Sserunkuma’s return for derby would be a boost

Gor Mahia deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala yesterday indicated that striker Dan Ssserunkuma might be available for the Mashemeji derby second leg to be played on Sunday.

“His trials in Denmark were to last until July 24. We expect that he will fly back home immediately in time for the derby,” Ngala told goal.com

Sserunkuma left for Denmark for trials with HB Koge and has since featured in at least two matches during their tour of Germany. He is set to return on Thursday while he awaits a decision from HB Koge.

Sserunkuma’s has scored several crucial goals against AFC Leopards. Indeed his scoring record in this derby is second only to the legendary Sammy Onyango “Jogoo”.

Gor Mahia could use his firepower given that the forwardline appears to have stalled in the last two games. More importantly, Gor Mahia will be trying to redeem themselves after losing to AFC 1-3 in the first  leg match a few weeks back.

Coach Bobby Williamson who has yet to beat AFC has indicated Sserunkuma will certainly be in his plans if he makes it home before the derby. “I will be glad to have him for the match. He is a good player, who can help us in the derby.” he told goal.com. Indeed Williamson’s record in the Mashemeji derby is a starke contrast to his predecessor who always beat AFC. The Scot will be eager to record his first Mashemeji win. A victory this Sunday would be  a harbinger of good things to come as far as the CECAFA cup which starts next month.

Gor Mahia have been playing well in the last three KPL matches with the exception of the forward-line which at times has appeared blunt. Much of that is likely due to turnover of players which has seen Williamson try several players of late including new signing Arthur Ssemazi, Blackberry and Oboya. Strikers need to play together for some time in order to build cohesion. The addition of Sserunkuma and his budding partnership with Timothy Otieno could be what Kogalo needs this Sunday.

  • Great news indeed. I hope Danny wins the professional contract with this Danish club for good of the club and Danny.

  • I trust in the Lord that we shall win this derby. B.W you are like Venger, you are a real manager who uses the little resources to turn around the company.
The young boys you are grooming now, in a years time they will be the stars and K’ogalo will make millions out of thousands. Give them long contracts so that they don’t go free like Wanyonyi way.
I know you have a great future plan for the club, don’t pay much attention to the noise makers who can’t see beyond today.
    GO!! GO!! K’OGALO FOREVER

Let us not peg so much hope on one player because if it happens that he just does not click on that day then we shall forgot all his past good and brand him a quack.
Admin, by the way you should treat all unsavory blogs with equal contempt. The blog abhors personal attacks and it is only fair that the attackers get equal treatment.

From reliable sources Danny was not enlisted as the team wants him to complete his six months with Gor before re-opening the negotiations again. I think it is a blessing for GM as much as we appreciate Danny has done alot for us and we would like him to succeed and make a much better leaving from his talent. I believe God has better things in store for him.
Danny, you are always welcome back at Gor. At least you have a better manager than the person who advices Rama who might end up clubless for the next six months.

@Isaac Ochieng, Rama is in SA trying his luck with Celtic while Lavatsa is around after being dropped from Algeria. He is aiming for a team in Europe. Both are now not legible to play in the TPL ’cause the registration period is over. I feel for both of them especially Rama who might miss on soccer altogether if he is not succesfull. At least he should have signed with Gor or any other team as he goes ‘fishing’ for greener pastures

  • AS I PRAY A GOR VICTORY IN WHATEVER I LEAVE YOU WITH THE FOLLOWING QUOTE FROM BW AKA SCOLARI AKA THE GAMBLER AKA FLIP FLOP.
NO WONDER FLAVA’S GOAL RATIO HAS PLUMMETED UNDER BW.
IS HE BEING FORCED TO PLAY FLAVA SINCE HE’S NEVER FANCIED THIS GREAT GOAL SCORER SINCE HIS UG CRANE’s DAYS.
I THOUGHT IN THE END ITS SCORING GOALS THAT MATTER.
PLAYING SMART NOT HARD WITH LITTLE TO SHOW FOR IT.

Coach Williamson also praised debutant Timothy Otieno for his effort on the field.

“Otieno is the kind of strikers that I like because he is hard working unlike Dan Sserunkuma who doesn’t work hard but scores but I like forwards who gets their reward through working hard.

Kogalo support fans, plse compose songs that praise the team, let football be enjoyed by all people not composing abuses. When more people turn up the better for the club. If one can cover his face with a bra…..surely is this the way to support kogalo? Shame on that man style up.

@oduor,ur 1 & only prayer i guess is to the devil (sorry 2say),4 GM to lose so that BW can be sacked.u & ua friend are so full of WIVU towards BW.A prayerful person shuld be driven by love not of himself bt of the other person, shuld seek to encourage & not discourage, cal names when things are bad.So pliz drop ua hypocrasy..I note that u have never mentioned who u think is the best coach for GM,all u do is to generalize-the best coaches are out thea jst adv.this tells me ua destroyer not a builder.

day in day u blame EC,they r incompent, not gud for GM,yet when the time came for to u offer you candidature u sat back, proposing no one,jst waiting for who ever won umkashifu.i wonder which team is playing your preffered style of soccer in kpl and what position are they.In jan u guys gave BW six months ati by then GM would have been struggling & out of contention. Now the script has changed, sijui must win cecafa, retain league to prove.prove what?.who took the team to cecafa, won the league??

  • @ “Levelmind” fan u r blubbering but ua name alone betrays your selfrighteousness.
4 one I don’t compare current GM’s style of play 2 those of other teams in KPL. I COMPARE IT TO GM’S TEAMS OF YESTERYEARS.
IF WEREN’T YET THERE THEN SORRY BUT U CAN REFER TO HISTORY EVEN HERE ON THIS SITE.
As 2 hollow arguments-y didn’t u stand 4 elections, apply 2 coach GM, form your own team etc etc kindly apply the same to yourselves. Divergent views are inevitable especially if supported na sija tusi mtu.

  • In Jan GM was 2 b guided in 6 competitions by a top notch coach. CAF CUP, CECAFA, TPL, GorTV,Top 8, Kenya Power Cup.
We’ve literally been bundled out of 4 tourneys either by minnows or by embrassing scorelines.
Look at the GM’s squad in Jan & now some are talking of “gelling”.
Who is supposed ensure a stable/stronger team elected EC or those u think should have offered themselves for elections
GMFC has been on the slide & prayers r our best chance of retaining the TPL.WAKE UP-Thats REALITY.

  • @Oduor we are tired of your endless criticism to the coach. Please give us your preffered coach and tactics because you feel what BW is doing is not up to standard otherwise if you dont have any solution then you can hug transformer. BW go go go we appreciate your commitment for the team despite meagre resources that we have currently. We will accept any result from the remaining matches as we understand that in football you either win, draw or lose and by the end of the league l’m sure you will disapprove perrenial pessimists in this site.
