Logarusic Confident

Courtesy of Daily Nation

Gor Mahia coach Zdravko Logarusic believes the club still stands a good chance of winning the Kenyan Premier League title.

After seeing his side win seven of their last nine league matches, the Croat says the next 10 matches will be a defining moment for Gor Mahia’s 2012 season.

Gor dictated their match against Sofapaka on Monday night at Kasarani but were denied by brilliant goalkeeping by Duncan Ochieng who deservedly went home with the man-of-the-match award.

New-found confidence

“When I took over this team, the players were lacking confidence, they were physically and mentally not ready for any challenge. But I can only thank them for how they have improved so fast and we now believe we can win the title,” said Logarusic.

But he is alive to the fact that hauling eight points which is the difference between them and league leaders AFC Leopards will not be easy.

“Had we beaten Sofapaka on Monday, it (the gap) would have gone down to six points, but the draw now complicates matters but anything is possible,” said Logarusic.

Improvement

“Picture this, when we lost to Ulinzi Stars in April, Leopards were a massive 16 points ahead of us. Tusker were 12 points ahead and we were 12th in the league with 10 points from 11 games. That tells you how much these boys have improved,” he added.

Gor last lost on April 21 to Ulinzi Stars in Nakuru but have since won seven in nine to move to fifth and Logarusic, whose side plays Ulinzi on Sunday in the final of the FKL Top Eight tournament at Kasarani, says K’Ogalo can win a treble – the league, FKF President’s Cup and the Top Eight title.

AFC Leopards, meanwhile, are basking in their 5-0 bashing of Thika United on Sunday, a result that pushed them to 44 points.

“It was a great performance. We were a bit shaky but we managed the result. We just need to rectify a few areas,” said Leopards assistant coach Mickey Weche who urged Leopards’ fans to return to the stadium to support their team like before.

Ulinzi on the rise

Ulinzi Stars continued their rise in the league with a 2-1 win over City Stars at the Afraha Stadium. The win cemented their place in the fourth position with 36 points and coach Sammy Simiyu insists the next ten game will be a do-or-die affair for the soldiers.

“We need to win all the remaining games. If we get points from the top five teams, we will be home and dry with the title,” added Weche.

Push them my man push and push, Loga you are the man; we can see bright light at the end of the once very dark tunnel. We now know the difference that good coaching can make to a team.Go right on and you may even take the league, why not, at that rate?

The self belief and confidence that the t/bench has instilled in the team in such a short time is simply phenomenal. Kudos to loga and your team.Albert kosero of tickles aka ‘tok komwanda’in Kampala, has,(in the words of one Henry kosgey),trully been ‘findicated’.Karibu nyumbani ssebo!.

  • @1 : we are taking the league and the presidents cup. nothing less. i know gor bado haijafika climax but we are on the way. i put it we are doing 60%(according to sofapaka match) we are now fighting for position two. its good tusker decided to take a small rest(with mathare). afc pls watch out…you have a good bus lakini buses do not win the league, somewhere along the line afc will shake and tremble, when u realise that it’s actually k’ogalo chasing u, not ulinzi, sofapaka or tusker. pls note how sofapaka trembled, it’s funny when their coach ‘rued’ how ‘tume angusha point’… what a laugh. anyway, i thnk u r welcome to this site, in gor we are not mean…BUT LIE LOW LIKE A BAHASHA, hehehehe , critisizing gor is note a crime , we all do it but WE LOVE GOR, be warned that this is the condition to being a contributor to this site, otherwise welcome. and NO, afc does not have the prey in it’s mouth yet, but yes, it has sighted the prey, but it does not realise the great warrior moving with stealth, painted in sweet green is also stalking the prey.the warrior realises that there is a leopard around… but k’ogalo moves like a shadow, he is aware that the jackals and other wanabees also want the prey. it’s dark, chui has a great advantage, but k’ogalo has done this before he has hunted in the dark before in kenya, east n central and africa, he knows that the leopard is….

