Imbem has been barred from playing

Gor Mahia are upset with the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) for barring them from signing two players ahead of the second leg, which kicked off last weekend.

Gor could not field former Tusker forward Itubu Imbem (pictured) and Osca Mbugua formerly of Nairobi City Stars against Western Stima on Saturday after failing to get clearance from the league company in time for the restart of the league.

Club secretary George Bwana said the action by KPL was unfair and unwarranted.

“We did everything as per the rules and are shocked that KPL has declined to approve our signings as it ought to be,” said Bwana.

Bwana dismissed reasons given by the company that one of the players Mbugua has a running contract while Imbem lucks a work permit.

“We have evidence that Mbugua is no longer a City Stars player after we paid his club a transfer fee while Imbem got his permit two years ago and we have been informed by the Immigration department that it is still valid and can be used,” said Bwana.

KPL rules

Bwana sees KPL’s action as sabotage and said the club is considering other options on dealing with the matter.

But KPL Chief Executive Jack Oguda insisted that the club must get a new work permit for Imbem if they want to use him during the league’s second leg.

“Our rules are very clear. Any club that acquires a foreign player must get a work permit for them even if they did have one with another club and this is what Gor ought to do if they want to use the player,” said Oguda.

Oguda also said that Gor couldn’t be allowed to sign Mbugua because they have already signed the maximum number of players required during this transfer window.

So who has not done what, where ,when? If they are not signed then what happens, Ngwa is already out?

galary antics again. how will going to the press help you bwana. pls realise that it’s very noticable how you try to engage mob psychology every time you have a problem at gor. oguda has quoted two rules; why don’t you answer to them, are they true or not…yaani sort it out with fkl. its ur comments which now excite the stone throwers to behave as they do…reason being that they pretty much reason as you do.
    1. has gor signed the maximum numb of players that now excludes mbugua?
    2. did you get a new work permit for imbem?
3.FINALLY ARE THIS RULES TRUE OR NOT?

who is asking for evidence that mbugua is nolonger a player at city. what the guy is telling you is that even if messi has no club now and wants to join gor for free at this moment, he will not be able to. can you understand that?

  • Oyugi akuot says:

@DINGA & JA THUR GI JI pls can we also consider when the rules quoted above came into operation and are they applied evenly, what is the law in relation to labour laws and katiba ya kenya’s position on the issue of work permit because i do believe kpl rules contradicts the said law. Football is as any employment and once the work permit is not expired then its valid except for where a special restriction was stated on it at the time of first issue. Am an accountant not a lawyer so i stand to be corrected. 2. Did city stars issue as with transfer release letter when we paid them for the player as claimed by the sec. Gen.? If yes then the previous contract deemed null and void. 3. While IMBEM was playing for tusker after AFC release which work permit did he use, new one or the same as afc? What of SELENGE’s case what happened when he came to GM and now at sofapaka? This can form precedent in law.

It is simple! KPL are acting in good faith to safeguard players’ interest against clubs who blindly hire uneconomical players who they later dump within 1/2 year! GOR GOONS MILITIA FC is a very good living evidence of this act and right now, some players who you dumped 4 months ago are yet to be paid due to lack of funds. Secondly, you can talk nicely to INGWE EC through “Warrior Magelo” to help you with IMBEM’S work permit na msimwambie OGUDA at KPL!

    G. BWANA’s INCOMPETENCE AS GS IS WANTING

Again, the standoff between Gor Mahia and FKL concerning the new players has brought to the fore the competency of our secretary general. Instead of concentrating to carry out his core duties, G. Bwana has choosen to pay lip service to every issue that comes before him.

I have personally complained loudly that the roles of the SG and that of the chairman are not clearly defined creating conflict of interest. FKL rules are crystal clear. A foreign player must obtain a new work permit before joining another club. Oscar’s issue too are purely administrative and G. Bwana should have done his work thouroughly.

Nonetheless, the two sides must sit down again and find the best way forward. This includes fastracking the work permit for Imbem and iron out any outstanding issues related to Mbugua. The least we expect to hear from the coach is derailment of his league program by the likes of G. Bwana who never treat their work with the seriousness it deserve. Our competitors in the league are psyched for a second with little distractions,.

  • Walter Alando Bwoga says:

Now that Jack Oguda is saying we have already signed the maximum number of players required during this transfer window it means even if we cleared the contract issue for Mbugua and work permit for Imbem it could have not made any difference. The point is this – never wait until it’s last minute then you inconvenience players.

  • Dan says:

Just read (futaa.com) that Mbugua has been signed already and GM is awaiting clearance for Mubiru and Imbem. Who is telling the truth? Surely the Sec Gen should familiarise himself with the KPL rules. One thing I can tell about Oguda is that he is running KPL very competently. Compare with FKL who cannot even organise the fixture for the FKF cup ati because they are having a SGM. I have ever seen CECAFA, CAF and even FIFA holding their congdress while the world cup is going on. Talk of incompetence. Remeinds me of not able to run and think

I have for sometime kept off this blog and for that reason beg to be allowed to make my contribution.I believe that leaders are leaders and deserve praise and constructive critism.I hardly here ourselves give our officials praise even in good moments,we should learn to appreciate coz we shall one point be where our brothers are, and may reqiure the same,or who knows may be they were our type then.
As far as the topic is concerned which i stand to be corrected, the issue of work permit as it stands and as stated by Oyugi is a a labour related matter and or unless the permit has expired then the officials have a duty to ensure renewal. On the issue of the no.of signings other teames have signes more than 3 players [Sony & City Stars are examples].We just need to support the officials where possible.

