Loga going on leave

For a team that was on cloud nine towards the end of 2012 season, Gor Mahia’s head coach Zdravko Logarusic has been at pains trying to explain the goal

There will be no KPL matches this weekend as the National team prepare for a World Cup qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles to be played at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Wednesday. But as the league takes a break, the coach left for Croatia last evening unsure about his return.

“I have to go since I need time to relax and stay away from football,” said Zdravko, as he was preparing to take his flight back to Croatia, stating that he doesn’t know when he’ll come back.

Speaking on telephone to FeverPitch, the club Secretary General, George Bwana, said there’s absolutely nothing to worry about Zdravko leaving the country and that the Croat, like any other employee, is ‘just on leave.’

A section of Gor fans and officials alike have expressed their unhappiness with the Croat’s tactics and approach to matches. The club just got bundled out of the prestigious KPL TOP 8 Tournament, in which they were the defending champions after failing to make a mark in the continental tourney.

However, the recent loss away to Western Stima at Mumias Sugar Sports Complex seems to have rubbed some officials the wrong way and a section of Gor’s loyal and active fans who have previously questioned the coach’s pay are now pushing for explanation or action to be taken against the Croat. They are saying that the coach isn’t giving them value for money.

“Zdravko is earning too much yet the team is not winning. Instead, the boys display a lackluster performance, unlike the previous beautiful game attributed to Gor,” said Osewe Kaluoch, who is the Secretary of Gor’s Away Branch.

Last Tuesday, the club’s technical Committee was locked up in a closed-door meeting in what FeverPitch can now reveal was an emergency meeting called to discuss the team’s latest string of poor results.

In a meeting chaired by the Club’s treasurer Samuel Ominde, questions were raised on the whereabouts of senior vice chairman, David Kilo, who led the delegation to Mumias. Apparently, some of the committee members felt that the players could have done better than letting go all the three points.

“Preparing a team for a match is not a walk in the park. As such, we are upset with the latest string of poor results. I am keenly following all the leads just to unearth the cause of poor results,” said Bwana.

Gor Mahia members are set to conduct their club elections at the end of this year. The tell-tale signs of the usual mudslinging and blame games within the club’s top decision-making organ are quite clear.

One of the club officials, who isn’t allowed to speak on behalf of the club, told FeverPitch that some of the club officials have started aligning themselves in preparation for November polls and, in turn, such developments hamper the team’s preparations for matches.

  • C’mon dont quarrel just buy players and good ones coz we the funs pay heavily to come to the stadium and we cant afford to see lurkslature performance as had been in the last few matches. Apparently, the officials take our commitment to the club for granted. take the example of Sofapaka, you dont perform you go.they dont play for free,so get very very serious with their mode of play. Some teams are just crying for that adent fun base yet they cant get.

  • A few issues
    1. Just thinking could the recent attacks on innocent K’galo fans, property and players @ Muthuruwa & Molo have something to do with the club’s Embakasi plot. The attacks seem to be very well orchestrated “mafia style” to intimidate the club to its core.
    2. By allowing Logarusic to go on leave when we are placed 7th on the table, shows that the executive community is not serious. WHO WILL IDENTIFY THE SIGNING OF PLAYERS, WE DON’T WANT THE STORIES THAT LOGA LEFT A LIST. YES WITH A HEAVY HEART I THINK ITS TIME TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER COACH.
    3. FANS WE DON’T NEED 14 OFFICIALS WHO AFTER 2 YEARS IN THE OFFICE DON’T EVEN HAVE MONEY TO SIGN IDENTIFIED PLAYERS YET GMFC IS THE BEST SUPPORTED CLUB IN THE COUNTRY. WHERE DOES K’GALO MONEY GO, DID WE GET AN IMPROVED DEAL WITH TUZO, LETS REDUCE THIS OFFICE TO 5 OFFICIALS

What nonsense is this?who goes on leave after just 5 months of work?don’t we have a management team that is supposed to keep errant staff in check??

While other teams are busy recruiting and re-strategising for the 2nd leg we are busy sending our coach on holiday….and we expect to win the league?????

Who has employed who here? A cool 0.5M with leave after every 6 months! Wow…There are not so many such lucrative jobs. On a serious note leaves are taken after working hard, getting exhausted but seeing the results of the hard work. What does the Log have to show for the past half season? A goalless draw with Homeboyz?

Nawaomba tafadhalini wanakamati ya Gor Mahia mtafuteni mkufunzi mwingine ambaye ana maono. Let the journey man walk on to Zamalek (strangely we don’t hear of the Zamalek story anymore).

Listen to Luc Eymael discuss his recruitment plans and you realise that that is a guy who has a work plan.

