Kogalo triumph in Milk Battle

In the battle of the milkmen, pitting Tuzo sponsored Gor Mahia against Brookside sponsored Thika United, it was Gor Mahia who emerged triumphant winning 3-1. Cheered on by a huge band of travelling fans , Kogalo took the game to Thika early with the forward line combination of Edwin Lavatsa and Ezekiel Odera proving to be a thorn in the side of the Thika defence.

Kogalo took the lead via Lavatsa who converted a pass from Odera. Thika were back in it through a goal from Kenneth Wendo. The second half was balanced with Thika making several runs at the Gor Mahia defence. But Jerim Onyango the Gor Mahia custodian made several brilliant saves. It was Gor Mahia who found the back of the net twice via a Kevin Omondi brace. The match saw the first time that Peter Opiyo now playing for Thika featured against his former club. Opiyo certainly is still a pass-master and he proved as much on Sunday.

The players and the coach, That is the way to go. With akumu going back to the midfield we bacame stable again, jerry did well in goal he should just avoid loosing the ball or punching the ball to the opponents direction. Let them take each match at a time.

Thanks. I must congratulate coach for reading the game well. That was a killer substitution; thats what we want. Stay focused but I still think the same that in the June transfer window get a striker of repute, money is there go for him wherever, a striker to partner Lavatsa who is turning out to be a real predator.

  • ja thur gi ji got it right ZICO is one killer striker he now needs to buy another one or create. We have a problem at Gor coz we have only one real striker and that is Edwin Lavatsa over to you ZEDY.

  • First congrats. . . . . .Kevin showed what he is best at, either as sub or a 45minue player. ZICO, continue to work on his endurance we need him to do 90 minutes.
Akumu, in mid; Odera upfront and giving him balls in space (guyz encaurage odera he can be our Messi)let us not see him as our ultimate striker but a provider.
Backline held but Wekesa was down abit still looking like a 45minute player needs more TUZO
otherwise bravo, ZICO should now settle these boys down now. I like the fact that our subs/bench were also looking good Awilo, makori, Anguyo, kevo and Ochola who finally came in.

  • I agree with you Omondi 100%. Odera was good i think our midfield should give balls in open spaces where he does not have to struggle with defenders. His crosses werre good. We really need to encourage him so much and i guess we shall all see the fruits. I think we also our players must build mass and endurance otherwise they are quality. It was good Makori did not play otherwise he would have suffered burnout. The coach needs to ensure the players dont suffer burnouts and we suffer like the City stars game. The playing pitch at Thika was a disaster what about the sitting area. God help us.

  • Thats real cool finishing Kevo. That’s it Kogalo frontline as I said b4 you must attack the other teams defendline to win. Now focus coz “haturudi nyuma kamwe” WE MUST WIN THIS TITLE BY WINNING OUR GAMES COZ unluckily for us the teams ahead of us also won their weekend matches.Kudos to the K’galo family

Kogallo, thats the way to go. Odera is turning to be a provider than a finisher which is very good. Lets encourage him. He has very neat touches and I see him and Lavasta upfront terrorising teams this season. About the pitch, I wonder how it passed the test. That pitch is only fit for grazing cattle and not playing football. KPL should ban it with immediate effect otherwise players will pick injuries for no good reason. Na tuendelee na sylo hiyo hiyo. Gor na TUZo ni moja.

  • This was a sweet victory for Kogalo fans. Wekesa was rusty due to lack of match fitness. He needs more games/matches. Otherwise the coach has continued to learn the importance of listening to fans’ concerns about the overall performance of the team. ALWAYS OUR CRITICISMS ARE AIMED AT IMPROVING THE TEAM PERFORMANCE.

  • see you in mombasa start saving guyz. other than “taking the league” most important is to get at least one player to europe 2nd year running. that is as important beacuse it is more a life changing step for any player and the club benefits over a long period and also give other players room to come through. let us rally behind the players all the time

  • THE ORIGINAL GM JERSEY was popular becoz across ua chest was printed GOR MAHIA FC hence the show off/pride by fans. It was very stylish- Was at Imenti house and they told me that the original jerseys had been phased out and no sponsor is likely to allow anything other than his brand to be prominently displayed. So if we continue “talking, talking, talking” than we’ll lose our ‘RIGHTS’ to GM e.g ceding the name GOR MAHIA FC for TUZO. In order retain such right we must match any sponsor shilling for shilling, so that outside sponsorship is not crucial for GM’s success. This can only be done if fans unite (be it as members, company ltd or trust) into a strong financial force. We are many so small but regular contributions can surprise many. P.S Let Tuzo find a place on the jersey the KIFUA SPACE IS FULLY OCCUPIED. AND THE TENANT IS GOR MAHIA FC. This, mafans is like in the early 80s when they wanted us to drop the name GOR MAHIA , never, never I say K’galo iko na wenyewe. Players’ jerseys can be branded TUZO but for fans GOR MAHIA FC remains e korwa( on our chests). I rest my case.

