Gor Mahia on revenge mission against Tusker

Abondo to play his former team

When Gor Mahia take on Tusker in the KPL top 8 semi-finals on Sunday October 18, , they will have three issues on their mind

  1. Maintaining the unbeaten run
  2. Maintaining momentum towards a fourth title in 2015
  3. Earning revenge

It was Tusker who eliminated Gor Mahia at the same stage during the 2014 KPL Top 8. Tusker beat Gor Mahia 1-0 in Meru before drawing 1-1  in the return leg with Gor Mahia’s goal coming via Rama Salim.

Tusker will also be buoyed by their 4-2 win over AFC Leopards. But against Gor Mahia they will be facing a team that is vastly different. This Gor Mahia team is much stronger than the edition Tusker faced in 2014. And unlike AFC Leopards, Tusker will find that Gor Mahia are no pushovers as coach Kimanzi of Tusker has admitted

“This will be very tough tie; a final before the actual final and we will be looking to prepare well for it. Gor Mahia have had a great run in the year, winning the league title and doing well at the Cecafa while we have been doing well in the cup competitions so this is a game to look forward to.”

“This is a knockout tournament pitting the best eight finishers and you cannot choose which opponent to face so we will be ready for Gor Mahia,” he said to supersport.com

Gor Mahia has shown that despite winning the league with several matches in hand, the players are not resting on their laurels. They want the accomplishment of an unbeaten season and they are each still eager to prove their worth. A classic example of this is Ernest Wendo who has not featured much in the starting line-up. But when he got his chance on Sunday against Muhoroni, he acquited himself well as did George Odhiambo “Blackberry” when he came on in the 82nd minute. Both played well against Muhoroni Youth on Sunday and both will be eager to showcase their talents in the semi-finals.

Should Gor Mahia beat Tusker, they will proceed to the final to play the winner of the matchup between Sofapaka and SoNu Sugar. The final will be on November 1 with winner collecting Ksh 1 million.

Let the boys remain focused and I don’t see why we shouldn’t win this match! It s ours to loose.

Tusker with all the ex-national team players on their payroll have the potential to stop Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run….Infact other than Azam, I see Tusker , El Mereikh and Aal Hilal as the biggest threat to the East Africa region.

This shud be a good match unless Kimanzi decides to join the ‘ref ni mbaya’ theatrics. Tusker shud just come and play good football and not behave like Ulinzi-Ushuru axis. If you can beat Gor with clean soccer then that would put you on a different platform than the Kenyatta-Matano types. But Kimanzi has also been known to employ the same Matano tactics in his matches against Gor of yesteryears. I’m sure that even though Leopards complained bitterly about the ref on their game against Tusker, Kimanzi had no problem with the ref simply coz his team won.

As a result of the goons who interrupted the Gor Youth game on sunday the senior team was denied a chance to train on Tuesday at camp toyoyo. How I wish these goons know the much damage they do to the gor brand.
Looks like our game with Western Stima is on Thursday at 7pm Nyayo and not Sunday as was previously planned

@Dan Original, those were just very minor and trivial issue’s for the management of Camp Toyoyo to subject the senior team to. Those who attended the match will oblige that apart from the artificial turf playing surface at camp toyoyo; the place can not host explosive matches involving Gor Junior cause of its big fan base being drawn from the senior team. That is fact that should not be ignored in future.

Anyway the issue’s were sorted out and the senior was able to proceeded with their training, but next time let FKF- NAIROBI branch understand that final matches involving the GOR MAHIA youth team should be hosted in a stadium where perimeter walls provides safety for players and match officials.

All the best. I saw the match with AFC which was no match and Tuskers score line looked good. So Kogalo should inflict pain on them.

my only worry is next year. I would like to ask several questions
will we be victims of our own success? will the executive of Gor see three trophies in a raw as the height of their leadership and do less.

with no real challenge, will Gor Mahia tech bench find no new players to replace the bench warmers. I see Jerry not leaving the bench anytime soon. What should we do?. should he be in the team? I see Erick Ochieng, Ali Abondo and blackberry in the same light. Can this league produce able replacement?

We need new blood to learn from the experienced players AND where are they?

As early as next year Gor could start struggling……..

why can’t gor mahia devolve to grassroots . Gormahia can get a land in oyugis town maybe at cost of 3m and construct a bleacher stadium since they can get sand n ballast from the local area than trying to think of investing in a stadium in nairobi which is expensive and a useless place to be

why postpone Gor/Stims match if Nairobi is unwilling to host the match? bring it to Kisumu, we are ever ready…Stima has no problems with that. Ngala are you listening?

Well said, hi site bado hiko juu tu sana in terms of providing solutions and foresight.
@Omondi Mighty Gor Mahia winning is a joy for you and me but very expensive to the EC but EC has somewhat/somehow coped this season. I think its thanks to Nutall but to me players and coaches must be paid on time. Period.
Greetigs to all from Kampara to Mombasa

Keroche deal temporarily stalled coz of the issues Keroche has with KRA about taxes.deal was about to materialize but seems politics always in play whenever Gor is concerned.

Tuzo,i dont think so.Uhuru sent Rachier to Vivo shell but deal never materialized.Seems we will have to wait longer for sponsorship.