  • Guys, all Loga has to do is to identify the players he wants and the EC can do the rest. Do we expect the coach to buy the players? What’s wrong with going on leave when the league is on recess?
In Gor we blame the coach while in Ingwe they blame the players. In general we need to put our house in order and the first thing is to have the EC do what they are supposed to do. Losing a game is part of football and the issue is how fast we will arise from that lose.
Looking for a new tactician because the other one has gone on leave is just like you being replaced permanently at work since you went on leave. Getting JBO to take over with the same EC and players will also not amount to much. We have been there and we all know how EC, fans, TB and the players relate to local coaches.
So fans and Gor lovers don’t raise the temperatures for things we can easily control. For now the best we can do is to suggest how we can improve this BIG club. Which players, TB members do we have in mind and how can we contribute towards bringing those players? Now that Mourinho has benn snapped by Chelesa, Gourdiola by Bayern and Pelligrini by Man City who do we have in mind to steer Gr to that Summit we dream of.

  • Bobby Williamson, the ex-cranes coach is still available. Can he do what we feel Loga has not been able to do? Can we afford him if even Pinches we were unable to match Ingwe? Over to you fans who dream BIG. Please help us here. What we need are funds for signing as well as the monthly payment.

  • This man is a ‘Waiganjo’.

It’s better to finish number 10 but have our legendary Sir Bobby build a decent home this season after earning 0.5 m a month.

On recruitment, there is yet another ‘Sereginene’ in City Stars who looks good.

The Suarez of KPL Bageya looks like a top buy for me. Let us forget his past and get this boy to join his school mate at Gor.

Rama can then revert to attacking midfield together with Kiongera, Odhis and Ade.

On coaching, as i said before and will repeat again, we should hire Jacob Ghost Mulee who is the most decorated local coach and is not engaged by any top club. Give him 0.5 m and the space we give ‘wazungu’ and i’m sure he will deliver.

  • the coach is a big joker and the sooner the GM fans realize that the better, next in line is G.Bwana, the guy does not have even the slightest clue how to steer Gor to greater heights.there is a big confusion in the Gor family.

  • @Jakababa tell them. Who said that where we are we cannot win the league. The problem with us is that Gor wins one game and we are all over praising everybody and again when we lose a game we are all over the place criticizing the coach, players, Ec and everyone else. Thank God that they are not being affected by some negative comments. This is the time we miss @Kosero, @Mwakio and @Pareiyo with their wise counsell.

Dan no one is against the coach the problem we av with these man is that when pple r busy recruiting he is going on leave, then come back to start talking of our mid our defence oooooh mara our strikers and yet he has that tym now to do a better recruitment,y must he go on leave n yet he just came back in january from leave,if seing the family is the problem he could av arranged for the to come over not him keeping on going those sides if that is what is making him not to concentrate fully, just thinking aloud

  • How is the coach allowed to go on leave when we have not completed our first leg fixtures????That is highly irresponsible of first the executive community, then Logarusic.
Read Bwana’s comments and you will know that K’galo is on its death bed as soccer club. How can he claim that he now wants to unearth what is ailing the club.
The club will be in disarray and see such shenanigans between now and the elections. We will be lucky if we win anything thing this year or finish in the top three in the league.
Right now officials are concentrating on retaining their positions.
THE ONLY PROGRESS GOR MAHIA FRATERNITY CAN MAKE THIS CALAMITY YEAR OF 2013 IS TO REDUCE THE OFFICE TO 4 ELECTED OFFICIALS WHO THEN APPOINT A CEO.
To my fellow bloggers your ideas have be great but they remain just that idea. GMFC is just a front for certain stakeholders to enrich themselves very little and has very to do about soccer @ the moment.

  • Just wondering, but what has the coach’s going on leave have to do with recruitment of player(s)? What does the EC do? Can’t the bloated team (EC) handle recruitment in the absence of the coach? Maybe his salary is the problem here.

From which hole has our resident madman emerged with so much vigor? His Geography however, amazes me. Elsewhere in the social media, he is currntly intimidating Nigerians. Of all the places, he is claiming that Lodwar borders Republic of Somalia and that the Kenya Nigeria match will be played in Lodwar Stadium!

  • At the beginning of the season He was away, leaving the EC to sign some inept players and the team is limping, the star performers of last season don t have it in them to produce at the same level, we have a bunch of new players who are no good and what does the coach do, take another leave of absence, instead of correcting the January mistakes and putting together a formidable squad for the grueling second leg…last year at a time like this he was around, he made some clever signings and we saw what a magical 2nd half we had.

i think we have to face the reality n we should blame the prayers and not the coach, ve watched almost all the games of gor n ve noted that indiscipline is slowly creeping in the team n the prayers dont seem to take in instructions from the coach. also team work is missing due jealousy so ssere, rama, kiongera or mutiso cannot perform any wonder coz they dont get any assists balls, it is high time that the coach should mould gathu(gaucho) to play in midfield the boy is generous with the ball, tactical, disciplined n fast. otherwise if there is no team work whether gor hire a striker from heaven he cant perform. ve seen bwana is trying to hire prayers on media he should consult the coach first before his hirings, in gor we ve best talents lets tap them , hiring and firing isnt good.
