Leopards keen on Jerim

Courtesy of supersport.com

Kenyan Premier League December–January transfer window could well be set for major action with giants AFC Leopards going public to state that they are eyeing a swoop for Gor Mahia captain Jerim Onyango.

Leopards chairman Alex Ole Magelo confirmed the club has had contact with the player and even agreed to a meeting where a number of issues pertaining to the move would be discussed.

Ole Magelo said he was optimistic that the two parties will reach an agreement over a move ahead of the 2013 league season.

“We are interested in getting him to our team after a disappointing season in the goalkeeping department and we have even approached him over a possible move to Ingwe. So a meeting is scheduled where we will discuss a few matters over it and I hope we will reach an agreement because we want an experienced player like him,” he said.

On contacting the player, he acknowledged that indeed Leopards officials had spoken to him about a possible move but said no deal has been reached yet, verbally or in writing, and confirmed a meeting was scheduled.

“Some people from the club talked to me showing their interest in signing me for next season but it was just that; nothing was agreed, neither verbal nor written. I will be waiting to see how things go from now on.” Jerim said.

The player has been in fine form for Gor mahia as the team marched to a second place finish in the KPL.

I really don’t understand this club called Ogwang’. Why is it that to them it is always greener on the other side of the fence which in many occasions happens to be Gor Mahia’s side?

To Ole Magelo: please come out clearly and declare all that you wish to acquire from K’Ogalo. Don’t feel embarassed to declare your interest even in Mapunda’s towel because I know that you actually want it very badly. State everything you need from us and we shall gladly let you have them.

Jerim shud turn down the offer. We need to keep our bench strength, especially with continental football next season. Instead we should go back for Masika and other quite players in the league. Mieno, Blackberry, a quick left back etc

Boss what do u need Masika for instead we have David Owino .And for Jerry he should think twice what if he agree to go and the new coach dont like him??? Have never seen a player being bought and there is no TB in place seen what happened to Chechenko and Ballack when Abromovich brought them to Chealsea without blessing of TB that was the end of them.Jaugenya think it might be good money but it may cost you your career

To all, if the deal is good for Jerrim and he wants to go, he should be allowed to do so. Fans should not throw abuses at him. He has helped move this club forward and must be respected for that and if possible be given a standing ovation when an opportunity arises.

We must learn to respect people’s wishes. And remember, tomorrow Gor may also need to raid another club for a player. We should learn to always wish each other best of luck in future endavours. People have to move on in life and we need each other outside football.

I would hate to see people abusing a former players just because they have made decisions that is good for them

The final decision as to whether to move or stay is the player’s: Jerim’s. I trust that the player knows what is best 4 his professional career and development. What I may however wonder is why they are making a move 4 Jerim? This is a club that has a penchant 4 ethnicity. Remember the reasons they advanced 4 the need to sign both Masika and Were? They needed the two because these “were their sons”. Therefore, to them, a p;ayer of Luhya descebt is first and foremost, a Luhya before they become professionals. That may mean a player’s career may be nipped in the bud if the player is not “their son”. For Jerim, whichever decision you shall take, I wish you the very best. If you move on, I think <apunda and Kasaya will sufficiently rise to the occasion.

King Jerry, it is your choice to play foot ball and it has served well to batter your bread. The search for daily bread is on till death and the desire to acquire more wealth is what makes us go for greener pastures.Your consideration to leave for another club is wright but ill timed. If I put it to you that what happened on 10/11/12 at city stadium was pre planned to create for you an exit route and ensuere that Gor’s continental hopes are ruined, what wuod be your response? I advise you to properly vet your options but Gor and the fans forever one.

Jery may be tempted to go to the ‘other’ side but let me assure you he will end up dipping in form like Masika. AFC leopards’ performance went down because of indiscipline and they only need a coach who can take full charge and not Jery. If only Masika remained in GM for one more year he would have been very far by next year (2013). Anyway, because it’s all about money, let Jery decide since football is a very short and fast career just like music career where you need to make money fast before new talents emerge in the market.

Personally i wish Jery all the best, with that error that costed us the title, i don’t think Jery will recover soon, its better for him to cross over and re-build his confidence. Gor has the best players in that department, we need not worry. Ingwe should look for players else where, raiding Gor every year won’t win them the title, since Ingwe believes that they have money, they should go and buy players from EPL

I totally agree with most bloggers that Jerry should just go if he is not keen in staying in Gor Mahia. He is interested in Ingwe. We can not force him to stay. Let him go.