@Comrade Omusala I have taken notice of paragraph 6; although at the same time ; can you also digest paragraph 10. Yes EFUSI has the prey by it’s mouth but it’s yet to salivate and chew it. The question is why? And the answer is that there is some stalking the leopard around it’s shadow from unknown direction. This person is very confident, mysterious and unpredictable since with three games to the end of first leg AFC were 16 points clear only to bulged under pressure and are now 8 points clear with 9 games to go. ITS NOT YET OVER UNTIL IT IS OVER.

Omusala I am aware that EFUSI will be unavailing the new look and modernized ISUZU bus with state of the art technology that includes interior customized decoration. Congrats for the team and of cause the sponsorship of mumias sugar for realize your 2012 goal . That will motivate your players to perform well although I doubt if it will change the fortunes of 2012 KPL. Omusala you must beat GOR, TUSKER, ULINZI, CHEMO and MUHORONI.

You will draw with chemo,MUHORONI,TUSKER and ULINZI to enable us recover 8 points and then we will beat you to clinch the title on point difference. It is down to the wire!!!

Pole Pamzo. They are intoxicated with their own products hence the misjudgement.
Hands off our Log please!!! Don’t even think of it. Why not disband the team and sponsor the Mighty Gor?

@Barefoot Bandit that is all about the re-loaded K’Ogalo with the Logarithm grand march that has victimized PAMZO as the first casualty on our way to the KPL summit. As much as magelo saved the neck of KOOPS in the aborted super 8, he will not survive a double header against K’Ogalo in both FKF and KPL. We are breathing fire! AFC kichapo chaja!!!

  • What a thankless game coaching can be. You cannot tell me that all over a sudden Pamzo has become a bad coach. Tusker should know that money does not always but success. The best advice I can give KBL is to disband the team and sponsor a team like Gor, City stars or Rangers and they will get value for money. Good people don’t be surprised if Tusker Malt Logo will be on our jersey one of these days. After all institutional clubs have also contributed to our low football standards in Kenya. Meanwhile, if I could be allowed to digress just a bit to our old ‘bad’ habits, there are three players in Tusker we could target and who I’m sure would want to join us. That’s Atudo, Pinches and Alfie. Watched Pinches in their game with Mathare and like he was the only Tusker player in the field and like we were only 100 ans in the stadium. I know we have messed before by following my route but those are just suggestions but after all we didn’t go wrong as fans with Rama and Sserenkuma.

Simple Arithmetic. We beat AFC and the difference is 5. They draw against Tusker or Sofapaka and get beaten by any of the also runs. We get leveled and the real race begin. Maono against Ingwe! It goes without a say.

Omusala-Tafadhali attend our matches and you will note that we rotate Daktari and Dan”Flava” Sserenkuma with Love-A-Star and Itubu with deadly results

Now to the EC for the umpteenth time contract ‘Miguna’ Logarusic long time.

To the EC in particular George’Assad’ Bwana i.e GAB
I suggest the following 2 ways to cut costs:
1.Look for an office in the city centre which may be cheaper then the office block occupied at Nyayo with a lot of empty spaces. The entire block at Nyayo must be costly. Hope we don’t have rent arrears. The merchandise shop would also do better in the city centre.
2.Most importantly DO NOT ALLOW double headers for K’galo home games. Why share revenue when 99% of the fans will be K’galo, and then be unable to pay our players their allowances.

    To Fans:
Lets pass a resolution/ amend the constitutions that the following two events should necessitate the immediate resignation of the EC.
1.Default/Delay in the payment of any team/ technical bench allowances/salaries.I find it ludicrous that this happened yet EC could afford to pay CAF fines, pay non playing Selenges etc for months.
2.Inability of the team to win the league/ FKF cup in a season and/or the team finishing below position 4.
3.I will not repeat earlier suggestions.

