Oktay says Oliech will return Tuesday

Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay believes he has convinced striker Dennis Oliech to return to the club’s training ground on Tuesday.

“I spoke to him (Dennis Oliech) and he is very positive. He has promised me that he will be available for training tomorrow (Tuesday). Dennis is a big name for Kenya, he is a big brand for the country and I need him back.” said Oktay to goal.com

Asked whether the issues have been resolved, Oktay stated that they were small issues that would be resolved in due course.

“I have also promised to help sort out the problems he is currently facing with the club. Those are small issues; that we can sort them because I don’t want him to stay away from the team,” he said

Oliech’s representatives up in arms

However Oliech’s representatives, speaking to the Daily Nation, struck a decidedly different tone.

“Oliech really wanted to be involved in the game (against Hussein Dey), but we felt that he shouldn’t because the club is not appreciating his efforts. It will shock you that since he signed for the club in December, Oliech has not received even a shilling as sign-on fee and he has been playing all that time. ” they told the Nation

They further went on to claim that Oliech did not want a salary or a contract from Gor Mahia.

“Oliech initially wanted to have an open contract so that he draws no salary from the club but only allowances. They refused this offer and said that they must sign him. When Oliech signed, we agreed on a sign-on fee that was to be paid in batches. But three months later, not even the first batch has been remitted. And when we ask about it, the officials keep taking us round in circles. Is that fair?

“Let it be clear that Oliech is not complaining about the salary delay. When we were signing, we knew that salaries can delay but why shouldn’t they pay his sign-on fee as agreed yet they have the money?

The representative further hinted at divisions within the club’s EC

“That secretariat is also very deeply divided and I will not shy off from telling them that what they are doing is wrong. Some officials are telling Oliech to play, and some are telling him not to play because there is money and they are withholding it from him deliberately. What level of unprofessionalism is that?

“They refused to let Oliech play for Gor as a free agent and insisted on his signature. Now Oliech is tied at Gor, and the club is refusing to pay his dues yet when a deal comes through, the club stands to benefit. Is that right?,” posed Ken, Oliech’s elder brother, who was present during the contract negotiations.

Ken Oliech, a former Gor Mahia striker and Oliech’s older brother said the officials are runining the club.

“They are messing up the club. And Oliech is speaking for the voiceless. If they can treat Oliech with such indifference, what about the other players who are too shy to speak up?,” he said to the Nation

Rachier: There is no delay

Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier for his part insists that everything is being done according to the agreed upon process.

“The issue of Oliech is very simple. We shall pay him on March 1 as per our agreement. The agreement was to pay him in instalments and take it from me, we shall do so before the end of this month. The other instalment is due at the beginning of the next season so there is really no issue,” said Rachier to the Nation

so are we dealing with Oliech’s family ir him as a player? Treating a brother as a cash cow even when the well is dry is now too much. Will we now deal with the player or the family. Such distractions have the potential to affect the whole team if not handled carefully. Walusimbi, Aucho, Wafula, et al all followed this path to oblivion

Let him get back to the team. Apparently, Ken Oliech is the problem here. Looks like a section of the EC have unfinished business with him from the days he quit playing for Gor Mahia. Ken should focus on his City Stars as EC put their act together. Oliech is a big name and this is embarrassing.

    Meanwhile
Sun 3.3.19 NA Hussein vs GM
    Sun 10.3.19 Zamalek vs GM
Sun 17.3.19 GM vs Petro Atletico

    But then
The next four matches for Gor Mahia read like this; Tusker (H), NA Hussein Dey (A), Ulinzi Stars (A) and Zamalek FC (A) all in the space of 12 days.

Club CEO Lordvick Aduda has raised issue with the organizers of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) for their fixture congestion.

Gor have to fly away to Algeria for their match day 4 fixture against Hussein Dey before returning back to the country to face Ulinzi in a rescheduled league tie before again flying out, this time to Egypt for their match day 5 fixture against Zamalek. All this in the space of a week.

J’Asego mambo gani haya tena? I thought this was sorted out in good time.

