Late arrivals blamed for slow start

Gor Mahia assistant coach Frank Ouna who has recently been appointed as an assistant coach for Harambee stars, is adamant that the pathcy pre-season training that the team had is the reason for the slow start to the 2016 season.

“It’s a testament of the fragmented pre-season we had. So as coaches we are not worried since we know it’s a matter of time, probably two weeks from today and we will hit our top most gear.

I think there’s nothing to worry about. We are in control of everything, the kind of performance we have been putting in, if you observe the Bandari, Chemelil and now the Posta Rangers games, we keep improving and going up,” the recently appointed Harambee Stars third coach affirmed.

“We had players coming in at different times during pre-season and it affects since you expect them to work as a unit. We are just two weeks away to completing the normally six weeks of pre season with everybody in.” said Ouna to Citizen sports.

Ouna further stated that the team had not planned to field Wafula at half-time but his inclusion was neccesitated by the injury to Blackberry.

“Wafula had done only a few days, we had planned to play him only 20 minutes yesterday (Sunday) but unfortunately George got injured and he had to play for 45 and that is risky for us but we had our chances limited.” he continued.

It is interesting that in this case, Gor Mahia opted to replace a striker with a midfielder. This means they were hoping to hold onto their one goal lead. Chances are that Nuttall now does not quite trust his attack and is more apt to rely on defense to win games.

Skipper Jerim Onyango is also of the opinion that the team will rectify the mistake that saw them concede a late goal.

“I feel bad for conceding a goal in that minute, this is a football game and all in all we will rectify the mistakes and things will be okay he said after the match.  We will be under pressure to perform because that is two matches in a row for us without a win in KPL we will still continue to work hard and perform.”  said Jerim after the match.

Michael Olunga’s transfer fees

Reports suggest that IF Djugarden will pay Ksh 16 million as transfer fees for Michael Olunga. The bulk of this amount will go to Liberty Professionals whose technical director is Jacob Ghost Mulee. Gor Mahia ars said tio be in line to receive Ksh 1 million from the transfer.

“Since he is still U-23, we are entitled to development fee which is a percentage of the transfer fee. We are consulting with his handlers to understand exactly how much was paid before we can claim our share,” Ngala told Goal.

The reported transfer fee once again highlights the need to maintain the Gor Mahia U19 team which is capable of unearthing talents like these at the grassroots.

So who was supposed to manage the preseason preps?

@ jthur gi ji, even OUNA was A.W.O.L as JBO had resigned due to outstanding and unpaid salary. FN was holidaying in Scotland as AR was busy with FKF elections. That means Ngala and Kilo were running the show within executive while Ottamax, Ogweno and Jolawi were busy recruiting and handling pre-season training.

This “ka-team” of 2016 is stupidly banking and dreaming on the past glory of 2015 while the competitions are taking advantage of the earliest opportunities to pin them down in the mid-table . The TB also is short of ideas on how to workout different combinations and chemistry that is devoid of “PATIA NZIGIYiMANA OR ABOUBA” to bring in diagonal crosses.

CNAPS return leg is merely a formality and we should expect the “K-OGALO” delegation to return home with nothing good to write about. After that ULINZI and AFC will condemn US to where CHELSEA is in BPL.
“WATCH THIS SPACE”………………………………..AM NOT PESSIMISTIC BUT THAT IS A REALITY AS OF NOW.

@Ogango Trailer, maybe you can take a break and resume after we will have beaten Ulinzi and Ingwe. As you watch Gor I hope you watch the other teams as well. We are not a thousand miles from the top teams as you are trying to put it. Ain’t we the same fans who called Nuttal a fitness trainer and JBO a perpetual depty coach. And remember ow we used to scorn @ingo and other ingwe guys on this site. The shoe now is on our feet

The optimists amongst us still believe we are on course to match last year’s performance. That should be the rallying call. If we listen too much of those who don’t believe then we will fight for a top 8 position. The truth is that this year we might not win the league but we will be in the top 3. The reason fr this is tat the competition is gonna be stiffer than last year and every single point will count

We will win the league this season. Fact is we didn’t prepare well during preseason and that is telling already. But Gor has the wherewithal to put together 5 to 6 wins in a row, no other team can do that at the moment. Yes we shud be worried about the perennial lack of preseason but I wudnt be worried about the end game. This is mighty Kogalo!!!

@Dan original you can only BELIEVE what you have you have seen and not what you are dreaming of. Reality observation is not about being pessimistic but rather “HIO NDIO UKWELI WA MAMBO”.
Please wake up and smell the coffee and accept that the TB is in self denial to accept that there is no self belief and winning mentality in the team. And if the trend continues then that TOP 8 is merely a wishful thinking.

@Ogango, do you believe in God who I belive you haven’t seen. Most of us believe yet we haven’t seen HIM. Likewise I believe Gor will rise

  • “Its a testament of the fragmented preseason we have had” … what bunch of manure! Gor had the best preseason preparations than any othe KPL team. The issue here has to do with coaching. The players that came in late should have been benched until they have a couple of practices under their belt. What the coaches have done is basically select match day players based on their salary rank and not merit

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses and more Excuses. KICHAPO is coming !..First comes CNAPS this weekend , then Ulinzi and then the icing on the cake the match against the in form mashemeji.

The next 3 weeks will determine what Kogallo is truly made of and could easily seal our fate for this season.

    I remain bitterly realistic.

Gor has drawn only two games. So far am not worried yet. I will start getting worried if they do their 7th game without a win. And by the way, even the other teams enter the field to win, not to lose.

  • I hate to hear of fans likening our current situation to chelsea. Chelsea have seriously rejuvenated unlike gor which draws no lesson from their lackluster performance.
There is no cause for alarm since gor has no targets, no dreams and nothing to fight for this season.
Surely speaking, a loss to bandari, a loss to CNAPs, a draw against chemelil then a draw against posta consecutively?! Let us prepare to battle relegation.

@Akinyi keep on dreaming as you turn a blind eye on the obvious downward trend starting with the EC vs FN fallout, then Bandari defeat, then followed by CNAPS humiliation combined with the dressing room drama and two anticipated consecutive draws.
And u still expect the best which according to your analysis is yet to come. To come from where?
Table standings do not lie irrespective of whether the competition is at preliminary or advanced stage. Teams are building up their momentum based on performance and not wishful thinking.

We are still on course; only two points are separating us from the first teams on the log.

To be sincere, all teams seem to be struggling because as at now no team has won the two matches in a row. It was either a draw and a win or a win and a loss…

We are not pessimist. We are realists. I do not expect this team to win the league every year. I am willing to lose if the team did everything they could to win. For example when the team lost the league on the last day of 2010, I did not feel bad. Everyone tried their best from coach Zedekiah to the players and the officials.
However when the team lost badly to Ferroviario of Mocambique because of infighting within the technical bench and EC, I could not stomach it. The same thing happened this year and Kogalo have already lost to CNaPS, a team they beat last year. All because of dysfunction.
Fans should not shy away from speaking up when there is dysfunction. But what are the solutions? For one thing, If there is still a cold war between EC and Nuttall, the team will suffer.

Guys, Agwanda is the main striker he should not be substituted. let him play alongside keli or another striker. No striker is better than him in Gor squad currently.
