Kagere set to leave Gor Mahia as team leaves for Ethiopia
Gor Mahia will need to defend the three titles they won in 2015 without striker Meddie Kagere. The club has been in extended negotiations with the Rwandese marksman but failed to agree to terms.
We have tried our best to negotiate with Meddie Kagere but it’s quite unfortunate we will not be able to renew his contract because we can’t meet his high demands,” said chairman Ambrose Rachier to the club site.
Kagere was an influential player for the club in 2015. He scored 13 goals in the Kenya premier league to finish among the top scorers. Most notable was his gem against Nakuru All Stars which is arguably the best goal scored in Kenya in 2015 in all competitions.
With Kagere gone, Gor Mahia now have one week to identify a replacement before the CAF deadline. One would hope that they have a backup plan. There have been reports swirling that the club was pursuing another Rwandese striker Jacque Tuyisenge but those reports have not yielded anything.
Meanwhile on Tuesday Kogalo will leave for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to play in the St.George’s 80th anniversary Cup. St George is the most popular club in Ethiopia and was formed in 1935. They have won the Ethiopian league 27 times.
“The event could not have come at a better time considering that we have key matches coming up month. We are really grateful for the invitation,”
Thank you Lwanda MaGere for being part of one of the best Gor Mahia sides in recent times. A footballer’s life span is very short. Make hay while the sun shines on you. While most of us here(most except Ingo)would have loved to see those magic runs and delightful chips next season, we understand the financial situation of our team. If,as you say, there are clubs offering better packages than Kogalo go for it. I would do the same if I were in your position. We are greatful for the selfless service you gave to our team.Greatful too for the joy you gave us in the stadium.I will treasure the memories of last season, particularly the top 8 finals in Kisumu. Fare thee well Kagere. NB.As is always the case there will be another revelation at Gor next season. I don’t know who it gonna be but Goals we will score. Many soccer pundits notably Ghost Mulee have already written us off even before the preseason. Kigali will be back stronger
My worry is that there are those games when Olunga is clueless and old hands like Kagere proved usefull.Anyway like business sometimes you lose sometimes you gain.Maybe in those tough games is Azam type we’ll have Kahata,Keli and Johanna adding a new dimension. God bless Gor Mahia.
whats the position of `cheche ` yawa, amekataa kusign ama vipi?
