Polack: It is not yet over
Gor Mahia coach Steve Polack says his side is not giving up on beating USM Alger. Kogalo would require a 3-0 win against the well organized Algerian side
“It’s not yet over. It can be done, it has been done before in football,” Polack told Nation Sport
Polack noted that Kogalo are in rebuilding mode and lacked the experience needed at this level.
“We lost to USM Alger not because we were a poor team but due to little mistakes and loss of concentration. We had 16 players but only one or two have the experience of playing in continental and competitive matches. I don’t want to blame any player or management but I take responsibility for the defeat,” noted Polack.
It will require attacking football against a well organized Algerian side who are likely to sit back and absorb the pressure while waiting for an opportunity to counterattack.
“We have put the defeat behind us. Gor Mahia will no longer play defensive football but we will be attacking because we need to score goals. We have nothing to lose since we still harbour hopes of eliminating USM Alger. It is not time for blame games but fixing one or two areas,” continued Polack.
I like the determination, a very positive attitude. Let’s go for it, it’s never over until it’s over. But we must have proper focused preparation leading to that match.
So now where are the Ghanaian and the Ivorian? Just wondering, is it possible that we squandered two foreign on useless gaffers?
Ooh mara limping Gor Mahia sneaks back, mara Gor Mahia staring at elimination, mara Gor Mahia has one foot out of CAFCL. These deragatory descriptions should be silenced at Kasarani and I strongly believe we have the wherewithall to do it. Tunayo kazi moja tu, tunayo kazi moja.
I’m very proud of you Mr.Polack, I like how you handle the media and taking full responsibility even if you shouldn’t. I know it’s possible to finish the job at Kasarani. I will be there to duty as a fan.
God bless K’ogalo
Please ‘fans’ I have a suggestion…before you blog first register as a member, pay your membership, contribute to 350100 and then…ONLY THEN, can you start whining about this and that and his your money is being wrongly spent.
As it is we don’t even know if we shall honour the 2nd leg of CAF and the subsequwnt matches, so please play your part now…YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU !
A few weeks ago a member of this site advised the site administration to reprogram and create a mandatory field for a blogger’s Gor Mahia membership number. One’s comment can be admitted once he or she has duly filled the three mandatory fields. To ensure no one fills in a “Chinese” number, the site administration should install a software capable of differentiating a genuine Gor Mahia membership number from a Chinese one.
Sadly, the site administration never bothered to expedite, but instead opined that Gor Mahia’s replica Jersey is damn too expensive.
@Barefoot Bandit
You have to be realistic. When the club sells jerseys for Ksh 5000, nobody is buying.
The club would make a lot more money if they just made cheaper jerseys and sold for Ksh 1000
With regard to membership number, a person can just type in a number that looks genuine. So you will still not be able to ascertain who is a real member and who is not.
@Jatingare please allow me to quote you sir, “a person can just type in a number that looks genuine”. You are absolutely right and that is what I meant when I talked of a “Chinese” number. Then I went further and suggested that a software that is in sync with the K’Ogalo members roll should be installed in order to reject any fake membership numbers and as such that comment will not see the light of day in this site. I think I have looked at all sides and therefore being ‘realistic’ already.
I don’t dispute the fact that Gor Mahia’s replica jersey are priced so highly. It is a fact. The point I was trying to drive home is that Gor Mahia membership registration is an urgent and weighty matter and any suggestion to encourage it should be acted on by our blogsite managers instead of being brushed aside and glossed with lamentation that “if Gor Mahia wants to make money, then the EC should sell the replica jerseys cheaply”. By the way, is it not more to Gor Mahia’s economical benefit to have more registered members than more buyers of cheap replica jerseys? Which of the two has more long term benefits to tha club?
All things are possible if we believe. Keep up the will to fight as we peay for the best.
@Jakoyo requesting for contributions must be accompanied by accountability of the funds contributed to the club by the EC. Already ADOR cannot account for 511,000 from the Kisumu game but sensationally claims he/club received only 112,000.
Where did the 399,000 dissappear to?
Who took the 399,000 or on what was it spent?
With e-ticketing there are no stewards to steal the money, there is no physical exchange of cash as funds go directly to GM or service providers’ bank account.
Even Uhuru, Sonko etc by pass EC by calling players aside to give them their contribution/reward direct, Gov’t buys actual air tickets as it cannot risk giving EC cash.
It’s seems for every contribution EC gets 80% “disappears” and only 20% reaches the players/club. The only action ADOR ever takes is to shed crocodile tears.
As for Pollack he should target,as his fall back plan, the CCC group stages as a minimum. As much as I empathize with him as to the shoddy travelling arrangements the level of defeat was shocking but its too early to judge him yet.
@Oduor12, did you read the statement on the breakdown of the kisumu collections? For you confirmation you have to pay for security, stadium hire, the ticket agents, even a perc3ntage of the gate collections etc. That leaves the team with peanuts, especially if the collection was only 500k. Even Shikanda of ingwe is crying about the same thing. Fans want to get in free and the stewards need the 50 bob
Some of you people always think that players always walk to the stadium, play hungry, in a free stadium and then walk back to Nairobi. Rachier said very well that he used almost 600000/- to prepare the team, travel to kisumu and back to Nairobi and also paid for the stadium. Now if you deduct the expenses and he says that what remains is 112000, how can again a mere blogger who is not even a registered member ask where the money went. Let’s be realistic
I thought there was accounting for the Kisumu takings unless someone did not see. Then 4-1 defeat is not out of this world, last season we did a 4-2 on Zamalek and Simba were done 4-0 by Al Ahly, Sundowns did same to Al Ahly, we just did 5-1 on some Aigle Noir, so there is nothing shocking
Kindly provide link for the account of the Kisumu takings because in the previous article ADOR himself complains that those assisting fans with e-ticketing are diverting money into their own accounts. How unless e-ticketing team has already set up a parallel system. But the bottom with e-ticketing there is a paper trail, so why doesn’t he prosecute the thieves?
