Sportpesa Supercup kicks off this Sunday
Gor Mahia will be participating in their sixth tournament starting this Sunday when they kick off their campaign for the 2018 Sportpesa Super cup. Gor Mahia are the defending champions having won the 2017 edition without conceding a goal. They beat Jangombe of Zanzibar 2-0, beat Nakuru All Stars 2-0 then hammered arch rivals AFC 3-0 in the final.
This Sunday Kogalo take on Zanzibar Champions, Jeshi la Kujena Uchumi. The Zanzibaris are not overawed by their Kenyan counterparts.
“First, we pay our respects to Gor but it will be the champions of Kenya and Zanzibar playing each other on the day,” JKU captain, Pension Mark Joseph told SportPesa News
His Kogalo counterpart is adamant that Kogalo have prepared well for the tournament.
“We have been preparing well for other matches and this should just be a continuation of our assignments. After our league match yesterday, our focus is fully on the tournament and in all honesty, we are ready for it. We want to give it our best.” he said to goal.com
On paper the Zanzibaris should not challenge Gor Mahia. They faired rather badly in the 2018 Africa Champions league, losing 7-0 on aggregate to Zesco of Zambia. And 2017 marks the only time that they have ever won the Zanzibari title despite having existed for over 30 years.

Once again the “Gor Mahia”hooligans decided to export their nauseating culture to kisumu for the Gor Vs Sony game , only that this time they didn’t reckon with the fact that Kisumu has its own unique sociological dynamics and in an attempt to remind all and sundry that they are ” Jo Narobi” , they were clobbered mercilessly , were it not for the efforts of the riot police who spoilt , we would have been talking a different story .
Some time back , these Jo Narobi tried the same nonsense in Luanda on their way back from Mumias , that time again they never reckoned with a statistical fact that in this small town , the biggest consumed commodity is Cannabis Sativa and once again they were ruthlessly whacked , but like a warthog , these guys forgot and continued with their escapades, which they have since devolved to cover funerals , political meetings , Tom Mboya monument , the highways , and the list seems to grow longer and longer .
I have in my spare time tried to rationalize this new behaviour but am unable to , how if I may ask would u rationalize a situation whereby somebody opts to opts out of walking on a road and instead decides to walk by the roadside on somebody’s tomatoes , onions and bananas displayed for sale by the roadside , or people coming to your hotel , eats and pays you with beatings as their currency , or forcibly beating and throwing out a presiding pastor at a funeral , or travelling on top of a bus with empty seats inside .
I wish to laud “Jo Kisumu” for teaching these Jo Narobi that Kisumu is also a city and that there is nothing Nairobi about Ngomongo , Korogocho or Mathare .
Kisumu guys are a very peaceful and welcoming people , what they dont want and will not tolerate is a group of people suffering a severe case of inferiority complex , coming into their city , not to enjoy but to disrupt .
I pray that next time , the police should not interfere and instead allow the residents to inflict unforgetable and permanent pains on these ticks , enough of talking , enough of reasoning , enough of pleading , The damage inflicted must of necessity be permanent , Kesi baadaye .
Otherwise best of luck to the team as they embark on the sports pesa cup .
Teddy you are spot on.These primitive idlers who claim to be fans must be given proper lessons whenever they misbehave. Let them know that Kisumu is the apex and heart of Gor mahia fanbase and outsiders must toe the line or be shown where they belong.
True…hope we will not see another bout of clash between ‘jo nairobi ‘ and ‘jo Nakuru ‘…we are all one and peace must prevail.
My sincere condolences to the family of our keeper Peter Odhiambo for the double tragedy following the demise of his mother and brother. May the Almighty God grant you strength to withstand this sad period of mourning. To the primitive idlers don’t dare disrupt the burial ceremony under the pretence of Gor fans because Jougenya know no mercy to trouble makers in a funeral. You may end up with deep cuts on your bodies.

My condolences to GK Peter Odhiambo and family for this great loss,Nyasaye nigi nyalo mar chopo dwarone, kokelo gweth ne jogo duto matiyone, kata ang’o timore.
Can the admin please post Peter’s number so that that we can mpesa him like we did with Solomon Nasio’s medical issue a while back.. A post by admin will be full proof that the number provided is genuine so that we don’t fall victim to conmen.
Again I call on the officials (and fans) to have some insurance cover for the players and their immediate family which would cushion them to some extent in the event of such losses.
If the above is why Peter has fallen down the pecking order to no.3 as GK, then it is quite understandable unlike Passenger no.14’s self inflicted woes.
To those castigating Gulkan for “smiling after missing chances” remember this is only player who almost always instinctively knows where the goal is, if he does not score he is either denied by a superb save or the goal post.
