Gor Mahia has confirmed that indeed there has been interest expressed by Qatari Division 2 side Al – Markhiya to sign Kenyan international Rama Salim.

Speaking to futaa.com, the club’s vice chairman Faiz Ochieng noted that the club inquired for the forward’s services and in the preliminary talks, the club offered to get him for one million shillings, which the Tusker Premier League (TPL) side rejected.

Upped offer

The Qatari club then upped their offer to two million shillings but as Faiz puts it, nothing is signed and the club’s officials are supposed to land in Nairobi for talks either today (Tuesday 30 July) or tomorrow, after missing a flight on Monday 29 July.

He said, contrary to speculations that Rama has already left, the former Congo United star is still in the country and added that if the deal proves to be fine for both parties he will be allowed to leave with the club’s blessings.

Confirmation

-It is true that Al – MarkhiyaSports Club, a Division 2 League side from Qatar has inquired about Rama. They initially offered us a million but we felt Rama’s valuation is way past that and they thus increased it to two million.

-However, nothing is signed with them and Rama has not yet left to join the club. The club’s representatives are supposed to come over today or tomorrow for detailed talks. They were supposed to come Monday but they missed a flight.

Open deal

-This is an open deal and contrary to speculation we are not hiding anything. Everything will be done in the open for the good of the club, fans and everyone involved. If the deal is right we will grant him our blessings, he told futaa.com.

Rama is currently Gor Mahia’s top scorer with five goals and has been instrumental in the team’s rise to the top of the league.

I wish Rama Salim all the best. If it were possible he could have stayed for one more year to cement his position in the National team before he can think of moving lest he ‘disppears’ as a result of premature deals in the middle East. However, these are just my views/opinion, another person could have a different approach to this…

How I wish Rama Salim could wait and win the Tpl with K’ogalo to be among K’ogalo players to have won the major title. He has worked very hard 4r this club to bring it to where it belongs. Now that K’ogalo is in the right state to win the league & he is leaving. If i could be Ramas advicer, I would advice him to Win a domestic title first with the K’ogalo and move to whichever club he chooses. If he leaves & Gor ended up winning the title , he will not count himself to have won the league with K’ogalo.

  • Though i wish Rama well, I really feel let down by this bloated “executive community”. We have 14 officials running the club like a kiosk, nay a bro**l.
    1. We have countless players who are signed with injuries or out of shape who then waste the club resources being rehabilitated e.g Rodriguez,Oboya,GK Onyango etc.
    2. Also key players leave mid-season. Don’t officials synchronize key players’ contracts with duration of the league. Officials don’t even know their whereabouts e.g ati Rama is sick

Rama Salim is worth much more than 2 million KES. For a player who is yet to reach his prime, why is EC willing to sell him at a throw away price?

3.Top players attend prolonged trials @ GMFC only not to be signed and they move to opposing teams after learning our tactics e.g Santos & O.Monday
This lack of structures and disruptions may cost us the league. Also this outburst from Faiz has too many contridictions and seems suspicious/malicious.
LETS NOT RISK THE CLUB TO UNKNOWNS AGAIN VOTE TEAMS LEGENDS E.G OBWAKA,LULE,SIANGA,MAKAMU ETC IN A LEAN EC COME NEXT ELECTIONS.
EC MAKE ELECTION DATE & RULES PUBLIC NOW.

  • Mr. Faiz outburst in the media do not help. This is why our opponents beats us easily when it comes to chasing a player’s signature. We should not seem to be holding on players when they get opportunities to play abroad. The agent talked to the Chairman.Did Faiz talked to his chairman before making such outburst? How if the Chairman had given him a go ahead? If he fails in his trials and come back will have moral to play for our club?

As someone has said gor needs a spokesman. Whoever gets a chance to hear Faiz talk on radio really feels ashamed to be associated with him. Imagine I heard him say that the match betweem gor and Bandari in Msa was KDF (Kogalo Defence Forces) Vs MRC. That was in bad taste. He also asked police to provide extra forces when gor is playing away to protect the fans. I believe the protection should be for all Kenyans Gor included. On the Muthurwa saga instead of looking at both sides of the coin he was fixated by hawkers being at fault yet we know very well that our fans are not innocent of the whole saga. On the same Muthurwa he came out with the issue of a fan having been killed yet police refuted ever receiving such a report.
My concern is that we hace a lot of PR pros who support gor yet our ‘Muthui Kariuki’ aka Faiz is messing the whole show. Some of these pros can even volunteer their services to assist gor.
Let me wish the team success today. We have not been losing and let’s not start today. K14, Paul Odhiambo and the rest this is your chance to shine