ADOR is not blaming the E-ticketing. His beef is the stadium was full to capacity and only 500K was raised. Meaning a few bought the tickets. Majority paid the stewards 50 bob to watch the match. The breakdown you are asking has been trending on soso media. Ask somebody to forward to you. I want to believe that ADOR and by extension EC are trying but fans are letting them down.
We yap too much about money. We don’t even bother to find out how much it costs to run a club like Gor Mahia per month. Who is paying Pallock? People like ADOR are sacrificing for this club but its unfortunate that some of us think otherwise. There is no money for EC to steal in Gor Mahia. That one I can repeat again. Gor odhier onge pesa ma inyalo kual. Instead well wisher and selfless people like ADOR are the ones pumping in their money there. If any one thinks it is easy, then you try and be the chairman of Gor Mahia.
Amor, Piny Mor, Polo bende Mor. For God and my beloved club Kogallo.
e-registration is the way to go. Not everybody interested in registering resides within Kenya’s major towns. Some interested members stay abroad while some are in remote parts of this country. The only way to net this group of people is e-registration.
Lastly, alot of unsubstantiated accusations having being flying in this forum which would only serve to discourage whoever is interested in supporting the team financially.
Thanks guys I have managed to get the “accounting” for the Kisumu game gate collections, from futaa.com, and would like to review my position and make the following observations:
1. E-ticketing is the way to go since all the money received from e-ticket sales (511,000) went directly into GM’s bank account and the payments for the various expenses made after EC/ADOR verified and approved them. This time not as direct deductions so EC cannot feign ignorance about the payments made but was there VALUE FOR MONEY FOR THE SECURITY PAYMENTS.
2. If EC/ADOR was dissatisfied about the large number of fans who entered the stadium without paying the correct amount why did he approve payment of 39,000 Kisumu bouncers, 25,000 stewards, 5,000 county askaris, 30,000 police. Note that with e-ticketing these payments can only be made LATER unless EC paid them upfront or carried separate funds/cash to pay them.
3. There problem of corruption at the gate be it in NBI,KSM etc will not be solved by e-ticketing as EC is willing to pay the security providers for “stealing” instead of doing their jobs. It has been this way for most of ADOR’s tenure so why shed crocodile tears.
4. Why are the stewards untouchables, we all know it’s because they are upgraded to voters come election time.
Solution e-registration and VOTING. Nyanza is the bedrock of GM but is disenfranchised when voting is done in Nairobi. Many GM supporters outside NBI suffer the same fate.
Your point No.3 is very notable and clear but many would rather hallucinate on non-issues. The issue of corruption is the what is eating Gor. It will never be tackled by building a stadium, not 350100 nor sacco. So E-ticketing has come yet MONEY IS STILL BEING STOLEN. Will a Gor stadium end these problems… NO. So how did ‘illegal bouncers’ position themselves at the gates to take money in an event OWNED by Gor Mahia. What would stop these so called illegal bouncers from laying claim to the Gor stadia in future, or controlling the stadia shops or even building their ‘extensions’ inside the stadia. Is this when the Gor EC shall wake up.
Rachier pls take a look on the mirror.
OPEN LETTER TO ADOR
Dear Sir,
I would like to humbly suggest following solution(s) to so called corruption at the gates during GM matches by EC employees aka stewards etc.
1. The lawyer in you knows or ought to know that this is 100% theft by employee that is unless fans gate crush.
2. The stewards, bouncers etc are employees of the EC/club and must sign contracts which clearly stipulate the consequences and punitive measures that will be taken, and must be taken, for stealing from the club by allowing unticketed or fake ticketed entry into GM matches. Each contract should warn the stewards etc that they are being constantly monitored. Remember EC is paying for these services. Any culpable employee can easily be traced and prosecuted later.
Note all employees must provide a recent photo to be attached to the contract.
3. Engage EACC/DCI or even reputable private security firms like G4S to do the monitoring on the stewards/gates. They should restrict themselves to monitoring and collecting solid photographic evidence of any fraud by cameras (phones). Note that this fraud is carried out is broad daylight so collecting evidence is easy. It up to you to act on the evidence presented to you.
With e-ticketing you will be able to guage whether tickets sold/bankings match the attendance. This will ensure that the monitors and EC employees aka stewards do not collude.
So long as EC engages reputable monitors you will get correct feedback or reports that EC can verify
4. Cost benefit analysis. Depending on the entry points rarely will EC need more than 10 officers to do the monitoring but the numbers of fraudulent entries will greatly reduce.
So it’s contracts, independent monitoring and prompt punitive action as stipulated in the contract.
Interestingly how come we rarely hear of our competitors complaining about gate collections during our away matches yet its GM fans who largely attend these games too.
As they say the ball is now in your court!
The issue of corruption is easier give the job to G4s and remove the so called Gor stewards from all the gates , it would be easier to hold G4s accountable than our stewards.i saw it in kasarani we have many stewards at the gate plus the e ticketing personnel it showed clearly wait will follow, E tickecting is the best way but look for a better and faster way of verifying tickets and outsource peoplel to man gates let stewards do other work inside the stadium