Congrats team and tech bench. Now this is what a call gelling.Come Ulinzi Come

  • too pamzo; pole but pls understand that coaches who dance to the tune of the players will always get the same treatment. right from east and central, one kud see things were not ok. i have always said that tusker et ulinzi are well managed but i have one major problem with these ‘parastatal’ clubs, u cannot discipline a player. ur problem started with shikokoti at the e and central championship, obviously once the manager went it was clear that the players had managed to do a small mini-riot. the problem is that this players are left with their egos intact waiting for the nxt coach. the same will happen when he tries to assert himself. thats why clubs like tusker, sony, ulinzi will never go anywhere. this clubs are merely marketing tools to show that the mother institutions care about social events. mumias did a great service of pulling out and financing afc. i still buy mumias sugar but i support gor. tusker has been selfish in the notion that they only support there club instead of supporting self supporting clubs and in this way has held back the progress of soccer. reason: tusker players will always know they are safe so long as they play east and central, they know that they do not have to win it but just to be seen and that the regional beer is around. they end up being small minded and it’s hardly supprising that no player despite all the billions u make will end up anywhere worth mentioning. unfortunately many players see this when its too late. as much as arsenal or man u can loose games, one thing will never be tolerated, midiocrisy. the clubs may loose even 7 nil, but it will never be that it’s coz one or two players have grown horns. ask ronaldo, beckham, anelka .these guys were shown the door when at the peek of their popularity but the good thing is that they changed their ways where the settled and were a lesson to many greenhorns in europe. i thnk ppl like shikokoti et collins okoth will realise their bad habits are only poison to themselves.

@Dan I still believe that Pamzo is good coach and a good scout. I believe as well that Pamzo’s presence could have influenced some players to sign for Tusker…and now that he is gone watch this space for some exodus.

You have stated the obvious about Pinches…he has always been a K’Ogalo. Don’t you remember that it is his high profile performance in GM that led to his maiden call-up to the national team as well as the trials in South Africa?

@Oduor12 I tend to fear that some of your suggestions in the post above if implemented could create instability hence a recipe for underachievement and disaster.

OKOTH P OWUOR, to tell things arent Gor’s way,you have started those calculations.Anyway they are good but let me show you some calculus. We have finished both legs with Sofapaka.for tusker there strikers have become dull since they went Tanza they dont score so they are down and we will beat them 1 nill.for the derby with Gor we may take you to Mumias and beat you well .are you aware Gor play well on carpet than grass.watch it.know you havnt played karuturi which is always sturbon to you,so you will drop there.OKOTH JABILO ,We droped 16points and it was 1st leg and this is 2nd . Our problem was solved by healing of Masika and Wanga, plus inclusion of two midfilders Were,Ndayisaba and left back 3 Rashid, who there skills speaks by themselfs.so to drop wont be so easy.last year Tusker won 1 point over ulinzi.FOR THE REST OF YOU GOR FANS WHO HAVE WELCOMED ME THANKS ALOT………”””” (MAY GOD BLESS INGWE) “.””””

    Comrades,

I am always pleased to join as we try to shape the destiny of this great club, K’Ogalo.
I am equally impressed by the sudden change of attitude towards the club by bloggers.
We now understand our role as fans much better. And as bloggers, i am happy the officials are taking some of our suggestions very seriously.

Coach Logarusic deserve a pat on his shoulders by the kind of confidence he has managed to instil on the players during his short stint. Sometimes I can’t stop to laugh at his many pet names he has already earned; logarithm, log, Jo- ndhiwa among others. This clearly shows he has already earned admirers within the club. I urge everyone to continue to give the coach all the support he needs as he try to deliver this year’s KPL title to us.

To comrade A. Kosero of Sofaset branch ( Kampala), welcome home. We are extremely delighted to have you in our midst. Enjoy your stay and when you go back, convey our warm greetings to the great people of Uganda. As we ege towards intergration, we need to forge closer ties to all East Africans.
