Solitary goal sinks Kogalo

In a match that was played only two days after the FKL cup match against Kapenguria heroes, Gor Mahia were sunk 1-0 by SoNy Sugar. It was SoNy Sugat who started the game brighter. The goal that sunk Kogalo came in the 48th minute via Hugo Nzangu.

It was the same old story of Gor Mahia creating chances but failing to convert. Yet again Gor Mahia resorted to long passes which Edwin Lavatsa could not utilize. The introduction of Moses Odhiambo, Edwin Makori and Demonde Selenga in the second half did not pay dividends as Gor Mahia could not

Gor Mahia are now still in second place but the gap between them and leaders Tusker is set to widen. Tusker are now 5 points ahead of Kogalo. Its worth noting that Gor Mahia have hardly scored any goals against other premier league teams since they beat AFC.

Lets wait and hear from the coach what happened in Awendo. There is no excuse that they played 2 days ago. Awin is awin whether it is a 1 or 2 goals.

That was bad day in office. We have given ourselves a difficult task of dislodging Tusker from the top position especially now that they sit five points above us.Somehing needs to be done before things turn awry.

Let truth be told, our coach has failed us first of all he has divided his attention between GM and Harambee, his fielding is suspect he has one of the best squads any coach would wish for, the fans support and the club has never been so financially stable until now……I just don’t know what we could do to help the coach and the players to bring good results. Sincerely we need continental football and at this rate we are headed nowhere, God Help us!

this squad needs Siang’a like yesterday.the technical dept is everything to a winning outfit.we have good players but lack a strategy which can lead to GOALS GALORE.if we can’t act soon then forget continental soccer.

  • Apart from Ochomo and Akumu we actually fielded a strong team yesterday but as usual finishing is still the biggest problem. We continously miss open chances that we should put away. We have some of the best players currently but looks like only the defense is delivering. Something needs to be done on that. If we do serious soul-searching I believe we can still catch up with Tusker since they equally have some tough matches at Thika, Karaturi, Sofapaka and Ulinzi but this will mean that we also have to up our game. All I can ask is for us to give total support to the team as I believe it is too late in the day to gamble with the team. After all we are not as badly off as we are made to think though our performance is still way below our potential.

ALL IS NOT UNTIL IT IS OVER.

We still stand that little chance of taking this league down to the wire and even clinch the title if only we can replicate our performance against AFC consistently.

“A LOSS IS A WAKE UP CALL TO KOGALO THAN A DRAW WHICH MAKES THE TECHNICAL BENCH & PLAYERS BECOME MEDIOCRITY”.

@Albert Kosero (Sofaset Branch – Kampala) you are one of the “GREEN ARMY ” soldiers on this blog that will always draw positive and optimistic analysis in all our matches be it good or bad result as a real sportsman. “WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON THIS?. I THINK WE CAN NOT RETREAT OR SURRENDER BUT JUST SOLDIER ON.
Albert Please PROVIDE US WITH A POST MATCH ANALYSIS AS AN EYE WITNESS TO THOSE WE DID NOT MAKE IT TO AWENDO GREEN STADIUM.

Albert last time we communicated on this blog was yesterday at around mid-day while you were at KANGA high school heading to AWENDO GREEN STADIUM.

I could not make it to AWENDO due to the fact that i was on duty.

Although i was being briefed of the match progress via cellphone periodically i am yet to swallow what i heard since the communication was from SONY supporters.

IS IT TRUE THAT OUR STRIKER WERE FIRING BLANK AND OFF TARGET SHOTS WHILE WITH THE GOAL WAS AT THERE MERCY?

“Thank GOD all first leg matches involving “GOR-MAHIA” with the so claimed a game at hand is over; we can now concentrate with “MAHIA / GOR MA HONO” on our remaining second leg fixtures miracrously”.

  • That’s football. Of the nine games left, we will also loose to Bandari in Mombasa. We need to secure all Nairobi points and we will win the league. The other option is to start rebuilding for next season. With the kind of noise in the boardrooms, i think Gor needs to start rebuilding the technical bench now coz i don’t see football elections happening and FIFA will ban Kenya and therefore no continental games. Our game aginst AFC has again been moved to October 2nd and will be moved again the last week. KPL said they did not recognize our match with Kapenguria and therefor the worst may happen soon when two games will be slotted for the same date. The officials need to start acting like they are serious.

