Oliech not training
Gor Mahia striker Dennis Oliech is up in arms due to non payment of his dues.
Additional reporting from goal.com
Gor Mahia striker Dennis Oliech is missing from the squad that will face Hussein Dey on Sunday.
Goal understands that the former Harambee Stars captain has vowed not to join the rest of the players in residential camp that starts on Friday over pay. A source privy to the happenings confirmed to Goal that the player was agitated after finding out that he had only been paid Sh100, 000 on Friday.
“All the players were aware that the money will be wired to their respective bank accounts on Friday and when Oliech visited his bank, he found that they had only deposited Sh100, 000, which is less the agreed salary for each month.
“That was not the agreement as the club had promised to pay him his full salary after one month of signing for the club. He has now walked away and does not want to join the rest in camp. It means now that the club owes him as we head to another month that is ending now (February).”
When reached for comment, Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay confirmed that the player attended the training session. “He (Oliech) was in training today (Friday).”
Oliech already has one goal in the Caf competition coming against Zamalek in a 4-2 win but he missed the second Group match against Petro Atletico away in Angola owing to injury.
Efforts by Goal to reach out to the striker proved futile as his phone went unanswered. Gor Mahia will be going for their second win in the competition when they face the Algerian side at the Kasarani Stadium.
If it’s true that he is not training,it’s rather unfortunate and a very unwelcome distraction at this point in time!!
I cant blame Oliech if it is true. Anybody on salary need to be paid promptly to be motivated. The best thing is to find a permanent solution to this issue of players salary and allowances.
If the coach confirmed to you the he was in training, what’s the meaning of your headline?
Sam Muga is in deed right. In the preceding thread, Wuod Suba has stated that Dennis was in training yesterday. Wuod Suba never tells a lie on this wall. The coach too, has confirmed this. Surely Administrator, why do you propagate rumours? God is seeing all this. Repent.

The issue of Oliech joining GM at a whooping 350,000 per month salary was negotiated politically and his salary assured by well-wishers. @Jakoyo i believe you were one of the mooters of the formation of “jodala associates” which you termed here on this very wall as a vehicle formed by political and business magnates from luo nyanza to pay oliech his salary and ensure GM is converted into a fully privately owned entity capable of sustaining itself and matching the best continentally. Obet nade kendo owadwa jakoyo where Oliech salary default has started in the first month please enlighten us. Penjo ok rach jokamaa
And to go back to my down memory lane, I compare the journalism we had them e.g Roy Gachuhi and what we have , a case in point being this article .
A busybody in his unrelenting quest to sensationalise a non event quotes an anonymous source , then quotes Oktay who then clarifies to him the true situation on the training ground and then “Journalist” goes ahead to attribute a headline to the anonymous source despite getting the clarification from the one who should matter most in this story, kudos to Oliech also for refusing to acknowledge this “journalist’s” misadventure .
It has come to my notice , that their is a deliberate effort by sections of the media in cahoots with a remegade member/s of the EC to plant negative stories in the press anytime we are approaching an important match , and it is very sad that such a person/s is not able to separate their personal feuds with whoever and the wellbeing of the Club, its fanbase included.
It is on this aspect that am forever respectful of one time Sec.General Chris Omondi who on realising that his vision for the club was not in sync with the rest opted to do the honourable thing and resigned , going even further honourably to put his energies in the youth team , contrast this with these things who choose to stay within , to tear and not to build .
Its my hope that fans will treat this story and its engineers with the contempt it deserves, but I have to reiterate that this story notwithstanding , I must also point out that the EC communication unseriousness is what has given legs to such sheninigans.
Some of us here on the blog do claim to be regular attendees of Gm training sessions. Why don’t they come out to deny or confirm these romours. That not withstanding Gor cannot and shall not be derailed by issues of one player who nolonger harbours progressive ambitions but is only preoccupied with monetary gains. Players who wish to attract suitors often play for Gormahia for a possible future move to greener pastures, unfortunately this is not the case for Oliech considering his age.Let’s avoid sideshows, distractions and stay focused on tomorrow’s match.
Everyone who works is entitled to some sort of remuneration. However the timing of this matter does not bode well with the team considering we have a big game tomorrow.
We need that Gor Mahia paybill so that we cant assist by giving what we have.
