Moses Odhiambo praises Williamson

courtesy of supersport.com

Gor Mahia midfielder Moses Odhiambo has lauded the impact coach Bobby Williamson has had on the side since his arrival at the club.

Williamson took over from Zdravko Logarusic last month and has seen Gor maintain their lead atop the Kenyan Premier League.

Odhiambo admits that it was tough to lose Logarusic, whom the side had formed a strong bond with. Williamson, though, arrives at the club with a pedigree that is undeniable and Odhiambo says that they have already warmed up to the coach.

“He has done a very good job since he arrived at the club and so must be congratulated for that,” he said.

“It is not easy taking over at Gor Mahia and especially after the departure of a coach like Logarusic. Since he arrived he has made life easy for us and given us the freedom to express ourselves and that is why we are doing well, he said.

As for whether the title has already been won, Odhiambo, who was Man of the Match in the 3-0 win over Muhoroni Youth on Saturday, is confident but cautious.

“It is not over yet and we have to work hard, but we have a good lead and intend to keep it. “There are some very tough games to come, so we have to keep our focus and work hard, but we have a good cushion.”

Ooh Laa La ..” STOP CHEST THUMPING & RELAX “JAKOYO”.

@ # 2; With all due respect my comrade Jakoyo that POST ABOVE is for your ego-centric attitude cum wishful thinking and please desist from CHEST THUMPING. We have 10 matches to go and all of them are as important as the DERBY. WACHA KICHAA BWANA.

Last time we played CITY STARS you are the same clique that had their FOUL MOUTH pointing at players and TB as ineptitude; today after the turns and twist of the weekend results your shallow myopic vision is back again to misguide us. STYLE UP..!!

  • I may be naive on this but I stand to be corrected. The fact that AFC drew against City Stars, shows that Gor’s draw against them was not a fluke. They are an improved side and therefore should not be under-rated.

@ Jaupanda it is true City Stars is an improved side and a hard nut to crack at this moment in the premier league. But all the same I think for GM case it was just one those days the FAT LADy’S luck to put the ball behind the net eluded us completely. For sure we outplayed, out-smarted them throughout the entire 90minutes.

But for AFC, apart from appealing for the bogus penalty that never was CITY STARS is their BOGEY TEAM, the same case will apply when we play the likes of Mathare united, Sony Sugar and not to be forget THIKA UNITED.

So I support OGANGO TRAILER that we need to hold our horses as we approach the home stretch; Very soon ULINZI will be breathing fire behind K’Ogalo and we should not
write off TUSKER and AFC their chances are wide open and of cause for all the top eight teams in the log.

Get the 20 points from all the remaining 10games irrespective of who is who in the log. That should be the best mentality to reclaim our past glory. All the best.

All i can say (yet again) is that Dube & particularly the younger Love-A-Star must start scoring those chances they regularly miss when scoring seems easier. Addressing this area/weakness, which has plagued them 4 almost 2 seasons, will not only make them more accomplished as players but greatly boost chances of GM clinching the league earlier.

Question to FKF why make Gor lag behind in GoTv Cup bcoz Nyamweya’s Shabana is not prepared only to later force us to play catch up at crucial stages.

Let us give Bobby williamson time to organise the team as per his tactics. I wish our strikers all the best as they work to get their scoring boots. Let us encourage and support them all the time. They are the only players we have at the moment and we have to be with them no matter the situation.

Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with some of us.If gor scored 3 goals against stubbon muhoroni youth & we still complain, how many goals do we need to score so that we can congratulate our players without complaining about missed chances. We should encourage these players to continue scoring goals so that we meet our target.Scoring is not easy & many professional also do miss clear chances even in the best leagues in the world.so missing an open chance is not only synonimous with our strikers.

That was an excellent performance and especially Dube who played very very well. It’s long since we saw GM paly themseves out that way. Keep up but understand that we are still far. Remember Ulinzi and ‘others’ are on a very dangerous chase and only a fool can underate Ulinzi.

  • I took some time off to peruse thru the remaining fixtures for Gor Mahia, Ulinzi nd Efusi:
    FINDINGS.