GOR WAS BEATEN STRAIGHT AND SQUARE.

The writer should stop sounding sympathetic by expressing that we were beaten by a solitary goal. I have not heard anywhere why football is won by half a goal or one and a half.

A GOAL DOWN IS A LOSS AND HENCE NO POINT GAINED PERIOD.

I am happy that “ZICO” has at long last reluctantly admitted that it was one of the bad days in “OFFICE” and this is where now the reckless draws matches will come in handy and start haunting “GOR” followers.

I HAVE RESIGNED TO WAIT FOR THE BEST TOP FOUR FINISH POSITION FOR KO-GALO IN 2011 KPL AS WE AWAIT FOR THOROUGH SURGERY IN BOTH THE OFFICIALS AND TECHNICAL BENCH AT THE END OF THE SEASON.

Fans are outraged and if you want to prove just browse gorfc.com and read for your self. Our commitment and morale is not being rewarded accordingly and as such there is a lot despair, anger and the feeling of lost of leadership and focus.

I beg to pen off since SOOCER is a game of passion.

I don’t understand K’galo management. Honestly I thought we fielded a 2nd string side against Kapenguria so that we could thoroughly prepare for the Awendo game. Preparation means traveling early enough. We beat Kapenguria(of course a very weak side but you could see tactical weaknesses on our side) but lost to Sony. Its all plain and simple tactically we are below par that why some coaches like those of City Stars and Sony know for certain how to defeat Zico’s squad can’t refer to it as Gor Mahia anymore. Let the office recruit a competent new coach now, there’s absolutely nothing to loose.Kosero give us a proper analysis. Ua comment are just too general more like from someone who didn’t attend the game.

1)THE BEST FOOTBALL DISPLAYED BY BARCA AT THE MOMENT IS DUE TO THE INPUT OF JOHAN CRUYFF,A DUTCHMAN WHO INTRODUCED THEM TO THE AJAX SYSTEM OF PLAY.THATS THE FOREIGN ELEMENT IN MODERN FOOTBALL
2)A TEAM WITHOUT A SOLID FOUNDATION CAN NEVER SUSTAIN SUCCESS.WITHOUT A YOUTH TEAM AND A FEEDER SYSTEM TO THE MAIN TEAM THEN WE BETTER GET USED TO MEDIOCRE PERFOMANCE.
3)THE SYCOPHANCY EMPLOYED BY A SECTION OF SOME FANS E.G SOFASET BRANCH IS MYOPIC AND ONLY MASKS THE GLARING INEFFICIENCIES IN THE CLUB.
4)BLIND LOYALTY IS DANGEROUS .FOOTBALL CHANGED AND WE HAVE TO EMBRACE MODERN TECHNIQUES TO MOVE TO THE NEXT LEVEL.THIS INCLUDES A TEAM MANAGER WHO ORGANIZES ALL THE LOGISTICS TO ENSURE THE CLUB IS NOT CAUGHT OFFGUARD BY ANY ABRUPT CHANGE IN PROGRAMME.
WE WISH ZEDDY ALL THE BEST AGAINST GUINEA BISSAU AND PRAY THAT HE JUST STICKS WITH HARAMBEE STARS WHERE HE CAN COMMEND HIS TEAM FOR DRAWING AT HOME AND LOSING AWAY.

Why should we have a very worrying away record and yet it is business as usual?

When I saw Albert Kosero’s statement that this loss was OK because it reduces pressure on the team I realized what I have suspected all along.

    1. He may very well be an AFC supporter doing his utmost to sabotage Kogalo
    2. He is a lonely attention seeker who just likes to wind up Kogalo supporters.

I realize this because no Kogalo fan can say a loss is OK when we are chasing the league title.
In any case we the true Kogalo fans must react and take matters into our own hands.

