Marcelo nominated for KPL player of the year

Gor Mahia defensive ace Eric Ouma “Marcelo” has been nominated for Kenya Premier League Player of the year.

The 20 year old Ouma who joined Kogalo in January has had a superb season and is definitely the newcomer of the year. He has shown the maturity of a player who has been in the league for several years. He is confident going forward, coordinates well with team-mates and is among the e best crossers in the league.

He is part of a for  five-man list that includes the Tusker duo of Humphrey Mieno and goalkeeper David Okello, while Ulinzi Stars marksman, John Mark Makwatta, who won the 2016 Golden Boot after scoring 15 goals. Also in the list is Kenneth Muguna, the tireless Western Stima midfielder.

Michael Olunga scooped the MVP award last year after an incredible campaign with Gor Mahia as the club marched to an unprecedented 15th league title without tasting defeat.

The awards gala will be held on December 14 at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.

Western Stima warns Gor Mahia off Muguna

Gor Mahia coach Ze Maria has expressed an interest in signing youthful Western Stima midfielder Kenneth Muguna.

“Yes, we are looking forward to having Muguna in our team for next season. He is a quality player, who knows what to do on the pitch and one amazing thing is his work rate. He is one of the players we are targeting and hopefully he will be with us,” revealed a source within the team,” the source told Goal.
“He (Muguna) is one of our targets for next year because we definitely do not want to go home empty handed again like it was the case in 2016.” said Ze Maria

However Western Stima have indicated that they are not keen to offload Muguna

It’s good that Gor players have been nominated for all categories. Wish them all the best. MVP, New Player and Defender of the year will prove a challenge with Marcelo a top contender

I think and it is my personal opinion that Ambrose Rachier should be retained for the chairmanship of the club. The names I am hearing, cannot bring any desirable change in the club. Let us not pretend that Okech and Hooligan can bring any change. Hooligan was there but resigned and ran away. He was like the CEO of the club but resigned.

Strengthening the midfield, central defence ? Not sure ze maria is going to get any players this transfer period.

We have too many ‘passengers ‘ at the club including the ones ze maria approved in June transfer period – odula, mbugua e.t.c . When i said odula just like jerry santos is a 35 + years old midfielder who is way past his football prime i was almost lynched on this site.

But as usual me think Kogallo just need 3 players – salim abdalla posta rangers, baba kizito and david kingatua and we are ready to go!

Please re-elect AR so that likes of Marcelo, WHO PLAY,can be paid $3k per month & have a plane ticket to dala. Was the beef between EC & FN(who together with Loga were our Matiangis) coz of refusing give out a cut. Just think EC can afford to pay a player $3k/month to get fit!…..#ElectAR+Co.&NextAGMwillBeIn2020…. food for thought to those who have been bought unless you are part of the cartels who will run the gates & fake merchandize until 2020…#WantedNamesOfGorMahia’s”HugeDebt”List…. Remember the KRA debt can be independently verified. Am not seeing GMFC,under AR+CO,taking part in any CAF tournament until we clear that debt WHETHER OR NOT WE WIN THE LEAGUE/GOTV.

Having debts is not a blocker to do business or take part in competitions. FKF has yet to pay Bobby Wiliamson and Amrouch but still workwith CAF and FIFA. All Gor haveto do is to have a payment plan for it.
On elections , the latest is that the Board has gone AWOL citing threats from candidates. Hope it’s just a rumour otherwise we need elections like yesterday and faiure to organise credible elections will notaugur wel for AR and co. It will mean them losing the little faith that we still have in him

To vote 4 AR,note that we are telling future chairs that as long as u win 1 or 2 title u dnt care abt millions gotten frm gate collections, its ok to lie to fans abt the contract of a coach,u can sign anybody pay him without playing,u can sabbotage a coach if he doesn’t agree with u.what morale authority will this guys have to question any other chair who will not be AR.Strange that guys are not bothered by lack of accountability in GM.At one tym everybody was a nouvice ,& they were given a chance

AR+Co.should present the TAX COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATE (KRA clearance/status) FOR GOR MAHIA.After the last fiasco EC must demonstrate that the clubs tax affairs are under control especially since it’s apparent that producing proper financial statements is a challenge (process as per Ngala) despite knowing about the CAF licensing requirements for years. The big difference between FKF & GMFC is TRANSPARENCY.NW,A NOVICE,will say OPENLY FKF owes Williamson this much,Amoroche that much and Nyamweya is claiming 30M.All this in his first year in office.NW put in structures and allowed audits making FIFA resume funding BUT the +8 years experience AR,like Nyamweya was fond of,will say the club has “huge debts” but avoids holding the annual AGM and presenting yearly accounts as stipulated by GM’s constitution. WHAT ARE AR+Co. HIDING? WHAT SKELETON(S) MAY BE FOUND IN GM’S CUPBOARD SHOULD AR+Co.LOSE?

Wololo Judge+2 members quit GMFC electrol board. Top Cop is appointed as a replacement.Top Cop Lumumba is an experienced CID and security officer. Why was’nt he engaged to tackle hooliganism? Never heard of a cop heading an electoral board? The stakes are high, the message is clear.IS HE AN EX-COP OR A CURRENT COP OFFERING CONSULTANCY SERVICES? SOMEONE IS DETERMINED TO RETAIN HIS SEAT AT ALL COSTS SOME OF US BETTER WATCH OUR TONGUES!

