Kevo, Owino, Lavatsa in action as Kenya beat S. Sudan

Kevin Omondi was in inspired form as he helped Kenya overcome South Sudan by a score of 2-0. Deployed on his preferred wing position, he and Paul Were, the other winger gave the South Sudanese a torrid time throughout the 90 minutes.

It was “Kevo” who was the first to have an attempt on goal. But his 4th minute effort went inches wide. He was at it again on 35 minutes but his effort once again sailed wide.  In the meantime David Ochieng of Sofapaka had given Harambee stars a 1-0 lead when he headed home a corner kick.

Edwin Lavatsa came on as a substitute for Anthony Kimani. But it was the other substitute Clifton Miheso who scored Kenya’s second goal. David Owino once again stood tall in defence. Rama Salim did not see action this time, having been replaced by Mike Baraza.

Thw win albeit against South Sudan is a welcome relief for Kenya fans as the national team has been on a lengthy loosing streak. Stars fans have become so used to poor results that a loss or a draw against South Sudan would not have come as a shock to anyone.

Kevo and Owino are really in top form. These local based players know what to do. If only Were, Baraza and Lavatsa upped their games we would now be talking of 5-0 against S.Sudan. This win is really good because the team at Uganda (CECAFA) has shown maturity in all departments and I think once back they should now be team A and the one that was left be B. Hii team ingechapa S. africa in the recent friendly we played at Nyayo.

In upcoming matches (international) wee only need two international players – Mugabe and maybe Oliech to add to this group that went to CECAFA.

OGANGO . T . You make me reason . Keep it up and built the GOR MAHIA that I love historically. Sir JBO on the driving seat. GOR iko juu sana cause of reality and not fake expensive. Animals on white skin like the the horrible MITCHEL.

Beba east and central African “Gossage” cup of kadenge na mpira and shame NYAMWEYA and his ilks who are from notorious hypocrites and constant visitors of the now famous TJ monuments and stature that belong to the villagers from the larger LUO inside alias colorful chameleon and very expensive racist which is good for nothing..

  • One observation i have to make is how fast Southern Sudan is growing in soccer. Soon we may be receiving thorough beatings from them.

Secondly, Kevin should join the Chan team. Ako juu tu sana. Pure class. Owino should have been there even earlier. Lavatsa needs to score to regain his confidence. Were and Baraza get excited when facing the goal. Mieno couldn’t play in the mud.

One change we need is to kick out this Michel fellow. He is proud for nothing. CECAFA is good practice for any team in this region even if we are going to the World Cup. Congrats boys!

Lastly Mr. Ogango, what is it? Your tantrums are going overboard.

@Creative Village my man I want to agree with you strongly in all except on the Trailer. Michel is a major milestone of disappointment in Kenya’s soccer history. He is worse than Antoine Hey. I hope he listenned to Tom Olaba’s sentiments. How on earth does he snub a regional tournament? If Michel was that good then he would not need all those people who are holding onto his coat tails. The truth be told: at one time he was good and there is no denying that but not anymore. Compare his record with Zico’s at the national team and you will ask the question I always ask: why did Nyamweya sack Zico? His replacement is only a tax burden who is leaving only on his past achievements. One thing FKF should have considered is the language barrier.

Lavatsa’s form has been suffering since Sept 22 at Kasarani. He may benefit from a long rest or being loaned to a weaker side where he will be the star to boost his confidence or better still engage him a sports psychologist.

As for O’Trailer …ooh lala! The man is just being true to himself. Why does this blog complain that the Trailer is too quite when he goes underground? Are we being fair to him? When he is quite we demand his comments then when he comments we call him a roumor monger or having a maggot roaming in his brain or being high on drugs. I think we are the ones with a problem. The other day he was adviced to take a hard look at himself in the mirror. No. It is us who should take that look. Let the Trailer do what he is best at. Those wise men of this blog who nominated him for the most controversial blogger of the year knew exactly what they meant. As Motema Pembe put it; we should let the Trailer be. Where can we take him? Ogango Trailer is one blogger you would hate to hate and you would love to love for his controveries. He is this blog and this blog is him. Once in a while it is healthy to have someone around us who makes us sweat under the collar and the Tailer is that man.

@OGANGO TRAILER, I agree with you that Gor Mahia belong to all of us including Taita Taveta County.

Bloggers, I think we now need to read more on where we want Gor Mahia to be next year, year 2 and year 3 under the following headings:-

    1. In the African football, where do we want Gor Mahia to occupy?

    2. What kind of personalities do we have as Executive Committee? Do we need the bloated officials? Do we need officials who are opaque and non transparent?

    3. What kind of public awareness do we need to create among our fans to avoid hooliganisms, thuggery, bhang smoking, free entry etc? Can we have fans open days on monthly basis with the club spokesman and Branch Chairmen who will be engaging our fans to avoid bad vices?

    4. Can we help the EC office to get more new sponsors of the club in all categories?

    5. Can we start talking about turning Gor Mahia into a fully fledged professional outfit?

    6. Can we start thinking of promoting and distributing Gor Mahia branded merchandises like the popular current replica and affordable jerseys for men, ladies and children, track suits, training/gym gears, caps, cups, towels, pens, jackets, magazines, watches, mobile phone covers, stickers, bags, pencils porches for school going kids, scarves, spare wheel covers etc?

