Logarusic on contract negotiations

Courtesy of Nation

Gor Mahia coach Zdravko Logarusic says he is willing to return to the club if certain contractual conditions are met.

Logarusic said time was running out for the club ahead of their challenge for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup next season.

Speaking to the Nation, Logarusic said he had demanded a signing fee of Sh4 million and a monthly salary of Sh0.5 million.

“If they do that I will be on the plane tonight to sign a new deal and start planning for next season’s onslaught,” said the Croat national.

“Time is running out, we need to start recruiting players by December 29 and start preparations. But at the moment I cannot do anything because my situation is unclear. Something needs to be done, unfortunately where we are now is where we were three months ago.”

“My conditions are very clear, I am a professional and I want to professionalise this club. I love this club and this is where I want to be next season. But if I cannot get Sh 4 million sign on fee and a monthly Sh 500,000 salary, I am not coming back,” he said.

Talks ended in stalemate

“We need to move fast. Gor Mahia is a big club with massive following. I know if they want the best for the club they can raise this I a matter of days,” added Logarusic.

He said he sat down with club chairman Ambrose Rachier and the talks ended in a stalemate.

“They did not want to commit and I told them I am a professional, football is business and if we cannot do business, then call me if you are ready.”

“Gor Mahia should move away from surviving on handouts and engage in big business. Look for sponsors who mean business and are ready to grow with the club and make money of our own.”

The Croat who came to Gor Mahia in April when the club was rooted at the relegation zone with only one win from nine games says he has a bone to pick with sponsors Tuzo who had made promises which they failed to fulfil.

“I came to Gor Mahia not to push for money, but to bring results so that the club and its sponsors can appreciate and offer me a pay package that is acceptable. It defeats logic now that we are now haggling over increment. What I am asking for is what I believe is the lowest a professional coach can ask from a club.”

I think this professional coach is absolutely right. Gor Mahia is the only team in Kenya that find it hard to pay players and officials yet it is the team that realizes the highest amount every season from the gate collections. IO think we as fans should organize ourself and demand that the club be managed professionally. We are tired, If one was to compare the rate of allowance between GM and other smaller teams like Leopadia, Sofapaka and Tusker then he would easily lough. Shame on the management. This is why we have always missed and lost some very good players to our competitors.

Jakoyo just had to say this; where is Ogango Trailer to support him? What Loga is demanding is like the going market rate in the region, how else do you expect to keep a coach of this calibre? What he may have to reconsider is a reduction of the signing fees say to 2 million. I am extremely optimistic that coach will come back, office speak up please. Have you lost all ideas on how to raise funds? Cant we find 100000 members contributing just 100 each? Cant we, I ask? And ignore the sentiments of detractors like Jakoyo, these are fake bloggers out to destroy everything.

Loga has said it time and again that he love our club. With loga and 3 quality players in the team next season, we can make it to confedaration cup group stages which will mean good money and experience for the team.
Good coach and good players means good results, good results mean more fans implying good gate collection.
Let this guy come back and help revolutionize the club.

We subscribe to GM to be entertained, enjoy football and socialize with people from all walks of life. Stop reasoning like GOR MAHIA brand is a community commodity. For GOR to afford Logarusic and be professionalized to the level that we can lure good sponsors and turn it into thriving business then fans like yourself must change their mindset, be tolerant and be accommodative irrespective of opposing comments. That what will make debate proactively and reason together soberly without calling names.

I kindly request you to ask our village minded siblings to spare TJM national heritage monument from further destruction. Please respect other bloggers and stop limiting individuals freedom of expression. Why are you stalking @ Jakoyo due to his diverse comments. Thanks Logarusic. 500k monthly salary is very reasonable. The signing fee is a one off and can be negotiated, but certainly no reason to lose our coach.

REMEMBER GOR HAS A SURPLUS IN EXCESS OF KSHS.17.5m AMA IT HAS BEEN DIVIDED AMONG THE E.C approx kshs.1.5 per official

Gor Mahia can afford Logarusic’s salary, even double Sir.Bob’s, and improve player’s terms. What the club cannot cope with is sustaining a largely corrupt, inefficient and bloated executive committee. Here are the facts and figures.

    Income: Kshs.