    1. GOR’s fixtures- EFUSI (H) SONY (A) TUSKER (H) CHEMELIL (H) MATHARE (A) THIKA (A) SOFAPAKA (H) KKHB (H) KCB (A) ULINZI (A)

We can win 7 of these 10 remaining matches. As long as we do not lose to Ulinzi, the trophy will be ours. You can do it boys. Begin by Thrashing Efusi on Sunday to draw a marker and send a warning to the would be pretenders to the crown. VERDICT: CHAMPIONS.

    ULINZI fixtures – MATHARE- (H) SONY- (A) BANDARI-(A) KKHB (A) KCB (H) MUHORONI (A) WSTIMA (H) SOFPKA (A) THIKA (H) GOR M (H)

Ulinzi will probably struggle to beat SONY, KKHB, BANDARI and MUHORONI, all away. Three of these teams will be playing for their lives to remain in the KPL. Bandari will be fighting for a TOP 8 finish. The onus is on them not to drop even a point. I see them losing 3 of the 10 matches. VERDICT- 2nd.

    EFUSI fixtures – GOR M (A) TUSKER (A) CHEMELIL (H) KCB (A) MUHORONI (H) WSTIMA (A) KARUTURI (H) SONY (A) BANDARI (A) KKHB (H).
With the current ongoings at the club, Efusi will disappoint their fans once again. They will lose to Gor Mahia, SONY and Bandari.
    VERDICT: 4Th.

From the provided fixture list, I have worked out the following (a) Gor will need to win At least 6 matches, draw 2 and lose 2. The six wins should come against the direct competition ie Efusi, Sfpaka, Ulinzi, Tusker and any other two sides. By doing this Gor will open an unassailable lead over the competition. For example, if we beat Efusi we open a gap of 12 points between us and them with only 9 matches remaining. If We beat Tusker the gap grows to 14 and we still hve a match on hand against them. We beat Sopaka and the gap grows to 11. If we beat Ulinzi our points difference grows to ten points. (2 draws and 2 loses= loss of 10pts) we still win the League on Goals from Ulinzi Our competition must win all their matches to push us this FAR and only lose to Gor Mahia.

    (b) We can also strive to win any 7 of the remaining 10 matches. One of the 7 wins must come against Ulinzi. We will still be Champions. This League has developed 3 different tiers/ segments. Segment 1 is Gor Mahia. Gor’s position on the log is never affected by the results posted by the other 15 teams. Segment 2 consists of all the teams occupying position 2 to 12. Its here where We keep registering lots of positional changes after weekend matches. Points difference btwn no 2 and 12 is only 4. Then segment 3 is occupied by teams in no 13 to 16. These are the teams fighting to avoid relegation.

I am therefore persuaded to call the League in Favour of Gor Mahia, especially if we can win the matches as explained above. I have arrived at this conclusion because our opponents do not have the luxury of losing even one more match. The number of remaining matches does not favour them too.

We can therefore predict that the League is for Gor Mahia to lose.

Michael@9 I share and suport yuor viewpoint. It is also important to keep in mind that every club is in this competion to win and will always play tactifully to get the best results.
Our fans have made it a habbit to complain to the extent of hurling abussive words and even rioting at the slightest perception of under performance by the team.

It is a long time since we last consistently maintained top position, Let’s keep our exitement low until our glory becomes obvious. Meanwhile I wish our team best luck to win the next game.

  • GOR HAS THE TOUGHEST OUTINGS, THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT AT LEAST THESE TEAMS WILL HAVE AN OPEN GAME AS THEY WOULD ALSO LIKE TO WIN THE LEAGUE. EACH GAME AT A TIME.

THE SMALLER TEAMS ARE MORE TRICKY TO BEAT – THE CITY STARS, BANDARIS, KARUTURI’S ETC.

I WOULD MAINLY LIKE TO APPEAL TO ALL THE KOGALO FAMILY TO APPRECIATE COMPETITION AND KNOW THAT IT WILL NOT BE EASLY SAILING. HAVE THE MENTAL STRENGHT, CONTROL YOUR EMOTTIONS; SUPPORT YOUR TEAM THROUGH LOWS AND HIGHS, THROUGH SNOW, FIRE AND BRIMSTONE.