The sponsorship is crucial to the club. 1. We cannot afford to see hungry players on the pitch year in year out. 2. We cannot properly ascertain the club income since its only rumours that put kogalo’s gate collections at a net of 200k per match! Can you run a club at that? 3. A company ltd. Or whatever entity is just a form of ownership! Any entity under good honest management succeeds. 4. The big man syndrome! When did the executive lastly met the branch leaders? Its clear this attitude of we can do without you or how much will you give anyway or uta do? Is quite around! 5. My appeal to the branch leaders is to please work on a constitution that gives powers to branch meeting resolutions and limit the number of elective posts to very few accountable office bearers.

Right on point Agwa Kassam, these fans seem not to understand what Tuzo has done for GM, they are trash talking this deal as if they could bare the insurance premiums for the players. They are proud but they have nothing will they eat pride?

Agwa Kassam, Jakojera you have said it all. Just look at English Premiership, I dont see teams names displayed on the jersies but the sponsors. Thats the whole idea of sponsorship otherewise they have no business putting in their money in such a venture. Ma fans football has changed. Let Kogallo also change.

  • I have just read from the supersports website that Collins Okoth has been suspended by Zico. I can predict that this is beginning of Zico’s downfall and he is soon going to follow the likes of Matano, Baraza, Agido, Yakhama etal in the list of coaches that have failed to read the game. Zico has failed to unite the players and his arrongant attitude is going to be his mulfunction as the club coach.

Yes we all know that Collins has some personal problems but this boy once given the chance, he plays with total commitment to the club. The boy needs some help and we had suggested that Gor Mahia should engage psychologist to help such players unleash their hidden potentials.

Neither suspensions nor disciplinary action will help such players. I remember very well that Jolawi Obondo was very good in handling players with personal problems like Okoth.

Zico please note that your days are numbered in the club. The more you continue destroying players like Owiti, Okoth, Kitawi, Musa, Kevo, etc the more we are watching your steps. Should you fail to beat Mathare, count yourself out of Gor Mahia. We cannot stomach this far fetched attitude of destroying our club.

Paulo, such threats to the coach are unwarranted. I thought we are in the age of eliminating impunity. Why do you want to condon indiscipline. Collins Okoth is a wonderful player but if that has gotten into his head, then the coach has the right to tame him. The suspension is for the better not to damage the player. Spare the rod and spoil the child. Coach Zico, you have my support in instilling discipline in the team. Keep it up.

The story on supersport talks of a player who does not attend training. A player who has been spoken to severally in a move to try and help him. He has refused to listen and he goes ahead to say that after all he will get another club. That is not the kind of player we need in Gor. Let him go to any other club and see whether he will survive with that kind of attitude. Paulo, I beg to know how Zico is the master of impunity.

Gor Mahia have suspended midfielder Collins Okoth over disciplinary problems.

Coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno told SuperSport.com that the combative midfielder had failed to uphold the acceptable standards of discipline required at the club leaving the technical bench with no choice but to take action.

“Its very disappointing that its come to this when you consider that I got the player when he had no club and gave him a chance. But where on earth does a player come for training when he wants and does not want to be corrected?” he posed.

“Discipline is paramount for any player to be successful and we have spoken with the player several times but he refuses to listen to our advice so I had to ask him to stay home until we decide his fate,” added Otieno.

In response, Okoth posted a comment on his Facebook page saying, “I will find another club and will play as life will go on.”

These are sad news indeed! I promise not to take sides either..
    1. Its true we have a mid field crisis.. in some professions they talk of contributory neglegence..what could have been brewing that ended with this destructive and bitter alcohol?
    2. Those who have been around Gor for a few years can remember that guy Oyombe who could play in any team in the world including any time call up to the Harambee stars! well he went to the any other teams but to date i have no news of him when the National team needs him badly let alone local clubs!
3.We can see the high flying Pinchez hanging around lower the class entities when he could easily grab a big club in the US or Italy but has been reduced to a perennial trialist!
    4. I feel poor and downgraded indeed if all i witness is careers destroyed of really promising players..
    IT IS SAD INDEED!
Zico may have his new team and his job but trust me Zangi could have played along Roger Miller..

But i do not know how he ended his career BUT GUYS WE ARE RESPONSIBLE!

I DONT WANT TO BE SORRY AGAIN BUT RESPONSIBLE PLEASE!
