Sserunkuma named MVP of mashemeji derby

Shakava and Musa tussle with Noah Wafula

Striker Dan Sserunkuma continued his impressive scoring rate against archi rivals AFC Leopards when he notched two goals. Sserunkuma who only returned from trials in Denmark two days ago was in fine form.

Sserunkuma was happy with the result but expressed disappointment that his side did not win. “It was good that I scored but we are disappointed because we never won”, he said.

Sserunkuma however vowed that his side would remain focused. “One point is not bad for now . I hope we will win the remaining matches to be the league champions” he said

Williamson left disappointing

Gor Mahia coach Bobby Williamson expressed dissapointment at the defensive blunder that gifted AFC the equalizer.

“I am disappointed with the result today since we could have performed way better. The decision by our goalkeeper obviously cost us the second goal” he said after the game.

The draw still leaves Gor Mahia at the top of the table after Tusker were held by Bandari.

Other Post match comments

Former Sofapaka and Ulinzi coach Salim however said that the midfield was to blame for the second goal for allowing Imbalambala too much space to shoot.

Veteran Harambee stars defender Musa Otieno also faulted Gor Mahia’s defensive which he characterized as not worthy of Gor Mahia.

  • Coach….The second efusi goal was not a goalkeeping error but a midfield error! The defensive midfielders gave imbalambala too much time , they should have closed him down.

  • the goal was more of goalkeeper era and a little bit of defence/midfield error, surely hiyo ni bao gani jery alifungwa? and the coach didnt realise that efusi was on the offensive thus we needed defensive strengthening, i still not sure wether the subs helped matters. coach, kindly stop lamenting and get results and find a away of stopping to make efusi look world class while in the real sense they are not even among our competitors. as for SSERENKUMA, thank you boy, you almost won it for us, my advice is, keep scoring to strengthen your CV so that we can release you at the end of the season ndio uwache kubebeshwa mzigo. thank you , you deserve to play abroad you are above kenyan premier league standards

  • @Jakoyo. You are wondering what would happen if Ssere was out. A game has 11 players including the goalkeeper. Remove Ssere and place Otieno there and you will see wonders. Ssere is scoring because he has been placed at the tip of the attack. I hope you remember the Rooney – Ronaldo scenario. The former was moved to the wing and the you know what happened. The system was changed once Ronaldo left and you know what happened.

On yesterday’s game, I am still appalled by the fact that at this age and time, we go around picking individual players for blame. This is a team sport and the win or loss is for the whole team. People forget how many saves the goalkeeper made and how many blocks the defenders made, some very critical and only focus on one single error. This was in my view a point gained rather than 2 points lost. Remember we were playing Ingwe and not a Top Fry!! This game made me believe that we are destined to retain the TPL. We will even win it by more points than what we got last season

  • On a matter unrelated to this, I need your opinion on whether we need the so called buffer zone that someone has decided to create during the Gor-AFC matches. Clearly I feel it is unnecessary. Fans should be left to mingle so as to create togetherness. In modern psychologically, a buffer zone makes one think that those on the other side are ones enemies. There was no violence at the VIP area, where there was no buffer zone and I remember the fan were free to cross on the other side which created a sense of togetherness. Let me hear your views.

Sometimes I really sympathies with this small guy sserenkuma, really why is jerry always diluting the hard work done by some players…?why was jerry running out of the goal and knocking himself on owino while he had seen very well that owino was in a position of heading the ball.he’s always compromising the team and that is the truth of the matter.can he deny that he was not seen with aladwa just the other day before the match.it is high time that the coach start looking for alternative in the goalkeeping department, when will this young lad Bataro be tried within the sticks,i remember juma is the one who boosted us to number one when jerry with his blunders was relegated to the bench by the coach but the injury that he got relegated him back again to the bench.personally I had lost hopes with this jerry guy due to his tendency of compromising the team.

    pmawego@6…
Its only natural to blame someone…or something when results don’t go your way.
however,i don’t think jerry is to blame entirely..the team has to share the blame. At 2-1 up and with about 10 minutes to go,we should have closed shop.
that being the case, all is not lost.we should pick ourselves up and fight for the remaining points.
    meanwhile,good luck in CECAFA!!

Danny Sserunkuma deserves the award, the boys deserve a big applause and BW deserved a win yesterday.

Bobby Williamson I looked at you yesterday and I saw the burning ambition in you to win that match. You have finally believed! Yes coach thank you. You have finally believed that the work of Efusi is to be beaten.

May I ask: what did you tell the boys at half time? This is because the team that played soon upon kick off of the 2nd half was not Gor but Mahia. Congratulations Scotsman. You were winning yesterday’s match were it not for the idiotic and silly misjudgment by Jagoal as very clearly put by @Jack Omollo. Why don’t you suggest to EC to send this guy on a holiday to Hawaii? Or better still why can’t Jagoal himself go for trials? Surely Jagoal, other players are going for trials all over the globe. You are just a man like them. Please go for trials even if it is in Somalia. It is clearly your collision with King David that removed the sting and direction off his header clearance. Jathur gi Ji has asked why we hired Bataro from Thika United if we are shy to use him? Jagoal I have always stuck with you, sympathized and even defended you in the blog, but yesterday I was hugely disappointed.

jerry’s school boy mistakes cost us yesterday ,there is no reason why someone should just be running aimlessly and leaving the goal empty. To the guys like jarae who want to praise everything continue doing so since it is your right, but to the fans who are willing we wont keep quiet while something is going wrong in the team ,jarae if you are in jerrys payroll to protect him ,just protect him but stop insults man.