THERE COMES A TIME WHEN THE TEAM IS GREATER THAT AN INDIVIDUAL, A HOOLIGA ETC

The gap between us and the chasing pack is very small….just 1 stumble and Ulinzi will be within sight of us.

We must shift to higher gears going forward as we seem to have the more difficult run-in on paper!!There is no such thing as big or small teams anymore…for me all the teams are determined to take points off each other.

However, should we maintain consistency in the remaining games,am sure we will have reason to celebrate come December!!Go boys,we are right behind you!!!!

Guys we need a combination of hard work and divine providence to lift this trophy. Lots of level-headedness will be required from the players, TB , EC and the fans. Currently the league is ours to lose and the problem is that losing it will be easier than winning it. Let’s therefore focus on only one thing and stop all the sideshows that will crop up along the way. We need to emulate our usual second leg performamnce where we are usually the best team and in that way we will be home and dry

The board’s spokesman Rakhi Asman says K’Ogalo will be allowed to play AFC Leopards’ at Kasarani if they take blame of past destruction at the venue

The Sports Stadia Management Board (SSMB) has insisted that Gor Mahia must take responsibility for destruction caused by their fans if they are to be allowed to play the derby against AFC Leopards’ at Kasarani on Sunday.

A spokesman for the stadia board Rakhi Asman has expressed concerns that the club is yet to take responsibility and is instead shifting blame.

Gor Mahia have been banned from playing in stadia managed by the board and have been fined Sh2.8million to repair for the damages caused by fans after a league match against Nairobi City Stars.

“As a board we are ready to dialogue with the club and allow them to use our facilities but they have to take responsibility.

“This will prove to us that they are serious about dealing with the issue of hooliganism. We are concerned that they keep insisting those were not their fans. It only takes us round the issue with no way forward,” Asman told Goal.

He said they are ready to lift the ban so long as Gor Mahia proves that they are willing to pay the fine and also give an undertaking to prevent a similar occurrence.

“We are not saying that they pay the fine at a go. If they are willing to talk to us, we can come up with an acceptable plan to see how best to deal with the situation.”

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier says they have received the letter banning them and will engage the SSMB on Wednesday so that the derby against arch-rivals AFC Leopards’ can proceed.

Our most immediate goal is to beat Efusi. Given a choice between winning the derby but lose the league and lose the derby but win the league my deepest feelings would lead me to choose the former. The championship will take care of itself.

It is that important and therefore the task ahead of us this week is very huge. So huge that to quote Dan “we need to keep focus, discipline and goodwill”. Even if the team is not camping, we as fans need to take time off and go to camp like we did in September 2012. Let us go into a prayer and fasting camp where we will humble ourselves and seek the face of God for his glory, power and might to be with our team and grant us victory. What we need is humility before man and God at this time. For that reason and for the sake of K’Ogalo, let us avoid anger, unnecessary fights or insults…at least for this week.

Quite an analysis,Le Pastre, in fact GM could safely seal the title by their (next) fifth game. GM has one strong advantage in that apart from Tusker B.W will b facing the rest of the teams 4 the first time so he will treat all of them seriously.Following the earlier draw against tusker means this is a match he wants 2 win the most.
Like i said b4 by Sir Bob(& Loga) taking GM to 2nd spot means B.W’s main goal is 2 lift the league & then the GoTV cup.
Only the EC can mess things up now/again.