  • fellohUSA says:

as much as i dont agree with Mr. Bwana KPL is applying double standards, why is it only when it concerns Gor that allt his crazy rules apply….Imbem played with the same work permit for AFC n Tusker did this escape Oguda hawk eye n meticulous memory or did someone inform him of the rule when its Gor case. Who remembers when Efusi cleared their ranks and signed more than 9 players and that’s the time we signed Demonde now why is it Gor being used to implement the laws….i think their is someone who goes through the rules anytime Gor do things to get us into a fix and i bet they have their allegiance to efusi…

  • jb says:

if at all we had a CEO this work would have been simplified but with bwana and all the scandals following him expect more of this lads

  • ODUOR12 says:

WHAT WE HAVE IS AN INEXPERIENCED EC THAT CAN RUN THE AFFAIRS OF A CLUB OF K’GALO’S STANDARD/STATURE EFFECTIVELY & EFFICIENTLY.

Most will agree with me that with the lack of a secretariat well versed in football affairs/rules be it local, regional or continental rules, our almost entirely new EC (comprised of able professionals in Journalism, law and marketing etc)are SIMPLY LEARNING THE ROPES OF MANAGING A FOOTBALL CLUB BY TRIAL AND ERROR.

THE KNOW IT ALL ATTITUDE ADOPTED BY SOME OFFICIALS IS NOT HELPFUL AND IS COSTING THE CLUB DEARLY IN TERMS OF NEGATIVE PUBLICITY,FINANCIALLY AND TIME.
Look at the following few examples:
1.Late registration of players for the CAF cup resulting in a penalty.
2.Initial squad size of plus 35 players resulting was a heavy financial burden with the club paying salaries for unused players e.g Selenge, Niger Nwosu etc etc
3.The same can be said for a bloated technical bench .
4.Delay in renewing lapsing player contracts leading to the loss of Masika
5.Not to 4get the recently organized village dance/disco fiasco
    WAY FORWARD.
CONVERT THE EC INTO A BOARD(REDUCED SIZE) AND HAVE A FULL TIME SECRETARIAT TO DO THE DAY TO DAY MATTERS.
One reason why we need the arrogant Logarusic is coz he sorted out some of above problems. We need a Logarusic (someone like KQ’s MD Naikuni or better Safaricom ex CEO) to sort out this EC.
EC SEEK ADVICE ON THESE MATTERS COZ THEY SIMPLY DON’T HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE.

KPL & FKL a barb goes to you too, HOW IS IT THAT THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE LEAGUE/CUP MATCH ON THE SECOND WEEK OF THE 2ND HALF OF THE SEASON.

  • Dan says:

Rangers have lost 13 and signed 15 players. So what is the big deal with when it comes to GM?
By the way Pascal has gone to AFC so we will have to do with our defense as it is

  • ODUOR12 says:

You see for Imbem now K’galo will have to fork out the work permit fee (which is about 150K) in addition to the transfer fee for the player. That could have been the reason why tusker may have let him go?

  • Walter Alando Bwoga says:

Dan @12 thanks for the info about Pascal. I dint know he’s in AFC Leopards camp. Oduor @13 what happens if EC or whoever pays for Imbem’s new work permit of 150k? I saw Oguda previously mentioning we’ve exceeded the limit in signing. What is the maximum signings expected from each club?

  • Dan says:

Anyway, now we have both Mbugua and Imbem, but awaiting Mubiru’s transfer. That one might not go through because KCC is asking for some large amount as well as the work permit issue. If only we had a separate person from SG doing this work. There needs to be separation of duties even in EC. As of now we don’t even know who the spokesman is.

  • Le Pastre says:

I am not better than anybody in terms of football management, but we MUST spare the EC some flack because they deserve their pound of flesh.

    1. The KPL is applying double standards when it comes to issues concerning Gor Mahia .
Can Oguda and the men of his ilk on both sides of the divide answer TRUTHFULLY the following questions?

    a) Is there a FIFA law regulating the no. of players that a team can lose(outgoing) and a team can sign(incoming) during a single transfer period /window? If there is, what does it say?

    b) Rangers lost 15 players and signed 13 players in the just concluded transfer window!
Gor Mahia have released 13 players and were trying to sign 7 players in the same transfer window. KPL have refused them to. (reason: that they hve already signed (6) the max no ALLOWED BY KPL LAW on transfers.) Really Mr. Oguda? What abt Rangers signing 15 players, and AFC Leopards signing 9 players last season in the same transfer window? I believe, according to you Mr. Oguda, the three teams play in diffent Leagues then!

    c) Can Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Sofapaka and Tusker confirm to us whether they have always acquired new work permits for the foreign players they have exchanged amongst themselves in the past? If yes, what was the status of the work permit the said player was holding? Valid or expired work permit?

Once ALL the above QUERIES are TRUTHFULLY And conclusively have been answered, only then can the fans throw barbs and a portion blame.
    THANK YOU.

  • pliz george let ngwa play he has brought us froooooom far.
