Logarusic to arrive Friday

Gor Mahia are perhaps preparing for their most important Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match of the season against arch-rivals AFC Leopards on Saturday, without head coach Zradvko Logarusic.

Logarusic is yet to return home after he flew out a week ago for a well-deserved holiday coming on the heels of an impressive performance in the league.

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier on Wednesday sought to assure fans the coach will arrive on Friday morning – a day before the match and allayed fears his absence may affect the team’s preparation.

“Initially the game was supposed to be played on Sunday and the coach had timed his arrival to coincide with the original date. Now it has to be brought forward and we were working hard to ensure he is here by Friday,” he said.

He added: “Logarusic is a professional and so he must have put in place an appropriate training regime to fit with the match, which is being executed by his assistants. His absence is not a concern because the assistants are equal to the task, but we are sure he will be here for the match.”

Rachier also said they need all three points against Leopards and are determined to succeed come Saturday.

“We wish Leopards all the best but we need this win after coming from a low moment to be where we are now,” said Rachier.

Elsewhere, Gor Mahia assistant coach John Bobby Ogolla says they are not under pressure to win Saturday derby.

Ogolla, who has featured in many such derbies during his playing days, said they are taking it just like any other league match.

“A win will certainly increase our chances of taking the league, but this does not mean that we are treating it any special. For us it is just like any other match despite the excitement surrounding it,” he said.

He added: “Our players know what is expected of them and they are ready to do it just like they have done it in the past.”

He reiterated his boss (Logarusic) statement that Gor are not necessarily focused on winning the title but are looking to win every game that comes their way.

From the beginning our policy has been to take one game at a time and this has not changed.

“We do not want to set our eyes elsewhere, that way we may lose the plot. Our focus now is on the weekend gameFrom then we will shift focus to the next game.”

Gor Mahia returned to training on Monday after a week break. Gor have 42 points, three behind AFC Leopards after 24 rounds of league action.

  • Arriving just in time. The boys now know what is required of them. All they need is the psyche for this particular game

I have full trust in Boby. He has all the potentials to prepare the team in the absense of Logar. We should not be worried of his absense. Am only worried of security on the big day. I wish Logar a safe journey.

He is around hibernating and causing confusion to ignite the derby. The guy is smart he wants to make headline before thumping this guys. I am longing to see them cry.

Loga this is your first derby. Please note that this is an emotionally , highly charged match therefore handle yourself on and off the pitch with caution! furthermore your words should preach peace and not breed hatred. Good luck on your return

    All the best team K’galo.

“”Yawa, yawa EC I really hope wonder coach Logarusic has a long term contract.””

It was a bit curious allowing the head coach to travel abroad when we are approaching a match against our arch-rivals. We’ve also reached a crucial time in the league. It would have been better to fly his family in for a weekend at the coast. However all this cost money hence I plea with the EC & fans to improve to the membership criteria and contribution.

@no. 6 OpuK don’t bring confusion here. Loga’s trip had been well planed and organised. Please relax and be patient.

Peace to prevail before, during and after the match. Hooligans who caused violence in Nakuru last week must know the importance of keeping peace moreover Afc is playing Sirkal. Exitement by either side should be controlled. Tollerance be observed but the refs must not make deliberate provocative decisions. Kogalo please elevate me above them. Loga fly safely and may God stand by Gormahia in this game which is our next game.
