Nuttall: Gor Mahia will need to pull up socks
Gor Mahia coach Frank Nuttall has termed his team’s performance against CNaPS of Madagascar as below par. According to Nuttall, the team allowed CNaPSs to take a big lead in the first half
“Our performance was poor because we took long to settle in the game. We lost total concentration in first half and our opponents capitalized on that to score quick goals. We knew we had to come out strongly in the second half and that’s exactly what we did to contain them,”
Gor Mahia will next face AC Leopards of Congo-Brazzaville, and coach Nuttall is under no illusions about the task ahead.
“They won the confederations cup, they have a number of international players. It will definitely be a step up. They will be and a very tough task. ” said Nuttall.
However Nuttall too will need to step up to a higher level. He freely admitted that he knew nothing about CNaPS. The Madagascans coach on the other hand said he had watched a number of Gor Mahia videos from 2014 and even though the team had changed, he had an idea what to expect. The result was that CNaPS came very close to eliminating Kogalo.
Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier for his part decried the fact that the team is currently understaffed for international assignments.
“We are only 19 players registered for the CAF. And we expect that in August of this year we will be able to beef the squad particularly the defense, said Rachier
Better Officiating
Last year when Gor Mahia played US Bitam of Gabon, the referee appeared dead set to help the Gabonese side progress. He went as far as awarding them dubious penalties which keeper Jerim Onyango saved. It appeared the referee had been comprmised. CAF has a weird system where the home team is responsible for paying referees their match fees. This system is prone to corruption.
This time however the level of officiating was much better according to Chairman Rachier.
“The level of officiating was the best, the officials did their job very well and we lost the match gracefully but thank God we have progressed to next stage of the competition”

Nuttal, it’s good you have realized that. Now help the team pull up those socks. If it’s tactical and fitness issues you are in charge. If it’s other admin issues then let the EC handle those so that the boys concentrate on what they do best.
Within and outside the EC can’t we have a person or group to organize us into financing this team in a more organized and transparent way? We should not be like the proverbial coastarian waiting for mnazi to fall from the tree.

Jakom you have only 19 players registered for CAF but a bloated EC of 11 officials inclusive of 3 Vice Chairman and 5 secretaries. Why?
Maybe some of the officials were supposed to take part (play) in the CAF matches.
Kudos Nutall your realization that the 1st round proper and preliminaries are different ball games might just see you through.

Jakom and Jo Kogalo EC please consider starting a salary fund to secure the wages for 2015.
If the wage bill is kshs.4,000,000 per month then we need to mobilize 8,000 fans/members to contribute kshs.500.00.
EC must come up with tangible benefits for these members i.e discounted tickets, privileged entry and vantaged /guaranteed sitting positions.

Our beloved K’galo has definitely way in excess of 8,000 fans/supporter/ members so it is upto EC to get only between 250-500bob per month from the potential support base.
All EC is to come up with TANGIBLE BENEFITS in exchange for the vital financial support.

@Oduor12, we have heard all these proposals and criticisms year in and year out. It is only the election that can change composition of the EC and in this regard we have to wait for 2016 when Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held. Members including you and me have to be blamed for having proposed and passed a resolution to have bloated office at the EC level and we as fans can only undo this by the same members again passing resolutions to have 5 elected officials only that can include the:-
1. Chairman,
2. Deputy Chairman,
3. Secretary General,
4. Deputy SG and
5. Treasurer.
@Oduor12, have read the Sports Law outlawing clubs operating under the Society Act? I think this is where our problems started. The rain started beating us with this outdated Society Act. We have to adopt the new requirement by the Sports Act. It is now opportune time to adopt the change of the club into a limited liability company that in the long run should be listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) under the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) rules and regulations, which calls for full disclosures and accountability.
@Oduor12, we as members have veto power to change the constitution and incorporate a limited liability company by name Gor Mahia Investments Ltd with only seven elected directors with a full functioning secretariat office with salaried staffs whose terms and conditions of employment are guided by Key Performance Indicators (KPI) as stipulated by the club long term strategic plan that must be developed and owned by the board of directors. The full time salaried employees of the club have the following staffs:-
1. Chief Executive Officer,
2. Finance and Strategy Director,
3. Marketing & Membership Director,
4. Merchandising and Procurement Director and
5. Development Director (Academies and Recruitment)
Right now @Oduor12, let us focus our energies and brains on means and ways of raising the required funds for our clamour club to the team to participate in the Champion League 2015. Now it is not time of pulling in different directions but to pull our resources, energy and support towards one direction of beating AC Leopards. We need everyone support to conquer Africa and yes we can conquer Africa with one unity of purpose.
On long term sustainability, we have the fan base and I think the officials are not in better position to pursue aggressive membership and affiliations recruitment process. This can be done by the salaried secretariat that will bring different professional skills to achieve our long term objective of having 30,000-50,000 fully paid members of the club. The secretariat personnel will have performance indicators like KPI to achieve on Key Result Areas (KRA) as set by the board’s long term strategic plan. If they fail to achieve their KPIs, then there will be no bonuses as well as salaries review.
@Oduor12, once the task of fund raising is devolved to the secretariat, then the work in Gor Mahia will be very easy and the club will be liquid. At this point, we will be able to have our own stadium, training ground, proper youth systems, attract more professionals both at the secretariat and playing unit. This is the way to.
@Oduor1, the board membership should comprise of professionals and good reputation and integrity to develop the strategic plan. The strategic plan will be implemented by the secretariat personnel under the watchdog of the board sub-committees. This is what I call good corporate governance principles.
Secretariat personnel must achieve KPIs in order for the club to move forward. The role of shareholders, fans and supporters will be to:-
1. pay entry tickets,
2. purchase season tickets,
3. support the team during both home and away matches,
4. purchase club branded merchandises etc.

