Stima test awaits Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia have pitched camp in the Lakeside town of Kisumu. Having beaten Tusker at Moi stadium on Sunday, they will now take on Western Stima in the 29th game of the season. With only two matches left, Gor Mahia players look focused and determined. They are still playing as if the title is at stake, a testament to the motivational abilities of coach Frank Nuttall.

Stima for their part will be fighting doggedly to steer clear of the relegation zone. They are currently in 12th position. The recent announcement by Sam Nyamweya that four teams will be relegated means that Stima are only one place above  the relegation zone.

Coach Henry Omino is concerned that his team has had to travel from Mombasa all the way to the Lakeside town.

“My players are fatigued. They have had a long road trip from Mombasa. Some of them have swollen legs because of the distance and the bus was not very comfortable,” he lamented. “They require some rest and that is why we just had a light work out,” he told the Nation.

Omino further hit out at Gor Mahia for what he called unsportsmanlike conduct.

“We have been forced to travel more than 800kilometers to Kisumu to play Gor Mahia though we had requested them to play the match in Nairobi. I wonder where the sportsmanship is and looks like they are only interested in gate collections,” Omino told goal.com.

Gor Mahia will still be without the injured Abouba Sibomana and Godfrey Walusimbi. But they will be ableto count on the in form Innocent Wafula who has acquited himself well in the full back position. Blackberry and Abondo are seeing a resurgence in their form and will be a handful to the Stima defence.
