Kogalo held to tie by City Stars finish second

In a match played at the Nairobi City Stadium, Gor Mahia were forced to a goalless draw by Nairobi City Stars. The cross city rivals put up a dogged fight to frustrate Gor Mahia. Keeper Peter Odhiambo in particular pulled off a string of saves.

As a result, Gor Mahia finished second in the national league, which us still the best position Kogalo have finished since 1997 when the star studded team of Dan Ogada, Tom Okaya, Frazier Ochieng, Tillen Oguta, Steve Okumu etc finished second to Utalii.

George “Blackberry” Odhiambo, playing in what is likely his last match for Kogalo was replaced midway through the second half. Thank you for the memories.

On behalf of gormahia.net aka Gor Mahia online supporters club , yours truly would like to thank the players for bringing glory back to Kogalo.

That was very good performance guys, you are winners all through. At the beginning of the season nobody ever thought you would achieve that much but you did, to the sweet surprise of your supporters. Take it up next season just from there where you left it. I believe you have something to achieve. Target? 2012 Africa Club champions no less, but only if we all keep our eyes on the ball and the goal. And remember Kogalo is the team to play for next season. To Black Berry, I wish you well in your new found club, may God bless you abanduntly and fly the Kogalo name even higher.

  • Pongezi sana the young lads. Let us start next season from where we had left unbeaten in 15 games. I have the following observation:-
    1. Office need to bring in players before 31 Dec 2010 to allow players adequate time to gel properly.
    2. Office should also take the team to a secluded place in Masai land.
    3. Gor will need Blackberry replacement ASAP with four new players in midfield, striking and defence.
    4. Gor need a football director to look at all football needs and nurturing of new talents.
    5. Gor need to be restructured with a full time CEO and Marketing officer.
    6. Gor need to embark on directly sourcing the replica jerseys and come up with other merchadise like umbreallas, scarves, towels, shasha, socks, track suits, bags, keyholders, caps, cups, utensils etc
    7. Gor mahia should be restructured, reorganised, rebranded and repackaged to meet the changing global football dynamics

  • Gor Mahia has done us proud and we can say that again. we won even though they won. I totally agree with Paul and to add few things.
    1. Gor Should go all out in the net, fans should be able to purchase merchandise online and that includes fans in the diaspora who are willing to purchase at wateva the cost.
    2. Gor should come open and have an audit done every year to show that we are also in the new dispensation, Gor should not lag behind a new constitution that we have fought for both as a club and as a people.
    3. the club should do a tour and meet the fans day in different parts of kenya. a day with the fans in kisumu and mombasa is good.
4.Gor mahia needs to go technical. football has ceased being played by legs but by brains. lets get technically minded players like blackberry in our team.
    5. Gor should take care of the players…get them a gym to pump muscles and a fitness expert to ensure that we are physically fit for next season.

At the begining of this season I am on record having mentioned on this forum that the team that has now made us proud was the team for next year and not this year. Indeed the boys have perfomed beyond expectation and if the same tempo is maintained next season then we will be crowned champions with 3 to 5 matches to go.
Rachier and team, how about another visit to Kampala for pre-session friendlies with SC Villa, Express and/or Bunamwaya.

  • Congratulations to GOR MAHIA. Now what the club really needs is a new soccer stadium that can hold the large number of die hard fans; a 40,000 or even a 50,000 capacity stadium is sufficient. I challenge the GOR MAHIA management to call a funds drive to last for just six monts so as to avail funds for construction of the stadium and they see the commitment of the fans. MR. RACHIER,the onus is on you. WE NEED A BIGGER AND BETTER STADIUM.