    1.Gate Collections ( not complete) 25,063,448.00

2.Tuzo Sponsorship(Officials who jeopardized deal should take responsibility) 18,000,000.00

    3. TPL Sponsorship 2,500,000.00

    4. TOP 8 Winners cash prize 1,000,000.00

5.TPL runners up cash prize 1,500,000.00

    6. TPL participation award-all teams paid as per position approx 500,000.00

    7. Top 8 participation fee 3 matches @ kshs.100k/match.4 EC to this agree is a joke 300,000.00

    8. Branches fee (82 branches x 6,000/branch) Info from GMFC official website 492,000.00

    9.Known Donations-Raila-500K,Kisia-200K,Kidero-200K 900,000.00

    10. Harambee for coaches car 330,000.00

    *Total Income 50,585,448.00

*Not included due to lack of info-1) Supersport payments, Merchandize/Tshirt replica sales, Nation jacket sales,CAF harambees, airtickets from PM, Chairman’s contribution though with the above figure I am doubting the myth the he single handedly finances GMFC.

Expenses- Mainly taken from G.Bwana’s Financial Explanation on facebook/ to the media even though incomplete and seemingly exaggerated. Remember GMFC has 26 players.

    Gor’s Monthly Expenditure
    1. Sponsorship =Kshs 1,232,000(Player’s salaries only) x 12 months = 14,784,000.00

    2. Technical bench salaries = Ksh 235,000x 12 months = 2,820,000.00

    3. Office administrator =Kshs50,000x 12 months = 600,000.00

    4. NIC bus loan =Kshs 65,000 (Highly doubtful with all harambees by fans) x 12months = 780,000.00

    5. Head Coach $3,000 (Ksh.250,000)-came in March x10 months = 2,500,000.00

Weekly expenditure for match preparation. Let give EC benefit of doubt and use full 52weeks/365 days
    6.Transport allowance Ksh.8,300 perday x 365days = 3,029,500.00
    7. Medicine =Kshs15,000 x 52 weeks =780,000.00
    8. Water 3000 per day x 365days =1,095,000.00
    9. Hire of city stadium Kshs 5,000 per dayx 365 days =1,825,000.00
    10. Winning bonuses =Kshs 154,000 assume they won all their 30 league matches =4,620,000.00
    11. Coach’s taxi 800 per day-for 30days every month for 10months. =240,000.00

    Total Expenses = 33,073,500.00

Surplus-which is higher if omitted income e.g Supersport is taken in account =17,511,948.00

Are you convinced that the EC has used Kshs.17.5million to print tickets and hire GMFC security or is this amount mainly divided between the executive committee?

1.Remember our players don’t even have medical insurance.

2.By retaining Logarusic, motivating other members of the bench and players gate collections can easily hit 40m in 2013.

3.Remember the current bench wins trophies without the expensive residential training hence and with a lean squad hence saving the club these expenses.

4.Logarusic and co. will pay for their salaries through performance.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS AND MINE PAY LOGARUSIC, SIR BOB, BENCH AND PLAYERS WELL OR CONTINUE PAYING THE EC APPROX KSHS.1.5million per year each instead of each member of the EC contributing even kshs.20,000 per month towards the club.

LOGARUSIC you have made your bargain openly in the public domain so as to make ma-fans to pile pressure on GM executive. That is very smart and clever way of winning peoples mind.

But you have completely failed in ensuring confidentiality during the pending discussions when dealing with contractual agreements.

You need GOR MAHIA to upgrade your profile and value and not vice versa. Make realistic demands and join us.

If not then let the team with the highest bargaining power and deep pockets engage you, cause personally i do not think our EC will succumb to your demands.

Better start shopping else where instead of waiting for the impossible to happen. That is my honest opinion.

  • The reason why teams like Manchester city and Chelsea became forces to reckon with in Europe is because they went for the best and readily available(Mancini and Mourinho respectively) in the market. Who is the best coach in Kenya so far?? “We can as well go for another coach” like some of us are advocating for but rest assured a new coach will come with a new spice on the table(which means changing a winning team which Loga is part of).Next year GM will be representing Kenya in the continental arena and for us to become a force to reckon with,we have to maintain a winning team no matter the cost.Football is all but business and what Loga is demanding is still achievable in three ways.

    1. Give him all he is demanding for and put him on a PERFORMANCE contract.

    2. Reduce the sign on fee by say 50% and reward him that half a million a month, after all he deserves it.

    3. Retain the sign on fee but and reduce the monthly income.

Am so confident Loga will be back.