    7. Can talk about turning the club into a professionally run company with Board of Directors and established secretariat with CEO, Marketing & Corporate Affairs Director, Finance & Strategic Planning Director, Fund Raising & Distribution Director and HR/Players Welfare Officer?

    8. Can we think of fund raising initiatives such as diverse and different membership fees (Gold, Platinum, Bronze), sale of club branded merchandises, Initial Public Offer (IPO) or Private Placement of shares to members and fan base, etc?

    9. Can we think of developing strong internal control systems that will guard against illegal sale of entry tickets, financial leakages, illegal sale & promotion of the branded club merchandises, strong financial management systems, internal audit systems, external audit, internal secret policing & whistle blowing systems, enhanced corporate governance etc?

    10. Can we start thinking about short-medium-long term strategy of the club?

    11. Can we start thinking of having youth teams in different academies categories under 15 years, Under 18 years and under 21 years to act as the feeder to our main club? Can we look for sponsors to help us get Kenyan youth of bad behaviours, company and groups?

Let us engage the excess energy of insults into positive energy that will take our club somewhere in the coming years.

Fellow bloggers, i couln’t stop laughing when i read some coments about harambee stars, suggesting that the team in Uganda is the best we only need 2 supertars and we’ll go places hahaa!!!!!!!!! first let me put it this way, some of us didn’t watch the match, S. Sudan out played us most of time, secondly, a team that can’t beat our neighbors Uganda Cranes cannot be great, a team that got several open chances and could not score to me is going nowhere, thirdly, we can’t gauge our strength with a country who do not even have a proper league back at home. forth i don’t know which really is our first team? is it the one with Nandwa or Michel? My take is, we still need to look hard for talented players who can take on other players around the continent with confidence.

Gor Mahia has still a surplus of Kshs.17.5 million or more.
@ 15 DAN(previous post)please note that for the EC to “allow” City Council to take 20% of the gross collections of a community club just highlights the incompetence of these officials. Why not lobby the Mayor or Local Government for a fixed rate. Look at this, when gate collections are:
    1.Kshs.60,900 the City Council is content with 20% of 60,900 = Kshs.12,180.00.Friendly against Re-Union.
    2.Rates for training are Kshs.5,000.00
3.So how does City Council now take 20% of Kshs.5,100,000=Kshs.1,020,000.00.
I hope there are receipts for these “payments” from the City Council and that the EC will negotiate better terms next season.
At one time you hire the ground for Kshs.5,000.00 and then pay Kshs.1,020,000 for the same ground.
I suggest that the EC negotiate 20% of gate collections upto a maximum of kshs.250,000.00.

ANYWAY 20% OF KSHS.25,063,448 = KSHS. 5,012,689.60 WHICH CAN EASILY BE OFFSET WHEN THE INCOME EXCLUDED IS CAPTURED I.E:
1.Gor Mahia vs City Stars, vs AFC-FKF semis, vs Sofapaka –FKF Finals. These are very high profile matches.
2.Supersport TV fees,Tshirts sales,CAF harambees etc etc. These are substantial incomes.
3.Also note that the daily expenses are based on 365 days which makes them exaggerated. I’ve done this deliberately.
4.Note that the expenses are for 12 months so kshs.17.5m should be what the EC should have as at 31/12/2012.
So with income being understated and expenses exaggerated means THAT THE SURPLUS IN REALITY IS MORE THAN kshs.17.5M.
Bloggers if Logarusic and bench took K’galo from position 14 to 2 in the league standings plus 2 trophies. SO WHAT IS WRONG IF THEIR SALARIES (and THAT OF PLAYERS) ARE INCREASED NOW THAT THE CLUB CAN AFFORD IT.
@ Ogango Trailer you will agree with me that it is easier to get water from a stone than to get any financial statement from this office. Does anyone know who Gor Mahia auditors have been or are? Show me GMFC audited accounts and I will show you a “pink elephant”.
I’ve simply used G.Bwana’s statement from the social media to come with the figures. Its upto Bwana and the treasurer to clarify the matters/ figures since Bwana is a bona fide official and nobody coerced him to release the figures.
However I can bet my bottom dollar that you will never get financial statements from this EC. We all know why! AT LEAST NOW
I REPEAT THE CHOICE IS YOURS AND MINE- EITHER WE ADVOCATE FOR OUR BENCH AND PLAYERS TO BE WELL REMUNERATED OF WE CONTINUE TO LET OUR BLOATED EC SWINDLE COMMUNITY 1.5MILLION EACH. MAYBE WE REDUCE THE EC TO 5 OFFICIALS THEN WE SAVE 7 X KSHS.1.5M I.E KSHS.10.5M.

  • I was very impressed with how kenya B played despite the muddy pitch. It was a welcome win and good played. However I still observed that some of the goals that they missed were purely on luck of concentration and body position in firing the last shot. This has been the main undoing for our strikers. A stronger team could still give us a lot of problems. I also add that ball control and calmness is key. Throwing those high balls to no one is not good. Any time you kick or pass a high and long ball, it can go any where and to any one. In fact you invite even your opponent and in that way the coordination is broken.Coach Nandwa should not at any inch be tempted to think that he is at the wings to take Kenya A. That one leave to Michele. In fact if approached he should reject. Let Michelle build the other Team. It will take time probably three to four years.