@BB plans were and are as i had told you before. No one is planning to come back here and play ulinzi in a rescheduled tie before going to cairo. Those are ofcourse the usual FkF and Kpl Conspiracies to always make life difficult for us to claim a third consecutive league title and keep the trophy for good.GM will request a postpondment of that ulinzi and if they refuse well i guess my concerns are answered…

  • If this Oliech’s brother assumed his rantings would cause sympathy for Oliech’s situation , then he is just succeeded in achieving the opposite , he risks drai ning any sympathy or understanding Oliech was having f rom the base , This guy pupporting to be speaking on behalf of the voiceless ought to get it in his head that as a club , we are having so much on our plate , with a game on wednesday , a life or death situation this sunday in Algiers and the next Sunday in Cairo and I didnt have to say this but just to show am losing my patience I will have to say it , Oliech’s brother ought to reminded that we were already on our way to victory against Zemalek without Oliech , won decisively against Hussein dey without Oliech .
The Chairman , who I personally have issues with but who I support on this , has given a public commitment on the payment schedule and hence Oliech’s brother can choose to go with Rachier on this or with Nyangi who is definitely the unnamed EC official inciting the player to boycott training .
Lastly I wish to remind this Oliech’s brother that there is a complete difference between harambee stars and Gor Mahia , unlike Harambee stars “fans” who have zero emotional connections to the team , kogalo fans are so emotionally invested in the club and can be reasonable to your situation this minute and be totally and uncontrollably unreasonable to your situation the next minute -That minute is fast approaching .

@Akira, bloggers are free to air their opinions and there is nothing wrong with @Teddy’s posting.

Look at this verbatim quote from Oliech’s brother. Do you support it?
Ken Oliech, a former Gor Mahia striker and Oliech’s older brother said the officials are runining the club.

“They are messing up the club. And Oliech is speaking for the voiceless. If they can treat Oliech with such indifference, what about the other players who are too shy to speak up?,” he said to the Nation

      • @Akira , a careful reading of my post or indeed of others who have expressed an opinion on the matter will show that there is nobody who doesn’t sympathise with Oliech’s situation or for all Gor Mahia players for that matter but rather with OLIECH’S BROTHER who the last time I checked was not a Gor Player neither was he the “Voice of the Voiceless “, because Gor players do not lack people to speak on their behalf , for if that were to be so ,we would have had him speak on behalf of the so called voiceless players before his brother joined the club .
Secondly , the coach has said his piece and what he intends to do for a solution , the chairman has not only clarified on the payment schedule but has even gone further to give a public commitment of payment by March 1st 2019 .
Lastly , whatever way it goes , my only constant when it comes to Gor Mahia is
Gor Mahia , not Rachier , not Oliech and most of all not “the voice of the voiceless and anything or anybody who causes distractions moreso like now will not be spared the “Vomit on our “Lapses “.

The Algerians has promised us fire and brimstone the moment the touches down in Algiers. Is it true that we didn’t provide hotel accommodation, training ground and transport?
I know they will make good their threat.I ,therefore, suggest EC engages Kenya High Commission in Algeria to book a training pitch, arrange for accomodation and transport. The team should even carry their own food and a cook.
Regarding Oliech’s stand off with the team….well,I don’t know who to believe here. One senior EC official said it was Oktay’s decision to leave him out.Now it appears it is about money. This EC needs to be professional in its operations.

    Mr Oliech, if the club has breached it’s contract then you are free to walk away. You can terminate your contract. But there is the problem ;
How do you revive your career? Gor Mahia was giving you the best stage.
You will come to realise that you are dealing with conmen. People who are used to lying and cheating that it has become normal.
These conmen will not be able to pay you 300K per month.
But you need money, only problem is that these guys drew you a sample picture and you believed.
    Alternative 1.
Get out of Gor n join Sofapaka. You will get less money but at least they are not sleeping hungry. Will your pride allow?
    Alternative 2.
Do a ‘Walusimbi’. Continue at Gor. Let the conmen believe they have you in a corner. Bid for time and let your talent speak. The stage is already set in the nxt two matches. You never know who will come knocking.
But if at any stage you think that the con EC or the amorphous jodala care about your plight, then maybe you deserved to be cheated.
Sofapaka way will put food on the table but it will waste ur time, something you might not have on ur side currently.
I sympathise with your situation. But go for Alternative 2. Or simply just walk away from it all.
Also get a proffesional to manage your affairs. If what the Chairman is saying is true then it shows clearly that your brother does not know how to read… and I am wrong. If the Chair is lying then maybe i’m right.

  • If I was to advise Oliech on this matter , I would tell him that the March 1st commitment is only 2days from today and with that in mind , he should just go back to training but come that day and he is not paid then he would have all the moral support he requires rather him not training then that day comes , sympathy must be tempered with common sense and not emotional turbulence for there to be a win win situation for both the player and the club.