  • @Ben Disi I think even Mourinho or Fergie will have problems lifting Ingwe. I still believe that Gor will beat Ingwe even if they have Loga. Matano succeeded at Tusker but failed at Ingwe, so are Imonje and the coach of Chemelil. Ingwe also has problems using young talent something which gor is good at irrespective of the coach.
But on Gor issues though 4m is alot of money it’s a one off that we can definitely afford as Gor, and the 0.5m is something we can also afford. But the coach has to have stringent performance targets to meet. We will no longer be talking about winning locally but targeting the CAF crown. I know some teams will be salivating about Loga but what they don’t know is that the Gor 12th man is also responsible for ‘pushing’ the coach and the players. This is lacking in all the other teams, including Ingwe.

Surely sure, loga has made tremendous contribution at GM that doesn’t change. Its also good that we maintain consistency in the team. I believe it serves all parties well that interpersonal relations between loga and the Ec be maintained at the most cordial level as possible, mark the word ‘cordial'(not obedient). Remember loga acknowledges that his pay comes from the chair’s pocket hence the decision of loga in or out may heavily depend on the chair. We have all contributed to the situation by the way. Yes, K’ogalo needs a coach who will keep funny ec members from dictating the squad and wanton recruitments. Yet loga should bargain for his personal terms decently and professionally since the fans can only contribute to a ltd extent towards his money demands. Guys lets relax and let nature take its course, GM is a big brand in following but the people at the top have ensured it remains at their mercy thence in saying its big yet substancially it has remained hot air!

  • In this case I’m inclined to agree with the Log on the salary, if only the EC can negotiate with him on the signing fee. He is tested and proven, thats a fact. Only he has to perform, not only on the local stage but also on the continental stage.

For the Log to ask (or is it demand?) for a one-off signing fee of 4m, he must have assessed GM financial might and known what is possible and what is not possible. I cannot call the demand unrealistic because it is achievable if the concerned get serious and plug all those loopholes; if GM funds can be allowed to carter for ligible expenditures only.

I make this direct appeal to the Log: as you ‘demand’ for 4m please do remember that it is us GM fans who you profess to value so much that will carry that burden. Kindly remember that as we speak now we are choking under the burden of having to pay 4m for the salary of another tournament-choosy coach whom we in all honesty, have little to write home about. If I may ask: what informed your choice of that figure? Is it a coincidence that it is the same figure that this other gentleman is being paid?

In a nutshell the Log this is what I am asking for: please revise your demand downwards if you are truly concerned about GM and the common GM fan. Many a times you have declared in print or otherwise that you are Luo inside and for that I leave you with this: the Log ondiegi ma thuru chami to weyi (zimwi likujualo halikuli likakumaliza) so please don’t drain us dry to death. Eat reasonably and it shall be sustained as Gor Mahia helps you raise your profile.

The way I see Gor Mahia struggling with salaries I doubt if they will afford 500,000 for the coach. Again the signing fee of 4m is a new thing in TPL.

Let the EC weigh the benefits of signing him with that kind of money and sources of funds then make a decision. Generally, in terms of performance, the coach is exceptionally good but he’s not the only one. After next year he’ll demand 7m signing fee and 1m monthly salary then I will hear what bloggers are suggesting…

Which sponsors are coming on board? Gate collections will not be available between this Dec 2012 to Feb 2013 when the league resumes, so where do we get salaries for three months minus gate collections and the sponsors?

If we truly want to professionalize this club then we need to start thinking of how we can get a net income (after expenses and taxes if any) of about 2m per month (floating in the account) but with the current status, financially the club is too far below the expectation and nobody seems to be giving a clear direction.

Loga loves this club and that’s why he has come out in the open. He doesn’t want to hide anything. I believe we can afford him. With this guy at the club we’ll most of our matches and the fans will be back in droves. Even without sponsors, 5million every match at City will be more than enough for 2 home games a month. Plus his presence will def attract more professionalism. Lets keep Loga at all costs!!

Loga must be mistaken Gor is not Man city or Real, this is a community club and we have succeeded without him before I would suggest we hire Bobby Ogolla as our coach. Ati 4 million signing fee, no one is going to give him that maybe EFFUSI.

    Reply
  • We should give Logarusic what he is asking for. We must change how we do things starting now!

It is not too much to ask if the EC can get a committed and proactive sponsor. If say the sponsor gives 30 million, they can first sign the coach and work on improving gate collections in all home matches. The office can streamline jersey sales and deal with vendors of fakes. We can sell some star players at a good price and recruit some new ones cheaply. The office should pursue the idea of a monthly magazine to generate cash (what happened to the one we had?).

I still believe that Logarusic can help us get out of this financial mess and professionalize our club. It is our management that has continuously made a club founded in 1968 to be begging every other season. We need him here for another season then we can sell him to Harambee Stars at a good price.

