Musa and Walusimbi extend their stay at Gor Mahia

On Wednesday, long serving defender and captain Musa Mohamed put pen to paper on a new contract that will see him stay at Kogalo until 2019. Mohamed is the longest serving player at the club having joined in 2010, soon after finishing form four at Langata high along with Kevin Omondi. The last two years have seen Musa build on his experience and play the best football of his life.

Also penning a two year deal is Ugandan midfielder Godfrey Walusimbi. He has been instrumental as both a playmaker and occasional goal-scorer. His excellent form has seen him become a regular for the Ugandan national team.

Coach Dylan Kerr is happy as he plots an assault on the 2018 Africa champions league where Kogalo’s record has been below par.

“The expectation for us to go to the Champions League and win is high and the players want this platform to market themselves. It’s not good when you have players’ contracts running out because everybody will come for them,” said Kerr.

“I don’t want my players to fall for deals from some unscrupulous agents with empty promises. I want them all to stay. I don’t want the team to be messed up by so many new recruits.”

“One of Sir Alex Ferguson’s biggest strengths was that he didn’t change his squad time and again. Look at his tally of premier league titles in England. If we want to be the best, we must copy the best.” said Kerr to the Nation.

The club has done the right thing to tie them to long-term contracts. I’m happy for the team and Africa here we come. Good luck in 2018.

  • Congratulations to the EC for another job well done , so far so good , now we need that reinforcement on the areas that the TB shall identify .
This reinforcement should be a task that should be done , not to strengthen as on the domestic front, but with an eye on Africa .
Having the players though should just be one plank of a bigger plan and which is adequate preparation whose foundation is a sound financial outlay , if that happens , I guarantee a lot more of good things continentally than we have projected .
This is a Team to go far ofcourse with the anticipated reinforcement .
Players should also be alive to the fact that no matter what circumstancesabound , the African elite stage is the best stage to showcase their wares directly to the real football scouts thereby undercutting the vultures in the name of agents who trot the continent conning our desperate youths t

Hi, Comrades plz plz lets stop the non sense of identifying players with their regions here. it only shows how backward we are by trying to show how affiliated we are to some players. Gor is for all and bears players from all over the East and central Africa as well coach from Europe. How would they feel when they see this kind of affiliation.????. We must work towards strong player coach motivation and not Luo central and south Nyanza players. Further we also have die had fans from Coast, ukambani, luhya western and even european countries this must be respected at all efforts.