At times i try keeping mum and silent from this site because my comments of the real and true picture can rabble rouse alot of emotions that i don’t need in my life. Be as it may at times it has to be said.
    1. Ken Oliech…I am not a relative of your family but you and Andrew Oyombe aka ‘Appache’ took advantage of Oliech while he was playing in France earning 11 Million Kshs a month and pumped the cash into useless investments like buying a fleet of nissan matatus plying route number 46 kawangware and route 4 Satellite Dagoretti Riruta that you pimped and mismanaged totally. People invest in real estate not matatu zinapiga kelele and going on road trips hazina maana carrying gangs and women while drunk. You now again want to manage Oliech are you sick in the head?
    2. Judith Nyangi is at it again inciting Oliech just like she did with Walusimbi and many others before. I mean even if you have a problem with EC don’t you love GM and would wish to see it prosper. Suppose we lose and you get your ‘I told you so moment’ how does it benefit GM?
    3. Jakoyo and his ilk of Jodala Associates politically mooted and negotiated this Oliech signing. The issue of salary and sign -on fees was guaranteed to be paid by none other than club patron. Why is AR and GM trying to shoulder a burden that was never ours to begin with while keeping mute. Patron pay Oliech we don’t have those monies as GM.
    4. The adage of sympathizing with GM players…does it mean we mistreat and demean our players as a club? We have our occassional financial challenges yes but to always put it that GM players are mistreated and require trade-unionism is wrong. They are the highest paid bracket of players in Kenya and few days salary delay cannot be interpreted to say Gor doesn’t appreciate it’s players. Others in vihiga earn 15k while in zoo it’s 20k…Least paid in GM basic salary is 70k (the ones currently training with the junior team…asudi…ombija and lokuwam) while most are between 100-150k while others 150-180k. 5 players are at above 200k and Oliech 350k. Compare that with Sofapaka and justify a team loving it’s players more than GM.
    5. Oliech you are still at 50% fitness levels far from the Top Level. Sebastien Migne has clearly told you this regarding gettig a call up to Harambee Stars for Afcon 2019. Instead of training and doing extra gym work you are getting into EC infighting and going on strike hanging around Matatu Sacco’s in town where the ageing fleet of matatus i talked about above still operate. You are Kenyan Football Brand # 1 and should be more professional. Listen to Coach Oktay only he has your best interest at heart and adores you. Hao wengine ni unga wanatafuta kwako bro ukivunjika kesho utajua uko pekee yako

Finally and N/B i adressed Oliech and his brother…EC and Patron plus Jakoyo only not bloggers here therefore respond to my blog carefully since Algerians already spoiled my week so careless remarks to my post will attract abuses in Queen’s Lingua that might take a year to decipher for a basic brain whose IQ level is perfunctory at best.

      I would like to comment on two perceptions;
      1. Oliech contract was with Gor Mahia and not jodala. These jodala simply painted for him a picture which he bought. He has no contract with the Patron. Chairman should have rejected these terms and given his own. Where is this jodala group now?
      2. I also differ that contracts are given out of love.
Otherwise, Oliech needs to get his groove back and Gor has the best stage. But if by chance he came back to football out of love, then I thnk Sofapaka, Sharks or Mathare were other options.
Why? they are not surrounded by groups like jodala and conny EC’s.
But does he have the time???
Yes, Gor would give him more cash, but unfortunately he negotiated with jodala but signed a contract with Gor Mahia. A tale of poor descision and poor advice from both Oliech(or his brother) and EC.
Oliech needs to understand that Gor can only give him a stage but not quick riches.
My advice to Oliech, get an adviser who can draw you an honest picture about the probable future, be patient and hope for the best.
Again… the Gor stage is already set, USE IT!!

Hehehe J’Asego I see you are so mad. We have a real battle in Algiers. Any blogger who has energy to attack others should go and offer security to our players in Algiers.

Dennis Oliech has resumed training with Gor Mahia , four days after he walked out.

Goal can report that the former Harambee Stars captain was among the players, who trained at the Camp Toyoyo ahead of the team’s mid-week league match against Tusker on Wednesday.

K’Ogalo team manager Jolawi Abondo confirmed to Goal , “Yes Dennis is back. He is training with us and could feature against Tusker tomorrow (Wednesday).”

I still feel shy discussing industrial matters like this facing Oliech. But just one line or two for Oliech and Gor Ec.
    1. Never hold your employer ransom, because they may fulfill their promise while you may not repair the damage you cause. As a staff of any organization, gor included, you must make yourself your employers first choice by remaining relevant. Thank God the intended damage of your absence didn’t work and at least you have hardened Gor management to believe they can do without you.

    2. Gor EC as an employer, must be forthright and inspiring trust among employees. What Mr. Rachier gave to the public regarding Oliech’s issue looked reasonable by any standard but the knack of lying has been branded on the club that even absolute truth comes out as a lie. I know some reputable companies with employees salary arrears but there was no strike not because of fear but because of responsive management and trust. Can someone say with confidence that there is no team in this league that sometimes experience salary payment challenges? Please I have not advocated for non payment of staff contractual obligations.