Jerry’s primary school mistake cost us the league and he should just go.

I said here again and again that lets not talk bad about Jerry going to EFUSI,when Masika was living GOR i said the same thing,if you live GOR for mashemeji your game will never be the same again,we know this history and i will repeat what hapened to John Okello Zangi after living for efusi what hapened? he played for less than two seasons and left just to go mad and to be found dead on the streets of kisumu, the other day Masika left when he was at his peak,by the way by the time masika was living he was the one regarded as the most promising defender kenya was going to have then what hapened? even by the way have had even efusi wants to offload him because he has not perfomed to there xpectation, this are the players targeted by the club this season to offload if they get another defender,so lets live Jerry aka Jagol alone if he feels like crossing over to mashemeji let be it and lets pray for him,we must learn to apreciate the contribution he made to our team ingawa alituuza when we needed him most but that is now water under the bridge lets focus on our recrutment for the coming season,i rest my case

  • @Ogango Trailer and @TCAS it seems that you are reading from a different script from all the oher bloggers. What sin has Jerry commited if he wants to better his life? The Mumias deal, you cannot compare with TUZO’S. If we really love gor we should wish Jerry all the best so that we can also send a good message to those that are still there. I believe most bloggers here either work or are in some institute of some sort. How many of you have changed jobs or colleges beacuse of better offers? These intolerance from us is the one causing the club to make one step forward and two backwards. If you were Loga and you were offered five times what gor has to offer what would you do? I’m surprised that even Koops who has retired was being paid, so what do you think of Loga. All we should do is to implement and localise the ways of working of Loga instead of throwing tantrums. Gor was there before most of us, Jerry and Loga included, and it will continue being there and winning trophies. Let’s learn from the Chair. When he released Awono he still organised a farewell bash for him. Let’s not chect thump when we cannot compete with the rest financially. Like I said before players Yanga, Azam and Simba pay almost three time what we pay Kenyan players and the coaches there are even well paid. So let’s measure the clothe as per our capability. It’s good to want the best but can we keep the best. Let’s not forget that players like Bobby remained in Gor beacuse financially they were well-catered for by their employers i.e. KQ, Posta, KPA, etc. And that’s no longer the case

These people play football to meet their daily needs, people quit their jobs because they want to grow financially and so do players switch clubs for the same reason.if jerry or any other person moves,it’s for their own good.Tafadhali tuwacheni matusi.
My main concern for these players is what they’l become after joining efusi, they either work harder else, pikcha Masika, bagaye for instance, they joined efusi with great potentials, nowadays masika does not even have confidence in himself when controlling the ball.kama unataka kwenda efusi, all the best lakini uwachane na pombe na ingwelets

@Nyakogalo i salute you. You’ve handled the Jerry bit so completely. I strongly oppose the notion that no one leaves GM to succeed elsewhere. Let players be professionals who can work as far as possible from their mums.

O’Trailer i hope you’re wrong on Love A Star, I hope its not right that his dip in form is coz he has eyes on ‘Ingwe’. The big book says the heart is deceitful and so it may work against him. I think the guy suffered a long term injury and as it normally occurs this interferes with players all over the world look at Essien of Chelsea.

Many others know that Loga once mentioned he was on the way out for a five times pay! We need not abuse him for that! Let him just move for greener pastures! We also remember the time he pleaded for a chance to get Harambee stars job. He will eventually go. As Dan puts it who wouldn’t jump on a greener pasture?

As for Jerry, I don’t think the mistake should be reason for his abuse and departure. Lets wish him well, but i need to say for myself that he should make sure he goes this time round because the impression is already out and if a mistake like that happens again (the goal against Thika) it may be treated by unscrupulous fans as subbotage not withstanding that Jerry has been doing this for along time.

I still don’t understand why some people think local coaches have nothing or little to offer yet the Kenyan league has just been won by a Local coach. same as last year where as this year we had two white men in the league and last year there was one. You will worship these people for a long time in vain only to realize that a coach is a coach and should be judged on the basis of results not skin colour.

In a case where you have the Bwana and Kilos drawing a line up and recruiting con men into the team for whatever commissions what do you expect?

