GOR MAHIA FOOTBALL CLUB AND FOR THAT MATTER ANY OTHER COMMUNITY CLUB?
2) CAN FKF EXPLAIN HOW GOR MAHIA WAS ISSUED WITH THE 2017 CAF LICENCE?
3) CAN THE “AUDITED ACCOUNTS” BY CLUB OFFICIALS BE TRUSTED!
4) IS GOR MAHIA FOOTBALL CLUB TAX COMPLIANT? Has it been issued with a tax compliant certificate albeit even a qualified one since the 2014 KRA;s kes.118M demand?

HOW WILL THIS AFFECT THE CORE ACTIVITIES OF THE CLUB ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF PERSISTENT DELAYS IN PAYING PLAYERS AND TECHNICAL BENCH MEMBERS AND EVEN TRAINING GROUND FEES WITNESSED IN 2017.
Questions:
Is all income relating to Gor Mahia received into the CLUB’S bank accounts- E.G IN 2016 Sportpesa Sponsorship- 65M, Crown Sponsorship-15M, gate collections, transfer fees,sale of merchandize- jerseys, mineral water , bread all which attract VAT. This is importance since its the only way to confirm if the expenses are genuine and declared so as to confirm that the all the proper taxes have been paid. FKF CLUB LICENSING MUST INSIST TAX COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATES SO THAT IN FUTURE THE CLUBS (PROBABLY UNDER NEW OFFICIALS) ARE NOT HIT WITH CRIPPLING TAX DEMANDS. THIS IS ESPECIALLY RISKY WHEN A CLUB IS UNDER ONE OFFICIAL FOR A LONG TIME.
Is payment of transfer fees when recruiting a player taxable? There is nothing like a free transfer? E.g was tax paid on the kshs. 4m to sign Tusyisenge?
KRA should make Gor Mahia Football Club a tax agent, in order to avoid a repetition of the 2014 kes118M tax demand scenario. THIS WILL ENSURE THAT GOR MAHIA only deals and makes payments to tax registered persons so as not to compromise its tax compliance. E.g Are all allowances declared and taxed e.g training allowance, Executive committee sitting and transport allowances, payments to club stewards. In fact all club stewards (who are infact employees) must have a PIN. Transport fees etc.
One of the conditions for being elected a Gor Mahia official is you must have a KRA tax compliance certificate, so it would be untenable if the club itself is not tax compliant. Particularly given that the chairman for the last eight years is a leading lawyer who no doubt is personally tax complaint together with his other business. Again in this era of ITAX how does KRA issue tax compliance certificates without checking compliance of individuals in their related activities e.g Rachier, his Law firm, Mayfair Bank / Gor Mahia Football Club.
How are club deficits funded? Is it from personal loans as the club officials always claim? Are these transaction taxable and have club officials declared the source of these monies when submitting their tax returns?
With all these debts office rent of kshs.4.6M (@kshs85,000 per month it means that the club did not pay rent for 4.5 years), training ground fees not paid and by the chairman’s own admission “accumulated huge debts over the years” on what basis did FKF issue the club with the 2017 club licence.