Unfortunately I have confirmed that I was very very wrong in my post and that this story of
Oliech is true , be that as it may , we have a very high stakes assignment tomorrow and failure is not an option and if it is any comfort I will say that we were on the road to victory over Zemalek before Oliech was introduced and scored the fourth , this is in no way to diminish the influence of Oliech but rather to make the best use of who we have left .
All the best team Kogalo , whatever else we may have to say about the Oliech issue , lets freeze it til after the game and there is a lot to say .
Yes…It is an idea whose time has come if we are truly conquer Africa. it is true we are working hard behind the scene on ‘ jodala associates’ to deal with oliech salary matters and hopefully it should be operational by 1st April. The same vehicle will also pay transfer fees and salary for high profile players/acquisitions in the future. The sponsors are like minded fans, politicians, businessmen, foundations etc
Meanwhile, dylan kerr has also threatened to sue the club for close to kshs 3 million – accumulated salaries + bonuses for winning the league.
The proverbial ‘huge debt’ is indeed getting bigger by the day.
Truth be said,is this guy Denis Oliech with the current form worth 350k????
No no no no….
Awacho ayueyo
This 3million ya Kerr imetoka wapi tena?
The story carried on goal.com has nowhere written that Kerr would take legal action.
@Jakoyo, this “jodala associates” should not be a preserve for a few. It should be expanded to include anybody willing to help Gor Mahia by availing a paybill number.
Dylan Kerr my friend just write those monies off as bad debts and move on with your life. You terminated your contract prematurely and sent us into confusion with the effects of your sudden departure under false pretences (sic) broken spinal cord still being felt. You left GM and in so doing just forfeit any debts that were accumulated during your contract period…
Eish that is some warped logic, how much do we owe him
@Joshua am just trying to help Kerr. He himself sensationally claims he had no formal contract with GM but was hired on verbal agreements akin to casual labourers. Where then is the legal basis or ‘Locus Standi’ binding the club to pay him claims that are neither written anywhere or mutually signed in any formal binding agreement? Those are futile attempts hence my advise to him to keep balm and battle relegation tooth and nail in South Africa.
My focus is on tomorrow with or without Oliech.Pay disputes and the attendant industrial actions are matters of employee /employer. For now, we pray as usual that the matter is resolved rather quickly. When we speak or write, we say one thing and the receiver /reader/ listener gets a completely different thing. Look, the Chairman of Zamalek SC said Gor Mahia is a weak club and many got it right. Could I be the only one who got it wrong? This is what I got.
1. Zamalek is in a very precarious position as far as this confederations cup is concerned.
2. With only one point at the bottom of the table, the only chance to remain relevant and in good contention for top 2 finish is when NA Hussein Dey beats Gor Mahia.
3. What appeared to be a demeanor of Gor mahia, was indeed an inspiration talk to Hessein Dey to complete the business in Nairobi and the rest they can handle the Arab ways.
Please boys, don’t look at these cheap mind games. Hussein Dey must fall. Use speed and altitude to your advantage – Zamalek must remain down there.
I am not surprised with this from Oliech, I expected him to strike even earlier than this considering our financial issues, and I tell the guy will be a bad influence to the team, just wait and see, that’s my opinion anyway
I gave a comment when this guy Oliech was signed that I have reservations about him and now we can see what he’s doing instead of trying to work hard to regain his match fitness he’s working hard to regain his lost millions from an ever broke club like Gor. I believe we are yet to see more otherwise I have high hope we’ll carry the day tomorow
Paybill could have been a very good idea but accountability my concern, I cant stand contributing and the money does not help the players
Phew! This is Gor Mahia
Kerr admitted that he had no contract with Gor so on what basis does he claim to be paid?
On Oliech saga as much as he has the experience footy also requires fitness which he doesn’t have currently. He should be humble and thank Gor for giving him the chance. were he to go to Mathare or Sofapaka the revs he is getting now would be nowhere. He should also know that once the Gor fans get your bad side then you will be as good as gone

Jamriambo iwinja omera
I would have loved not to talk about Oliech but I can say that we could have retained meddy kagere and pay the salary earmarked for Oliech than sign Oliech who even kipkirui is better than. Awacho ayueyo
