Presidents cup starts this weekend

As the world cup reaches its penultimate stages, the Presidents cup will kick off this weekend with a series of first round matches. Unlike in the past two years when most KPL sides decided to give it a miss, there is a full house this time with almost all KPL sides starting their campaign this weekend.

Gor Mahia boasting 5 new signings will start at the Afraha stadium with a tough match against KPL side Red Berets. Should they win, they will face the winner of the match pitting Sher and Magongo FC.

  • It was another sad week-end again. I cannot imagine that Gor Mahia lost the game that we should have won to Red Beret in the president cup. Why should technical bench continue to experiment in such an equally important competition? There is nowhere in the world where a coach can decide to keep best team players in the bench and start new players whom I think need some time to blend with the other players. Technical bench members (Zico and Ole Tunda) are again messing up with the team performance and it is high time they should know that there is no way for club to succeed if they are still continue to label or cluster players to be sympathizers to the former coach Gideon Ochieng. From some reliable sources, the two technical team members are determined to divide the team. Zico need to unite players rather than dividing the team. From such uncalled for behavior, there is no way Gor Mahia is going to win KPL if Zico and his buddy are dividing the team. Zico as the Head Coach should be the figure head and a unifying factor. He needs to appreciate that without team work, Gor is going nowhere. He needs to bring players together but not dividing the team and clustering of classifying players to be supporters of so and so. This must be stopped forthwith and if he cannot work together with the players, he should just call it a quit. I suggest Zablon and Awilo should take over from Zico and Ole Tunda as acting team coaches.

  • I agree with Paul. When I saw the line up I was rather perplexed. It looked like a line up for a friendly. This was Kogalo’s only chance to play continental next year.

We have started July on a sad note. The office should read the riot act of the fans and act swiftly before things get worse. Paul, Omosh, Joe and the rest let’s look into the root cause of the players ‘riot’. They play well and as usual no goals. Manze utamu wa boli ni mabao!!!

  • Oti, the main problem in Gor Mahia is the technical bench. The bench still believes that there is a shadow of Gideon Ochieng haunting the team and this is why we lost the easy match to Red Berets. Zico and Ole Dunda are taking Gor Mahia nowhere with this divisive mentality and attitude. The 1st eleven team members were either benched or missing from the starting lineup because Zico and Ole Dunda have branded these players as Gideon’s sympathizers. Unless there is unity of purpose, we are going nowhere with this inept technical bench. Ole Dunda’s job has been gossiping about players and officials. What a big joke?

Paul, I agree with you but not in total. The main issue is Ole Tunda. Immediately he came in Zico and Agido fell apart. He is making heads collide on and off the pitch both to officials, technical bench, players and fans. Another thing Zico should be a unifying factor to the young talented players and he should forget about Gideons shadow and deliver what he signed for.

We fans are also a problem, we tend to agree with what the gossips from the bench and the so called ‘training yuthe’ those who attend training daily. I once said the fans, officials and technical bench need a brain storming session to iron out these differences but the office did not take my ideas because they usually don’t go through this page and pick some good points from it. To the office, this website was not created for fun but for us fans who can not reach your offices to give you ideas which you can pick and use to manage the club. Since getting into office, the chair has not given us his Strategic Plan. I suggest that Ole Tunda to go first then have a foreign person to handle the technical bench or bring back Romano Diego even Ghost Mulei to bring direction and focus to the team.

  • Fans need to be banned from attending training sessions. What business are the fans doing during training sessions? Look at the European clubs for example; they may only have a weekly open training session with fans in full attendance. Zico and Ole Dunda have become stumbling blocks to the club in winning crucial non-home matches and moving the club to a different level. The unity of players is paramount for the success of the team and it is upon Zico to bring such unity and to act as a unifying factor for the overall performance of the club.

In fostering unity, there is even a need to engage the services of PSYCHIATRISTS because winning games is on the mind. Strong mentality always drives players to unleash the potential within their scope to win games. Winning is always in the mind. As the second leg KPL league will be starting this weekend, I propose that the officials should engage the services of Psychiatrist to psyche players like Blackberry, Ngwa, Owiti, Opiyo, Akumu, Kitawi, Kevin, Kiplagat, Makori etc that they can score many goals. These boys are a joy to watch and they can win any games with the right set of mind.

I think Gor Mahia have some of the best players in KPL league.

On the gossips, I can assure you that all gossips originate from the officials and technical team members who keep on leaking the information to the fans. Officials need to sign code of secrecy in order for all official and non official information to be kept in secret.

We have made some proposals for the official to consider in running the club but it seems they are not ready for positive criticisms. When will they involve some fans’ opinions in running the club. We are even willing to come up with motivational tools but no official have attempted to follow up with fans or engage the fans on this site.