  • We risk losing some good players like Kasaya, Jerim amongst others. AFC has approached these two. We need to either secure them early enough or go to the market before buyers choose the juicest fruits or we risk even missing out on Loga. Ingwe wants to buy anything Gor, except the bus but like this year we know that setting the pace and hitting the finish line are two different things

News from tusker have it that Crispin Olando has been droped. Why don’t we take the risk and bring him to Gor. He was only unlucky with injuries last season but anyone who has followed the guy since his days at Thika utd knows what he can do when fit.

I think its good for Jerry to shift ships, he has made a name for himself and can walk on his own, especially now that teams are lining up with better payroll figures and of course coupled with a place in the national team, he is going places.

Kasaya should stay longer to make a name for himself as its obvious at GM is where names are made and reputation nurtured.Ingwe is known to destroy careers, they are perennial dreamers who never keep players for development. They will drop Kasaya for the next wannabe hopper from Western province.

Having spoken @17. I take this opportunity to remind bloggers that once upon a time log told the whole world of an offer he had of Kshs.1.25m. I do believe thats far much more than the 0.5m he’s trying to fish from dryland. My question: Is it his love for GM that makes him forego the 1.25m or was that just hot air to hoodwink the GM fraternity of a castle built on the skies? So we could come with sacks of offerings crawling on our knees for a come down angel coach?

Ato who’s the best coach around? The leadership at GM have their regrettable flaws and as they endeavour to improve they must do things with vision and sense.

Gor need to graduate from community club mentality. With the amount of money generated the club can foot these expences. The EC ought to get serious with other sources of money generation. We urgently need to run away from this community club mentality. We can register the club as Ltd. and the whole community can still own it through shares valued at say Kes200 per share or less. Whatever is affordable. Whatever the community wants. This will not only afford us huge capital in the IPO but will most importantly ensure Gor will forever be run as a body corporate, with a listing at the NSE. You’ll be shocked at the number of sponsors queuing for us. This is the way to go. We can be the most successful club in Africa. Can u imagine winning the African Champions League and representing Africa at the World Club championships against Barcelona and the rest? We can do it fox. Let’s be open with our thinking and let’s embrace change. Change we can believe in. And it starts with tying Loga to a longer contract. Bloated EC =12 officials x kshs.50,000/official=600,000
    Logarusic signing fee =4,000,000

Balance to be raised by fans/members =3,400,000
As per official website 82 branches
Minimum no. per branch =30 members
Total membership as per official website =2,460 fans

Expected contribution per member (if the club is flat broke, in which case the EC should go home)=3,400,000/2,460= kshs.1,382.11
Don’t 4get same EC wanted to buy Mr.Log a car through an harambee instead of focusing on his contract.

1.Its not Logarusic whose the villian here rather the crooks are within our EC
    2. Hiyo list ya 82 branches may fake fake / ghost members.
    3. All EC MUST contribute monthly towards running the club. I suggest 20k but they can start with 50k towards the signing fee.
4.Organize an harambee, just this once at City. Whatever we collect plus the EC’s 600,000 is offerred to Logarusic to decide whether to ACCEPT IT OR NOT

  • I agree with most of the bloggers on this site that Gor Mahia should strive to move away from a “Community Club” mentatlity to a more professional outfit …. but unfortunately there are some very powerful regressive forces within the club that would like to maintain the status quo, and will fight you tooth-and-nail to not change – because they are benefiting from the current arrangement. These are the same forces fighting Loga whenever he trys to do things professionally.
Gor should be a powehouse in African football by now, especially after wining the Mandela Cup ….look at it’s former compatriots in North, West and Central Africa, they feature in continental football every year – why noy Gor?
Loga means well, but it remains to be seen if the leadership is more interested in self promotion and settle for “satisfadizers”, or are they going to go for the promotion of the greater good of the club and professionalize its operations?

Mboya maxwell doesn’t know what he is taking about. He should find out how much Santos of SA paid as a sign up fee for Tusker’s Mandela.Secondly there is nothing like Loga growing with the club. The club has no development agenda and with the current office they can only achieve a negative growth. Benson DC thinks its only AFC that can afford Loga. Sad to say but AFC has no money of its own. The Mumias money he is boasting of came because of Kidero’s political ambition and will have an end. Sam Nyamweya thinks he has done a lot and fans have come back to the stadium yet it is Gor Mahia’s fans who have come back because of the good work Loga has done. You can take this to the bank, if Loga is not contracted, and his replacement doesn’t maintain Gor’s winning formula then the office can as well forget about the millions they are enjoying from the gate collection. But do they care?
