Michael Olunga continued his prolific scoring form for the national team on Wednesday when he scored the equalizing goal as Kenya’s Harambee Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Burundi. It was Olunga’s 4th goal in 5 games for Harambee Stars, having scored against Zambia, Cape Verde and Uganda.

Burundi were featuring Gor Mahia ace full back Karim Nizigiyimana as well as Fuadi Ndayisenga of Sofapaka.

Nizigiyimana man-marked club mate Olunga, denying him in the space to operate in the box as soon as proceedings got underway in a packed stadium where home fans were waiting for the Walia Ibex were to take on Somalia in the second game of the day.

The Burundians sparked into life when Ndayisenga dribbled past skipper, David Ochieng, on the left to cut in to Tambwe who tapped the ball past keeper Boniface Oluoch to force the champions chase the game.

Finland based winger, Clifton Miheso then headed wide from Omar Mbongi’s delivery before seeing his cross intercepted.

Stars mounted more pressure on the Burundians and got the equaliser when Miheso delivered a deep ball into the area for Jacob Keli, who scored the opener in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Uganda, who knocked it down for Olunga.

The K’Ogalo forward notched his 37th goal of a memorable year when he brushed past David’s Nshimirimana with a clever dummy before smashing past Arthur Arakaza with a low right foot shot for his second of the tournament.

Williamson rang the changes in the second half; introducing Christian Bwamy in midfield for K’Ogalo’s Collins Okoth to seek the advantage.

For all his scoring prowess, Olunga and Miheso combined to spurn the opportunities that fell their way with the lanky forward first forcing Arakaza to dive and parry away his long range thunderbolt as Mbongi recovered swiftly on the other hand to block Tabwe’s strike in the box when Burundi attacked the other end.

Azam FC forward, Allan Wanga came in for the ineffectual Keli as the Scotsman sought more bite upfront as the half drew to a close.

Miheso them cut in for Bwamy who saw his shot blocked but it was Mathare United’s Eric Johanna who could have been the hero when he shinned Didier Kavumbavu to unleash a ferocious low shot but Arakaza but blocked with his legs for a fruitless corner at the near post.

Imagine you hear n read someone calling himself a gor fan posting that if gormahia players want to leave they can go coz they will get other replacement who will fit their shoes
These are the kind of arrogance behaviours that has let gor not to do well in CAF. Keep on changing squad every season mark u this players are not asking much but improved offers that can at least give them motivation. CAF is not Gotv or SPortspesa premier league . In CAF you meet athletic players.experienced players. Fit players n motivated minds. So u cant just go to kpl n fkf n collect or pick players then you present them to CAF to compete you will be shocked to soak goals. even just analyse the ongoing cecafa in Ethiopia n u will see that our players Hs most of them are down. So my rallying call wherever u see these players of gor please ask them to stay n play 2016. N they should b careful with their agents not to mislead them .just look at how the mismanaged Rama n sserenkuma cheating them that they will take them to Europe only landing in countries whose pay or offers n standard are pathetic
We need all these players n their experience can assist in making headway in CAF.

If gor office can open branches in kisii.nyamira.migori.siaya.Kisumu.homabay.nairobi.mombasa.nakuru.kericho.narok.kajiado with purposes of this branches raising funds me don’t see why each branch will not raise 1m each to finance renewals of contracts of these players. N at least each branch might raise ksh 200,000 every month to pay salaries. Why cant gor office be proactive n move with speed before things get out of hand

This is a useless office that will never do anything to help the club apart from begging spree which is their trade mark. They have never learnt anything about planning in advance. EC has really failed fans in helping in the team.

EC is a useless office? if it was I can assure you that you would not waste your time blogging on Gor. What I know is that running a team like Gor for a whole season is very difficult. All the same there are things the EC can improve on and so is the other functions of the club e.g fans
@Jamigori, can you take the lead and spearhead an initiative to reward the players and TB for a job well-done?. Surely this will not need the approval or involvement of the EC

It really baffles to hear most of us fans criticizing EC negatively.Criticism is good but let them be positive ones.Managing & running a community club with no sponsors is no child’s play.Solutions are not found by bad-mouthing those in office.Let’s engage them soberly & constructively because the club belongs to all of us whether in office or not & I believe nobody wants its downfall. It is only the ideological approaches to its running that differ depending on individuals at the helm.

  • MY FELLOW BLOGGERS, THE THING IS THAT ” THE EC SHOULD TRY AS MUCH AS THEY CAN TO MAINTAIN THE PRESENT SQUADE” BUT TELLING THEM THAT ” THERE ARE PLAYERS WHO CAN FILL THEIR POSITION IS A BIG JOKE” I HAVE SEEN MASTER OLUNGA MIKE PARTNERRING VERY WELL WITH CLIFORD MIHESHO, SUCH LIKE PLAYERS EC CAN FOLLOWED AND MAKE HIM JOIN GOR MAHIA. ALL THE FOUR GOALS OLUNGA HAS SCORED FOR HARAMBEE STARS IS A CROSS FROM MIHESHO.SINCE WHEN DID A CAPTAIN HAS DECIDED ON APLAYER CONTRACT? IT’S AT GOR MAHIA WHERE YOU HEAR THAT ONYANGO DOESN’T WANT CONTRACT OF WALUSIMBI TO BE RENEWED HONESTLY. DR. RACHIER SHOULD ASIGN ONE PERSON TO DO RECRUITMENT FOR THE CLUB? NOR EVERY BODY IS TAKING MONEY FROM OTHER PLAYERS THAT THEY WILL MAKE THEM JOIN GOR MAHIA. NO WAY, THAT’S WHY YOU HEAR SOME PEOPLE WANT THE PLAYERS GOR HAS AT THE MOMENT TO LEAVE SO THAT THEY BOUGHT THEIRS TO MILK SUCH PLAYERS IN FUTURE. NO NO NO.