When 3 out of 5 members of an electoral committee resign the whole process becomes IRREDEEMABLY flawed. Judges face so many and greater challenges throughout their careers compared to overseeing the elections of a club. WHAT WERE THE REAL REASONS FOR THE GOOD JUDGE’S RESIGNATION AND HIS REPLACEMENT BY A COP.

@Oduor12, Stop being too petty in your critisms. Let us support the electoral process that will lead to credible election. Pettiness will never take this great club anywhere where people are elected on stomach business with nothing to show and offer after expiry of their tenure. It is not about eating but building a big cake where all stakeholders can benefit.

There are lots of recycled people also competing to go and perfect the eating business. This must be stopped. Former officials such as Faiz, Nyandega, Hooligans and outgoing officials like Kilo, Ngala, Orowe, Ferrari plus husband Okech do not mean well for the club and should have never vied or defended their positions.

What change will these mentioned aspirants bring to the club apart from perfecting the eating habit. Let us not go the AFC Leopard way that voted in novices that do not understand the club. Just look at what is happening in Leopard. Surely fans and members should know that dynamics of football change very fast and it is no longer an easy way of running the football clubs and any sports team with allowances. There are contracts to be honored, there are salaries to be paid on timely basis, there are allowances, there are bonuses etc. it is not easy and let us not pretend.

I would rather vote for Ambrose Rachier and give him a new mandate with watertight clearly defined deliverables objectives that must be achieved within his tenure in office.

@Jamigori, please be rationale! How can almost 99% of the people you’ve mentioned be unfit yet their leader at different times be ok. The only constant factor about these people who have perfected the eating habit is that their leader has always been AR.Our beloved GMFC is an organization that at maximum has 40 geniune employees, compare that with safaricom, kenya power, tusky’s supermarket and many other public, private( even family companies). These HOLD AGMs, publish audited accounts yearly and don’t get fined 118M coz of incompetence.Major failings at KQ led to the board chair resigning with the CEO to follow suit. ONCE APPOINTED YOU WOULD EXPECT THE CHAIR OF ANY INDEPENDENT ELECTORAL BOARD TO ANNOUNCE THEIR RESIGNATION BY THEMSELVES NOT AGAIN BY THE APPOINTING ENTITY WHICH GIVES THE IMPRESSION THEY WERE FORCED OUT! QUESTION IS WHY?

Again apart from Faiz, the rest were mostly, junior officials, “assistant something” and apart from 3 the rest have served for only one term.At helm CONSISTENTLY AND CONSTANTLY as CHAIRMAN,THE HIGHEST,TOPMOST & FINAL AUTHORITY IN GMFC MATTERS HAS BEEN ONE AMBROSE RACHIER SO THE BUCK STOPS WITH HIM.BTW by employees of GMFC is included players and TB. Jamigori try to be objective!By replacing a JUDGE with a COP in an electoral process, there is a subtle message being sent out and it does not enhance the credibility of these elections one bit.WHY DID THE GOOD JUDGE & OTHER MEMBERS NOT FINISH THE JOB?

@Oduor12, we all love Gor Mahia and we want the team to succeed. Please be objective in your critisms as Gor Mahia is loved by many fans across the divide. You are asking for compliance certitificate, this is an administrative matter but not an election agenda.

By the way from the list of contestants, Gor Mahia is not a walk in the park where every Dick and Harry can become the chairman. I do not see any these guys vying for the position of chairman giving Ambrose Rachier any serious challenge. Let us be honest to ourselves, from this list I can see current chairman retaining the chairmanship position and let people like Okech and Hooligan as his name depict compete for other positions.

Gor Mahia cannot be run with people on payrolls and people that will have no time to be there for the club when critical issues are to be sorted out. Let us not pretend that salaried people can take Gor Mahia anywhere.

Ambrose Rachier just need able and dedicated office bearers that will help him in implementing some of the desired structures and governance level that will make Gor Mahia to be a great team in the continent.

What we need in the near future are:-
    1. Transparent governance structures with credible leaders who are not all about looting of the meager resources of the club.
    2. Professionalise the club at all levels from mean team to the feeder club.
    3. Explore and safeguard the revenue sources such as sale of merchadises through a structured distribution channels.
    4. Create an innovative way of revenue collections through secured and credible technology platforms.
    5. Integration of branches and members to own the club.
    6. Turn Gor Mahia into a public listed company at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) with transparent and better disclosures as this is critical requirement for any publicly listed companies.
    7. Come up with fortified measures to curb hooliganisms and bring discipline to all key stakeholders.
    8. Create a well function head office that should be headed by competitively appointed Chief Executive Officer and other functions as finance director, commercial and merchandising director, marketing and membership director, corporate and public communication, procurement and distribution staffs, internal audit function etc. All these executive directors must be compensated on performance targets and anyone who does not perform to be fired by failure to achieve the targets.
    9. The club must develop a 5 year strategic plan with clear mission and vision of the club in the next five years. The strategic plan must have short term, medium term and long term objectives and must be reviewed every year in line with the dynamics in the market.
    10. Depolitize the club from any political undertones and let Gor Mahia football club create business persons and millionaires that will be involved in doing business with the club at arms length.
    11. Let the club executive come up with members open days calendar to help in bonding and educating members on core values of the club.

Finally let us all be objective in our criticisms as the club belongs to all of us both registered members, fans, supporters etc. we need to win trophies and become a role model for case studies but not retrogressive in sharpening our youths and other members of the society. We should encourage all people from other communities to vie for these positions in the club as well as making the club a Kenyan football team with good ethos.
