Muguna and Joash Onyango hint at leaving

Kenneth Muguna has posted on his twitter page that he is likely to leave the club soon.

Muguna has been associated with various transfer rumours mostly to Simba FC of Tanzania. His twitter post read simply: “A new challenge maybe”.

Previously, Muguna hinted to People Sports that he could soon be leaving.

“I cannot say about tomorrow because I have 18 months left on my contract with the club,” Muguna was quoted by People Sports.

“However, when something comes up and it is good enough, we will consider it as long as due process transpires.

“For now it is a wait-and-see approach as we weigh options because so far three clubs have shown interest, so we are just waiting for the right time.

“This is our job as players and so we will always be knocking on doors. As long as the pocket is right, players will get motivated to play.

“At the end of the day, the right environment will be the driving force behind a player’s performance, after all, we have mouths to feed.”

Gor Mahia coach Steven Polack is on record as stating he does not want to lose any player from his current squad ahead of next season.

“If you ask me, I know very little about contracts of my players because I never signed them,” Polack told Goal in a previous interview.

“I don’t know which player is running down a contract or which player wants to go.

“But as a coach, I want to keep all my players, I have to fight and keep my players it is not good to lose your players so I have to fight to keep the squad intact, you need all your good players available.”

Joash Onyango: I am ripe for a new challenge

Additional reporting from goal.com

Kenya defender Joash Onyango has revealed he is ready for another challenge after his current contract with Gor Mahia expires.

The K’Ogalo assistant captain has been consistent for the Kenyan side and has been influential both for the club and the national team. The Harambee Star is now keen on making a move but has not ruled out chances of staying at his current team.

“To be honest my contract with Gor Mahia expires in December,” Onyango revealed to KTN.

“So if any team approach me with intentions to get my services, I will not think twice.”

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked to Tanzania Mainland Champions Simba SC who are desperate to replace Ivorian Pascal Wawa.

“Yes, I have heard numerous reports linking me with a move to Simba,” Onyango stated.

“However, to date, I have not been contacted by any representative of the team. I have been reading a lot regarding the move, but nothing tangible, those are just rumours.”

Onyango joined K’Ogalo from Western Stima in 2017, and has gone to help them win back-to-back KPL titles and helping them in continental assignments. He was part of the team that qualified for the Caf Confederation Cup quarter-finals in the 2018/19 season.

The team went on to fall 7-1 on aggregate to RS Berkane of Morocco.

Other players whose contracts at K’Ogalo have or are about to expire include Charles Momanyi, who has been linked with a move to KCB, winger Nicholas Kipkirui and Ghanaian Jackson Owusu.

    • They maybe somewhere where they at least they have been paid for the last 5 months unlike Muguna, Joash and other Gor Mahia players.
With the quality of players you’re derisively dismissing Gor Mahia would have been a continental giant, or maybe even won another continental title.
I share with you some wise words from Simba Chairman.
“For us, we always have the mindset to be champions while for Yanga, in my opinion, they just think to defeat Simba and not necessary to compete with other big teams on the continent.”

  • Gor is one rare football club where elections are more important than player welfare.
Where electing plus retaining certain officials ranks higher than signing or retaining talented players.
Very well maybe the officials will be fielded in CAF matches.
With 18 months still left on his contract Muguna can only be a free agent because on non payment of his salary for 2 or more months.

Players & TB are desperate yet we have an aspiring treasurer denying the players and TB over kes.200k+ raising using Gor Mahia’s brand name.
Is money raised for the players & TB being used to fund someone’s election campaign?

That is why we need new and fresh ideas and ideologies. Let’s vote ? in people of high integrity whose major focus will be to take Gor to the next level…. Something that this current crop of leaders won’t and can’t do!!