  • As much as our game is not up to scratch and the technical bench (and maybe the management) is partially to blame our only aim now is to fight for KPL honours. Personally I still think we have a chance though it dependes on how other teams perform as well as our improved performance. Isn’t a critical time to think of changing the team composition? Can we manage the ‘crisis’ till the end of the season and make those required changes? These are questions which will only be answered properly when we put our emotions asisde. As to the match against AFC that’s a derby and current form won’t count. They had just beaten Thika away and Mathare had outplyed us and they declared the leopard was hungry but whatever happened after that is history. I have this belief that we will do a double against them.

That means that at no. 2 and with the best defence we are the second favourites to lift the cup. Any passionate GM follower should now be offering PRACTICAL solutions as we have all pointed out what we think the problem is. For our information the table leaders are weary of Gor more than any other team since if we were to find our shooting/scoring boots (which I still believe we will) then they will be in great trouble. Note that they are yet to play Sofapaka, Ulinzi, Thika and Karaturi. Our game against Congo will be our turning point. I’m still optimistic but knowing that any of the other teams can pip up to the title

For now I leave it to anybody in doubt to please himself by calling me anything. I am one of the oldest followers of Gor and commentetors on this blog. I will criticise when necessary and give credit where its due. I shall not join mob lynching band wagon. I am equally not happy with the draws, but insults, stone throwing, sacking players/coaches will not revesrse the trend. It needs a very sorber approach. Why dont we review the whole team perfomance at the end of the season. Make the necessary changes then. I dont think that is asking for too much. That has been my position which some of you have construed that I am a ZD sympathizer. I only respect and support the incumbent team anytime. Should you decide to change the coach, I shall throw my full weight behind him. Extremism is not always the solution. Kosero, you’ve never criticized the Coach guy i can bet.

I understand we all cannot see things or perceive them at the same temperature all the time.Yet i agree with you on the temperament and soberly approach you’ve had on this forum.
Guys, truly matusi is not only inadmissible but also uncalled for.
I trust consistency is one virtue in group work everywhere with regards to a public issue. But my friend Kosero you’ve always supported Zico and GM mgt even in situations adjudged sinful..eg. on the bus issue-taking three quarters of a year..when ZD deliberately kills careers..when we play awful football..guy that’s what makes some of us feel you’re joking in an emergency..when reports of fake tickets are rife you tell us to vie for the chairmanship it suggests you’re holding brief for someone.

Anyway its just football generally but remember sports is one of the big commercial ventures in the world today and serious countries are now investing heavily on sports to sustain their economies that’s why GM must be taken very seriously.

I’ve always believed sacking ZD is for his own good before his serious weaknesses are exposed further..had he been sacked earlier people wouldn’t have known about his destructive character and desperate tactics.

I watched the game, it was tough but the boys really tried, they played very well. The ground was very poor and the viewing poorest. That venue should not host such matches at all. Getting a point from Sony at Awendo is not as easy as others may think. And I think some commentators here do not give their comments based on proper information, the goal was not from any genious move, just a free kick flicked in, some luck there too.But we must also score goals, on that I cannot say more.

    Kogalo,
Those calling for sian’ga and other names should forget looking at our foot prints and mind on our next ground to step on. Kindly allow me to give Zico a tip on my football skills.
    1. Selenge is not a full time player, he’s smart on studying the game, pick up gaps from opponents and deliver in the second half. I believe he’s done that before.
    2. Ochomo is a good striker but doesn’t need to run for the ball, he needs to displace defenders but with ball supplies like makori, Moses Odhiambo, the two Kevins and if Lavatsa is there, the two must play a smart unselfish game. Problem is when Lavatsa is absent, Ochomo seems to be going for many balls when he lacks constant supplier hence he wears out.
    3. The idea of bringing in Haji is good but only when we need goals through penalties or any other free kick few metres from the opponent’s goal. Haji knows how to trap fauls but he needs to move on fast the moment he gets any ball beyond midfield. Our goal keeper jerry is good but not with bouncing balls, if you look at most of the goals that we concede you will agree with me. Backline is good. Midfield is putting Gatuso under pressure, avoid any back pass if you can’t support by covering up. We tend to slow down our pace the moment we go past midfield which shouldn’t be the case. Kenya teams fear kogalo when they raid and they become powerless. Lastly, we are quick in giving up chasing balls especially Kevin omondi but kudos lavatsa and Masika.