@ Oduor 12, totally agree with your views , lets forget about madagascar, its water under the bridge ……..the biggest headache…….now that FKF / KFF feud is running into the second week, our players will be seating home doing nothing and more so, we have a wage bill of Kshs 4 million per month to pay ??? without league matches to shore up our gate collections and pay salary arrear , where will the money come from ????? am quite sure the club is now running into salary and allowance arrears !!!!!
Bloggers I suggest people start coming up with innovative ways of financing our players salaries and upkeep allowances and the rest will take care of itself otherwise we shall loose everything we have worked stupidly hard to develop so far .

ODUOR 12, how is the EC connected in the number of players available? Sometimes we are unnecessarily harsh on the office. What was the line up for that match, please some one tell me.
JGJ you seriously don’t see the connection or you simply don’t want to see the connection.
Just to refresh your memory.
1. Gor Mahia won the league in Nov2014 hence automatically qualifying for Africa’s most prestigious club competition.
Some wrongly think that KPL is the top most prize available to Gor Mahia. Nay the pecking order is CAF Cup, CECAFA, KPL, GoTV, then Top 8.
2. The 2 month transfer period commencing 1st Dec through to 31st Jan is meant to address exactly what Jakom is complaining about. In fact EC recruited Augustine Walusimbi, the Ghanaian Zackary who were later rejected by the coach. Point is EC went to sleep after winning the league while knowing very well that Gor would be taking part in the CAF Cup come Feb2015.
THEREFORE YOU COULD NOT HAVE REGISTERED ONLY 19 PLAYERS FOR CAF YET THE PROVISION IS FOR 25/30. UNLESS AS EARLIER STATED EC NEVER INTENDED GMFC TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CAF CUP.
SOMETIMES I THINK EC NEVER WANTS GM TO PERFORM WELL AS THE WINNING BONUSES WILL EAT INTO THEIR ILLEGAL EARNINGS.
THE TRUTH BE GOR MAHIA WINNING IS VERY EXPENSIVE FOR EC.

No KPL league for the second week means the players will idle around doing nothing and within no time, salary arrears and match winning bonuses will begin to pile up not forgetting CAF 1st round matches. Like a blogger pointed out, the kshs 4 million monthly budget must still be paid wether there is FKF or KPL or both.

Our chairman Mr. Ambrose Rachier is really a determined person, no doubt about that. But our continued reliance on gate takings and hand outs has done its course and should be retired. I have read countless brilliant submissions on this site on how to move Gor Mahia forward in terms of Financial Stability but sadly non has been acted upon. Is it for lack of technical knowledge, finances or football political good will? Membership registration was half halfheartedly launched in a low key affair at City Stadium where only a handful of fans were present. It was bound to fail as it was deemed as an unnecessary exercise because the officials assume everybody and anybody in a Gor Mahia T- shirt is a fan and member of the club. Until now, we have not been told whether that exercise was born out of a collective reasoning by every member of the executive. Who is it or who were the people charged with the responsibility of moving the wheel of Membership Registration? Chairman Rachier seems to be the MOST trusted member of the Executive Committee and its upon him that this important responsibility must be laid. The success or failure of Gor Mahia depends on Rachier staying on as a Chairman as the rest are just but cheer leaders. Mr. Rachier, kindly read the past publications on this site and act on these informative submissions or call on the said contributors.

I stand corrected regarding what I said about Ali Abondo. I said that he should not have been re-signed since when he left in 2013, he had been accused of laziness. I was wrong. That boy can play. He seems to have turned over a new leaf. He scores more than the strikers. When strikers are blasting penalties over the post, he converts them. If its game ya kiatu, he can still play. This version of Victor Ali is much better than the 2012-2013 version.
The coach is right. There is always room for improvement and that is why teams practice vigorously.