Oh no,maayo FINANCIAL BLACKMAIL will cost GM the league title.
On careful reading of @16 Omuke’s post I wonder why SSMB is pleading with GM 2 “accept responsibility” & “show willingness 2 pay the fine”, A WHOOPING 2.8M PLUS 1M BOND TOTAL 3.8M.
If EC caves as it usually does after chest thumping it means winning bonuses & even salaries of players &TB is at a real risk,& with it our title hopes.
    SOLUTION 4 EC IS 2 MOVE THE GAME 2 CITY & CHARGE 1500 & 1K 4 VIP & TERRACES RESPECTIVELY

IF FKF REFUSE THEN LETS FORFEIT THE MATCH TO SHOW FKF THAT WE ARE SERIOUS & THAT:
    1. SSMB & FKF CANNOT SHIFT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF SECURITY OF ITS PROPERTY TO CLUBS
    2. FKF/KPL/ SSMB SHOULD ENGAGE POLICE 2 ARREST CRIMINALS ON THE SCENE AS EC HAS REFUSED TO HAND OVER THE NAMES.
YES ITS TIME 4 DRASTIC OPTIONS COZ AM SURE EVEN COMRADE BB WOULD NOT ACCEPT OUR PLAYERS/TB TO GO WITHOUT THEIR HARD EARNED REMUNERATION. IMAGINE IF IT WERE YOUR SALARY AT RISK. THAT FINE & CONDITIONS WILL ADVERSELY AFFECT GM

If we maitain the gap then the game against Ulinzi can just be a formality to hand over the trophy. But for that to happen we have to play every game like it’s a FINAL. The comforting thing is that other teams will also lose points but we should not/or lose the least points. For the chasing pack every point they lose is a gain for GM so the pressure will also be on them

  • Thank you all for your encouraging words. Pls allow me to air my unqualified thoughts opinion on HOOLIGANS and HOOLIGANISM in and out of our stadiums. And I want to posit-: Why would a Bank CEO, Cabinet/Principal Secretary, Parastatal CEO, an Industrialist, Lecturer, Professor, Researcher, Doctor, Visiting Tourists, Heads of International Bodies,Diplomats or even the President leave the confines and the comfort of his lavishly furnished home, house, office or even hotel room to come to City stadium, on a hot and windy Sunday afternoon and to sit on a Dusty concrete slab to watch Gor Mahia play?? Is it to kill boredom, to cause chaos during and after the match or to enjoy good football, have fun, make friends, meet new and old business partners and even to sign and seal new contacts? Its a high time tht we realised the importance of sport and football especially in our society. Sports in general is meant for disciplined, tempered and organised people. There are lots of opportunities tht will never be realised by both the club and her fans as long as we continue to let these hoodlums get access into our stadiums. People have met and married their partners in sports grounds, Others have secured jobs while attending sports activities while some have secured huge contracts while attending a football match. Can one get such an opportunity while attending a Gor Mahia/ AFC match?? The answer is an emphatic NO. Despite being the 2 largest crowd pullers in the country, many important personalities and a big population of our people though interested in football, still shy away from attending matches involving the two giants. Reason? The fans of these two teams are considered to be very volatile and given to VIOLENCE under the slightest or no PROVOCATION at all. We therefore must strive to provide an enabling environment in and out of our stadiums so as to attract the attendance of those people who are currently staying away because of our perceived violent and destructive behaviour.

Together we can make GM a one strong, indivisible and invincible team. Please let’s stop Hooliganism in and out of our stadiums. The right thing to do is for us to start a campaign dubbed: NAME AND SHAME THE HOOLIGANS. REJECT HOOLIGANS and HOOLIGANISM. Only by doing this will we be able to draw more people into our stadiums. Carrying banners and POSTERS proclaiming peace during press briefings will not remove the hooligans from the stands. But Naming, shaming and banning them from the stadiums will keep them away. As much as its the Responsibility of the home team and the Governing body to provide security during the matches, we must each be responsible for our individual actions.
If we manage do drive these hooligans away, and we will, there can only one result: More money for our club hence better remuneration for the team resulting into IMPROVED and BETTER PERFORMANCES. As for the fans, the promise of new grounds being broken as we mix and mingle with the high and mighty football lovers in all the sectors of our society is very exciting. I Can see the next big deals, contracts, business ventures being launched, signed and sealed during one of our matches. Single men and women will meet their future better halves in our stadiums. Together TUNAWESMAKE. Drive hooligans and hooliganism out of our stadiums. Name, Shame and ban them.