A move to ingwe is the last thing I ever expected our captain to evem have interest at.
Most footballers who move to other clubs for money never make it far. Kolo Toure and adebayor moved from Arsenal to Man city, where are they now, joey barton recently admitted that he moved to QPR for money, hope we all know what he has gone through.
If Jerry were to move for footballing reasons, then i would understand hin but for money, no. Choice is Jerry’s, hope he get advice from past successful footballers, some one like Shikanda, Sammy sholei or Boniface Ambani before he commit to ingwe or gor again.

These kinds of rush conclusions is what will destroy us. Who says negotiations with coach have closed and who says one cannot go visit his people especially that his family is in Croatia? Lets be patient as I know there are very serious Gor lovers out there who will seriously negitiate for Logas contract. We need him much more now that we have a continental assignment coming. Lets not make conclusions here, its not the right forum.Nevertheless we need correct official position reports from the office on the coach.

As for Jerry there is nothing like greener pasture anywhere, there is also pride in this; he simply has to negoniate terms with Gor first if he is sincere. He has to show that somebody is offering better terms than he is currently offered at Kogalo.

Be patient bro, this is soccer and these players need money and again they are entitled to their own decision, you can’t decide for them. Jerry will go if he decides and many more will come. For Jerim, I think that he has done his best except for that unfortunate mistake which any player can make and will still make so long as soccer is still being played. For his move if it should mature, two things can be observed. 1.This is setting us for another pulsating rivalry between Gor and AFC for the next season and this is good. 2. Afc.is deliberate in hitting Gor below the belt which is not good. I think they should instead go for a thorough search in other clubs that are not fellow competitors. They should just work hard at improving players within their fold.

My fellow bloggers, after reading all these comments, compliments and suggestions, something came to light, football is all about money, for one to get the best coach and players you must spend good money and be ready to pay them well as per the market. That brings me to our TUZO deal, did the negotiators factor all these, and if so, i don’t think we should be worried as we can still replace those who want to leave perfectly and K’ogalo will always be mighty in our local derbies. If the deal was not that good, then its high time our officials start looking for a better sponsor with money and commitment to the club, Gor is a big club and need a big sponsor without “Vikwazo’s”

  • There is no problem in the coach leaving for other pastures. At least he has talked to our office to try and get a better deal.

As for our former captain, he should also have had some courtesy of at least trying to get a better deal within first before going before the media and declaring he is talking to Ingwe. Ingwe is not Tusker nor is it Sofapaka. He is trying to get back at someone with his move. What a pity!

EC please try and get a sponsor for the coming two seasons and also put your finances in order. Kogalo collected more from the Thika game than the league winning price and i still continue to hear people crying about how we are broke. When will the club ever be rich? How much more must fans pay? How much more? As fans we have done and continue to do our bit and we always hope that the EC is also trying to improve on management and accountability.

As for Jerry’s mistake, shit happens and everyone makes some at one point or another, he should not be demonised for one yet he was consistent all that time. Remember we were all disappointed when he made that mistake.

We drop our girl/boyfirends, betray our friends etc. Personally I pay tribute to Loga and Jerry for what hey did for us this year. What if we won the league and Jerry still insisted of leaving? What would the bloggers be saying? From the ‘tones’ I can only say that we are ‘bitter about losing the title’ and have not recovered.
I like the way @Nyakogalo is reasoning. I wish we could carefulyy internalise what she is saying. To enjoy a game like soccer you need the ups and downs that take us emotionally through a rollercoaster. Now that we are saying some waende. Who will tell the fans and bloggers who are not for the good of gor also to leave? I have realied that lack of accepting the reality is what causes problems in gor. Too much expectations and hopes but not based on any long-term plan. We should be talking of hiring City stadium as was suggested earlier than who is leaving.
Not even a single blogger has tlked on who to be brought now that some are leaving. And who tells us that only Jerry wants out? Don’t be surprised to find out that without Loga other players might also leave

@Nyakogalo, football is about money and winning titles. If Jerry feels that he can win titles and get a big fat pay cheque, let him go.

Gor over the years have had better or best players..but there comes a time when change or retirement is pertinent and there is nothing wrong if a player wants to leave for better pay or winning imaginary trophies. Masika did it and we all mourned but has he won a trophy?

I still insist that the Thika goal was suspect and unco-ordinated exposing the goal posts to the Thika opponents was the order of the day on that specific day.

There are many and mature goalkeepers that can join Gor Mahia at any time so stop mourning over Jerry my sister.
