Logarusic rues poor officiating

Gor Mahia coach Zdravko Logarusic is unhappy with the match officials following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with SoNy Sugar at City stadium.

At issue is the fact that centre referee Amos Ichingwa added only four minutes of injury time.

“This game had very many breaks and I am really disappointed that the referee only awarded four minutes as extra time while in my opinion he should have added a minimum of ten,” Logarusic told supersport.

The coach was, however, content with the result saying it was hard game and therefore they earned a point rather than lost two.

“The game was a hard one and I cannot complain; I’m happy that we at least managed to get a point from it,” he said.

Logarusic says they will approach the match just like they do with every game they play; with a winning mentality.

Injuries

As they approach their next game, Kogalo will however have to deal with the fact that they have lost several players to injury.  Innocent Mutiso hurt his knee during the club’s training session on Saturday. Mutiso spent much of 2012 on the sidelines due to a knee injury and this may be a recurrence.

Raphael Kiongera who had a storming first few games for the club re-injured his thigh. He will rehab the injury for 2 months. If the injury does not heal, he will undergo surgery which will put him on the sidelines for at least 6 months.

Next Match

Gor Mahia next face newly promoted Kakamega Homeboyz in Mumias next weekend.

Four things only I want to say:
    1. The coach doesn’t seem to know his players well, thats why he likes “playing safe” with a certain starting 11 even if they are half fit. Look at Rama for instance, the guy surely needs some rest and why not, he is been playing almost 3 seasons continuous, he is fatigued and disappointingly ineffective. He needs like upto six games rest.I believe every player on the team roll deserves to play a role.
    2. At the start of the season the coach tended to rely on Kiongera so much and even toyed with the idea of sidelining Sserunkuma, that may have had a disorienting effect on the Ugandan such that now that he appears only as a fall back choice striker, he cannot easily find his footing; the loss of Kiongera has also disoriented the coach so much, he seems not to know what to do.
    3. The more games they play without scoring leads to rising anxiety in the team and may then lead to further failure in front of goal as everybody start fearing to be blamed, you need a motivational expert
    4. The goal drought is going to continue for some time, that everybody can see.June transfer window is around the corner; this is the time to identify just one lethal striker to assist Sserunkuma(not to replace), and negotiate early. And why, we have that Natty guy

Luogarasic is the problem, his tactics have become very predictable, and besides the system is using does not allow serious penetration in our opponents goal mouth, the team appears to lack ideas when it reaches the final quarter of the pitch, this have seriously frustrated the players especially the midfielders and strikers.I hope for a change in the next match.

Good write up #1 JTGJ. However I do not think Loga will have the luxury of resting Rama now that Lavatsa and Kiongera are injured. Loga needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with a plan that matches his salary.

Joe R,JTGJ and Ando, all of you combined translates to the truth with an exception of Ando’s ‘Loga is the problem’ bit.

I do not think we lack the quality of players we need going by the kind of players plying their trade in the KPL, NEVER! Truly speaking our players of late appear fearful on the ball and you notice we have too many back passes, none of them try penetrating through the midfield for fear of i what i do not understand and our passes are very obvious.

To add to this, the tech bench seems to have abandoned flexible approaches to matches or change of game approach and its like we only change players..we hardly use wings. I’ve also been quietly questioning myself if its only Kiongera we have as a striker.

Otherwise, the tech bench must take courage to do anything possible to build the team and keep them self confident, if anything there’s no perfection in this world.I applaud the recent unveiling of other players a step that have spiced our game and led to a discovery that really we have a strong team..my take is they’re suffering from self confidence crisis and could be they feel pressurized.

  • Though we are fully behind Loga I don’t agree with his comments on the officiating. The truth is that had Natty scored the goal that was disallowed he would have still complained if the 10 munites were added as injury time. What we need to do is to score early goals and remove the pressure from us. What happened to the confidence of Makori/BBerry/Macheda of taking on the defenders. Apart from Danny and now Natty and Mutiso the rest of our midfielders/strikers are comfortable playing the ball back to defence even on one-on-one situations.
All the same I believe that with Gaucho/Natty/Wiper we still have a team to win us the title.

  • POOR OFFICIATING MAIN CAUSE OF VIOLENCE

Poor officiating is hurting our league and indeed the main cause of fans violence. While i laud some Kenyan referees for their exemplary work, some has chosen to compromise their
Professional conduct partly because of corruption and incompetence.

I wish to salute referees Marwa and Lady Kimani for rising through the ranks to where they are now.

Kenyan referees have been accused for all manner of things including and many has paid dearly for their misgivings. A case in point is such as the one in Mombasa where a referee is suing FKF for the bodily he suffered in one chaotic match he was in charge.

As the league becomes competitive and lucrative from the kind of sponsors it’s attracting, our refs also need to up their game. It is so shameful
to watch refs scampering for safety after along very silly mistakes.

Allow me not to add anything to the comments already posted. JTGJ you are absolutely right. Let me instead address the issue of double headers.

Our EC is raising concern about double headers, a couple of which have come our way in quick succession in the recent past. The community (EC) is justified to raise such concern moreso if it considered that we are a self-supporting community club that relies on gate revenue to pay players’ bonuses and allowances. What I am not sure of is whether anyone in TPL organizing committee will listen.

May I suggest that the only fair and just solution to double headers is to share the collections proportionately based on what each home team collects on any day that there is no double header. If Sofapaka raises an average of 15,000/- in their home matches it is inconceivable how and why they should divide the funds evenly with Gor Mahia on a day when both teams are the home teams and 3,000,000/- is collected. I believe that a team’s gate collections is directly proportional to its fan base and there is no way fans can suddenly appear from nowhere to support a team that has always attracted lean following.

So many teams have taken piggy rides on our back for long. If this system is adapted then teams like the slum boys will start earning what is rightfully theirs on any day that they share double headers with us. It is about time that teams stopped reaping where they did not sow. EC please deliberate on this and sensitize TPL organizers and FKF.

The problem is the mid-field and nothing else.

Again you can’t blame the coach because you have clearly seen strikers missing very clear chances. What can the coach do in such scenarios even if he was ‘Jose Morinho, the special’ one?