    3. If there is any new body of knowledge in management that Gor can be accredited with then that must be ‘ Management by lie’. The CEO of the club was on air in one of the local radio programme and categorically denied that Oliech walked out of the team due to payment issues. In fact, he said Oliech did not meet the Coach’s game plan and did not make it to the 20 players for the day. – A LIE. Recently regarding Nizygimana’s release, the CEO was quoted on media saying that FB2 position has many players in the team but it didn’t take long for our trip to Angola to reveal the truth. Gor had to pull a central defender for the position. I am not capable of citing Walusimbi’s move to SA because that drama was for the 274 members of Gor Mahia, Please bloggars and fans register so that you don’t miss out.
For the EPL lovers, why does the sale and purchase of players really hyped with all the detailed earnings covered in the press?

@Jasego, Osiepa i had actually absolved OLIECH on all this fiasco until today after internalizing the negative publicity on social media that pertains to K’Ogalo Vs OLIECH.
@ Dinga you are right this guy is surely failing again due to mismanagement while his siblings are still banking on his past glory. K’Ogalo is not the right platform to dwell on issues to do with a nonsensical, ridiculously and an impractical ill-advised footballer .
SILENCE is the best way to deal with such stupidity from the so called brother cum nondescript manager. Just allow them to spit all the venomous attack on K’Ogalo at this crucial moment while we pray to GOD to enable the team performance trend project an upward trajectory in his absence.
Then the rest “Tuwachie” if you know what am talking about… Surely between OLIECH and K’Ogalo who is more in need of a mutual relationship?….. He can SHIP out at any moment in time……BURE KABISA.

  • @BB , In my earlier post I posited on what was in my opinion a way forward to Oliech’s grievances and reading your post , it is confirmed that somebody with a more professional approach managed to get through to him and convinced him to get back to training and discard the bowl begging reasoning disguised as concern from his professionally imature brother .
Sometimes it is taken for granted that any time their is a feud between the EC and a player , then it is automatic that you have to be on the side of the player/s , sometimes and most of the time , without the benefit of the full facts sarrounding the feud , a case in point is this one where some want to scream in the name of sympathising yet none of us know what is in the agreement between Oliech and the club .
Sympathy is not synonymous with misadvise , that then leads to stalemates that more often than not , the one you are purportedly supporting ends up being the loser .
Finally I wish to remind Kevin Oliech of Yaya Toure’s agent who due to his childishness and picking up avoidable and unnecessary wars with Pep Guardiola and Manuel Peligrini before then has managed to drag Toure’s career , which still had at least 4yrs potential at the highest level to the ground.
Like one esteemed blogger has said , Oliech , please get a Professional adviser since your brother’s way of doing things is similar to Nyangi’s , a style that occasionally gives temporary excitement but no long term substance .
Hehe@BB , Ati those guys displaying fake outrage should go and guard the players in Algiers coz for sure that is where the real war is .

  • Like one blogger rightly said in the comments section of the previous article , that even as we focus on our international assignments , we have to take cognisance of the fact that our domestic assignments are equally very important and on that aspect we have to ensure that the gap between us and Bandari remains minimal and manageable and as such starting tomorrow with our game against Tusker and also bearing in mind that our team selection may be done
with Hussein dey in mind and hence some players may be rested , it is incumbent upon those who will make the team tomorrow to understand that this is a chance to proove that they are also worthy of being in the first team in subsequent matches , that is what professionalism entails and demands .
For tomorrows game , Hussein dey and Zemalek , Oliech’s return is a welcome relief , moreso for the Algiers and Cairo games for reasons that have already been well enumerated on this blog and again for which the coach has reinforced today .
All is well that ends well but cometh the day I.e 1st of March , may the agreement between Oliech be honoured but on the same breadth I wish to congratulate the EC for honouring the promise of rewarding the players the promised 100k if they qualified to this group stage , a reward that Oliech also benefited from as much as he was not in
    the squad
that ensured the group stage qualification , this , going forward should be further motivation to the players that more 100ks or more awaits them if they do the needful , the starting point being Algiers and Cairo .
Finally, and with the benefit of hindsight , the fright that enveloped as when the teams in our group was announced has since been disapproved , and truth be told , who amongst as here was not scared/frightened , that having been dispelled , we have absolutely nothing to worry about playing those warabus in their turf apart from the little matter of the promised war , How prepared are we for this war ?

The victory against the Algerians proved that the win over Zamalek was no fluke. With good planning and preperation, this team can go places. Kogalo has proved that they can match the best in Africa. Gone are the days when teams from North and West Africa were seen as almost unbeatable. The team needs to start winning or drawing away games. We must win the final home game and at least a draw away to have a mathematical chance of proceeding to the next level.
