Okoth to miss derby

from futaa.com

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants Gor Mahia have been dealt a big blow ahead of their game with league leaders AFC Leopards on Sunday 18 March with the news that one of their key players will miss the action.

Knee injury

Kenyan international midfielder Collins Gattuso Okoth will sit out the game as he failed to recover in time from a knee injury he sustained in his team’s last game against champions Tusker on Wednesday 14 March.

The hard tackling midfielder, speaking to futaa.com, confirmed that he had failed to recover in time for the game and so will just be in the stadium to offer support to his fellows when they play the league leaders.

Not ready for Sunday

-I have no chance of featuring in the game. Initially I thought it was just a slight injury which I could recover well to play this game but on that day when I reached at home I realized it was much more serious. It has been healing well since Wednesday but at the moment I can’t say it is 100% okay for the game.

-If all goes well I will be available for the Top 8 game between us and AFC Leopards but for the Sunday game I am out,I will just watch my teammates and support them. Hopefully we will win this one, he said.

Okoth got injured during the game but played on up to the 90thminute as Gor Mahia slumped to two second half goals from Jockins Atudo and Patrick Kagogo after they had put in a very good show.

    Get well soon Gatusso.

Excuse me ‘Football’ may I have a man-to-ball talk with you. Of late your behaviour towards Gor Mahia has left us K’ogalo family in shock and bewilderment. You have obstinately refused to shake our opponents’ net in a way never seen before. What is up Ball? Are we not treating you the way you want? Don’t we take care of you? You see you have no answer because you have no reason to justify your obstinacy.

Ball you are fully aware of Gor Mahia’s contribution to your development and recognition in this part of the world. In fact there is no where your matters can be discussed without the mention of Gor Mahia. Why do you refuse to play your part and hit our opponents’ net when our boys kick or head you? Why? You don’t expect us to know what’s bugging you if you don’t tell us. We are not Angels. If you are ball enough then speak out and let us know where the problem is.

Please have a ball heart: think of those boys hired by Gor Mahia to play you. They earn their livelihood from you. Am sure you have witnessed what they go through when you refuse to play your part.

Think of Sir Bobby. This is a guy who literally grew up with you at his feet. A guy who adored you and spent all his life with you. Please show him some respect. We adore him. Who are you to act otherwise?

You have failed to answer back but I hope you have heard me out. This conduct must stop forthwith and come this afternoon we as K’ogalo nation want you to go there and hit the fundus of that ingwe net not just once; not twice, but at every opportunity until that Matasi man feels dizzy.

While we acknowledge that Gattuso is one of our best players,we must admit that Gor’s mode of play is based on team work rather than individual talent.we cannot single out any individual player who has so far been outstanding as a playmaker so his absence will not affect the Team.

  • the so called “fans”. by now its pretty obvious who is destroying football in kenya. after abondo tried to break someones leg. what kind of culture do the gor players have. there is something wrong with the club.. how do u aim such a kick to ur fellow player.this guy deserved the red card and probably an arrest. come in the gor stone age club… its obvious that the players on both sides nolonger had the stomach to play…this is what i call working with a knife on ur neck. the end result was a poor display of football by the so called top clubs of kenya soccer. the gor fans then go home “wallowing in poor mediocrity”, happy that they held leapards one man less. it amuses me how gor fans take pride in such situations, then on top of this ur supposed seen wearing a fake jersey, its unfortunate how alot of these guys feel that wearing an adidas fake t-shirt gives one the right to behave this way. i know there exist some who are innocent but u know what they say about one rotten apple.its the same image that a policeman will have, even if he does not take the bribe, the fact remains that by just wearing the uniform ur image is already dented.until this ghetto mentality leaves the club, then i can confidently state that gor is heading nowhere… i also blame the gor EC for not educating these adidas guys about etiquette, these clowns atually have no idea what damage they do to the club and the standard of football in this country in general. i now stand convinced and painfully so that the league is better off without gor mahia fc.

  • Gattuso quick recovery and pole .Let us not blame the fans all the time The referee today was biased. When confronted with two nearly similar situations he acted with alot of bias. In case 1 a serious professonal foul: verdict, yellow card. Case 2: a good defensive dispossesion, a red card. What do you expect from the fans in an electroemotive kogallo /ingwe atmosphere !

Vincent Ocampo have respected your views here. Am disappointed with your contribution here. Be neutral and call it by its name. The Vic challenge was way bad. Don encourage hooliganism and indispline. That was a straight red card and be charged with grave bodily harm. Now everyone is cursing Gor! Check media headlines and they are not wrong.

am one sad GOR MAHIA die hard. ref’s decision is final however biased it may seem. remember 2006 UEFA Champions League final where ARSENAL was robbed the trophy by such ref. the fans dint spoil the game after Lehman’s dismisal.
we ought to lead by example. sharing drinks and crackin jokes with AFC LEOPARDS Fans before the match aint enough but th same ‘Ushemeji’ should be carried on during and after the match no matter the scores
