The ex-Harambee Stars’ midfielder admits he is upset at sitting on the bench after World governing body Fifa queried his move to the league champions

Gor Mahia midfielder Patrick Oboya says he is frustrated at sitting on the bench after World governing body Fifa queried his move to the Kenyan champions.

Oboya says he wants the matter resolved quickly as he did not commit any offense.“Before signing for Gor Mahia, I had terminated my contract with Than Hoa in Vietnam. When this issue came up I was asked to stay out until it is sorted out but it is frustrating and wish it is sorted out quickly,” Oboya told Goal.

Fifa have asked Gor Mahia to explain how they acquired services of the player as no International Transfer Certificate (ITC) was issued to him before he started playing for K’Ogalo.

Gor Mahia have defended their move to field Oboya in past matches insisting they got permission from Football Kenya Federation to use the player. The Kenyan champions could be docked points if Fifa finds them guilty of fielding an ineligible player.

Meanwhile, coach Bobby Williamson says his players do not feel the heat being at top of the league and will work hard top stay there. Ahead of the tricky clash with unbeaten Chemelil in round 13 of the league, Williamson says tough moments will be the final rounds when the winner will be decided.

“At this time I don’t think there is much pressure. We are on top and we are happy to be there. We have to work hard to remain there and the players know that,” the Scott told club website.

“We will face Chemelil just like we have against other teams. We have some few days to prepare for that game,” he stated. On the playing formation, the coach said he is now using three central defenders which has worked for Gor Mahia well but added that he can always change the pattern depending on the way the opponents play.

Gor Mahia has been fielding Israel Emuge, Haroun Chakava and David Owino at the heart of defense giving fullbacks Godfrey Walusimbi and Musa Mohammed more freedom to venture up front. K’Ogalo has 26 points from 12 matches, four ahead of Chemelil Sugar.
