Ochomo off to Ulinzi

From Nation.co.ke

Gor Mahia FC striker Wycliffe Ochomo is expected to finalise his transfer to Ulinzi Stars on Thursday as AFC Leopards on Wednesday also confirmed signing Gor defender Eric Masika

Ochomo told the Daily Nation in a telephone conversation that he’s happy that Gor and Ulinzi officials have agreed about his transfer to his new club and is to sign transfer forms on Thursday.

“I thank officials, players and supporters of Gor Mahia for the support they have given me while playing for the team and I’ve no grudges against anybody,” says Ochomo who was recruited by Gor from Congo United during last year’s transfer period.

While in Gor, Ochomo played just seven matches but managed to score one goal. He could not play many games as a result of injuries and also his secondary school

studies.

He sat his Form Four examinations at Mombasa’s Tononoka Secondary School last year.

At the same time, the Masika transfer tale seems to have reached an end after Gor Mahia agreed to release the defender to AFC Leopards.

After lengthy talks between the two clubs, Gor softened their stance on the transfer fee, agreeing to the Sh450,000 offer from the Leopards, making it the most expensive KPL move thus far.

In Mombasa, Ochomo promised to be at his peak while playing for Ulinzi Stars, the 2010 champions, this season.

“I’ll have no worries as I’ve completed my studies so I hope to steer Ulinzi Stars to greater heights of prosperity,” said the well-built striker.

The player was the darling of Coast fans for steering Congo United to win three matches in the Kenya Premier League.

He was one of the players who started playing for Congo since it was formed in 2008 and was the team’s joint top scorer each season with Ramadhan Athman Mbuggus who has joined Gor for this season.

  • Still asking. Can we be told who is in and who is out and who is on the fence. I believe that’s not asking too much. The Sec Gen promised to have the GM official website up and running in two weeks a month ago. Is it up so that we can get this and other info from the site?

  • Best wishes Ochomo and PPO. Since footy is what puts food on your table you are free to move to whichever team will do that. The only advice is not to burn the bridges as you proceed to your destination. Is there a ceremony to welcome the new boys just like they do in other places?

  • i agree with dan……..can somebody please officially tell the green army which players are coming in and which players are going out or have gone out. rather than rumours here and there……it is very sad that a club like gor mahia can not keep their members informed of such critical information.

This Ochomo fellow may have finished form 4 last year but I think he is at least 23. Shades of Henry Motego when he played for Itierio high.

  • I salute Masika and Ochomo for their services. I wish you all the best in your new teams.
For the Office, let us have a ceremony for unveiling our new players and i urge the movement to be tolerant with them as they adjust.