Let us accept it,guyz.Jerry’s peformance was below par.I schooled with Jerry in the same school in Rambula,we know each other personally and we are great friends and I know his potential as a goalkeeper(he emerged the best goalkeeper in the district for two consecutive years). If he reads this message he should know that we expected a better performance from our captain. He has done marvellous saves(US Bitam and many others) for this Mighty club and even put his own life at stake. As a captain he ought to have been calm, cool and collected in goal as he offers stewardship to other players, after all this is not the first derby he has played in.
It is demotivating for the likes of Timothy,Gatusso,Calabar,Serre and others to give their all only to be disappointed eleventh hour with such an easy but wonderful goal due to lack of concentration.Otherwise one point is better than none.K’Ogallo for life.

  • @ Titus- Jarae is just being a good sportsman and a good looser. You are a very bad looser and I can bet and pay you Kshs 1,000,000 if you can kick a penalty and score against Jerry. You are allowed to criticize but not singling players for bashing. That job is left for the coach and he does that in a closed door session. You look like the type who would wait for Jerry and beat him up when you meet him next because of an alleged error. Please allow the coach to deal with the situation. Stop being too negative and look as well at the saves the guy made. Jerry was in a team of 11 players and singling him out is actually making a threat to his life!! Don’t take football like life and death so as to leave other important things that can bring put food on your table. Apart from the payers and the technical bench and even the officials, the rest should see football as a social event and must be left to remain social. Football is supposed to bring us together and not make us apart. Some of the comments are warlike and likely to be a threat on the players’ lives. The coach picks the players and therefore all criticisms should be directed at him.

But even the coach himself said the second goal was due to goalkeeping mistake/error so you want us to praise something which is not there…?I know some of us are jerry’s ears outside here who tells him what is going on on the ground.please go and get your pay from him for collecting the information on the ground and tell him that we are not pleased whether we know how to kick the penalty or not.We cant burry our heads in the sand while it is something that everyone saw,he has to know that this is his carrier and he has to do it to his best since it is what is sustaining him and his family, some of us work under very tight conditions with performance contract on our neck and immediately you fail to perform you can even be sacked.so to the sympathizes of jerry and the right hand men or his watch men of this blog please go and tell him we will not tire up from pointing at his mistakes.

  • I have just read in futaa.com and jerry was saying that we have learnt from the afc mistake,my question is for how long will he learn from his perennial school boy mistakes he always do….?it is the same mistake the guy did when we were playing esparance, the same mistake he did when we were just about to take trophy in 2012,the same one during kcb match although we were lucky we won 3-2,the same one he did yesterday and many others, jerry be composed we will really regret for these points we are loosing easily to our opponents,we had won that afc game but you failed terribly.

  • @Oluoch. You are contradicting yourself here. Jerry is right, learning is a continuous process. You have just learnt something from futaa which you did not know before yet you seem not to want Jerry to learn. Why should you be the only one to learn and not others? We learn everyday and I have just learnt something from you. That you like dwelling so much on the past!! Wake up my man and look ahead!!

For sure Jerry disappointed many yesterday and that is a fact. Jerry seems to panic and uncomposed whenever we play afc. He worked hard at times. But the defense
also created many dangerous blunders. One thing is that Gor players sometimes behave as if they have absolutely no idea of what to do with the ball. You all saw what Otieno did himself and the goal keeper at an agle. I don’t know what others say this about Eric Ochieng, this guy is already tired and once challenge then thats the end. The major problem is that Gor cannot maintain their standard for 90mns.

Look at how this Jarae guy is reasoning like a quack ,you are looking at the position or the point difference…?no wonder your mouth is sooo big when it comes to insults.our team really plaid well apart from the one school boy error.Let us support the team but jarae this is not a place to insult people ,wacha kujifanya unajua jerry kuliko watu wengine.these are the people who are supporting gor mahia and they are free to share there opinion with everybody here so matusi weka kando brother,we don’t want to know how you were brought up but seemingly you have started to show us how it was done.

@Otieno from your comments you must have played football at one time, or is still a player. Your reasoning is different from a typical gor fan, who just criticises needlessly when things are not in order but cheers wildly when winning. We need more of you. Didn’t we Marcelo creating history with the only own goal in WC 2014?

i request BW to COACH timothy otieno on what to do when approaching the goal mouth. the boy will be star

Can the coach apply the pattern 4:3:1:2 so that the last pattern 1 n 2 be 1(KARIUKI) 2(SERRE AND TIMOTHY)
