Thika coach: We are tactically better

The Thika United coach John Kamau is exuding confidence ahead of teh KPL Top 8 match scheduled for Machakos on Sunday. In an interview with goal.com Kamau who also doubles as the coach of the Kenya U20 team predicted a tough match but insisted that his better tactics would win the day.

“Both teams are enjoying a good run in Kenyan Premier League and this makes the match very tough and especially being a knock-out competition, it is even tougher.

“However, Thika United has an edge by the fact that we are tactically better than Gor Mahia and will use it to our advantage to get the win,” Kamau told Goal.

Kamau is also readying his team psychologically to confront the partisan crowd of green army  fans who are expected to turn up. We have never been intimidated by Gor Mahia fans. If anything they motivate us to do our best.” said Kamau to goal.

Moses Odhiambo Back

Gor Mahia may for the first time play against former club midfielder and fan favourite Moses Odhiambo . The talismanic midfielder popularly known to fans as “Dube” was in South Africa for trials.

Moses Odhiambo is back in the country. Things did not work out as expected down there in SA and as such he will link up with the team. We have agreed on all the modalities with him and in the next few games he could be cleared to feature in our upcoming matches”,  said Kamau to supersport.

  • This dude thinks so highly of himself but just to remind him Thika will always remain just another team from Thika while Gor will always remain the team with the word “Champions” before its name.
We come with the right pedigree on our side and i believe non one will take this pride away from us even Thika.

Kamau, tactically better doesn’t mean anything in football. The final result is what fans are concerned about

Kamau thinks that getting a draw against Gor and especially after defending for 90 minutes means his team is better than Gor! Sunday atajionea awache hio mdomo.
Gor need to win that match in 90 minutes, no penalties please. That Hamza Mawonge guy is deadly when it comes to saving spot kicks.

  • this guy started opening his mouth big when he denied us the league. still basking in that last match draw of 2012. I wish our players put through a dozen of goals through that big mouth of his.

Kamua you should KNOW people. We have not respect for you as Kogalo when it comes to football. Maybe when it comes to thiefing only

  • It’s just a matter of hours for Kamau to show us how tactical he is, but again he should know that he’s less a football coach! What makes you feel that you’re comparable to Bobby? A tactical coach win trophies and he’s won nothing.

Kamau please stop this cheap gimmicks and publicity that will take you nowhere. Does it mean when you play defensive football and come out with a draw against Gor then you are tactically better?
Just wait over the weekend them you will comment after the match.

This kamau fella is really something. While i appreciate what he is doing with our u20 team i think he should never for the life of Lego Maria dream that he and the ever changing thika are championship material. Kamau concentrate on maintaining thika players instead of building a kindategen those pre-match antics will not help this mogoka chewing delude replica of a coach. SSere and co kindly vindicate this statement this weekend!!!

Teams renowned for good tactical discipline do win trophies.Unless I don’t live I Kenya,Thika has always carried the tag”wanabe”.They have never been champions.Comrades, beware when you see a coach sing his own praises. When he reveals a total lack of respect for his opponent, the way Kamau has done,it is normally a fear management gimmick. He fears Gor and the green army.I am glad our manager does fancy mind games.Arguing with Kamau will lower his dignity.Honestly it will.

  • @ Jakorando (6). Your comment is really in bad taste. Your comment really tells us what kind of a person you are. Learn to respect others my friend. Learn to tolerate your opponents. On the other hand, Kamau is in my view is the best coach in the TPL currently who is good at mind games. No other coach can match him. And remember, mind games can kill the opponents even before the ball is kicked and even after the game. Remember his statement after the draw with Gor where he claimed Gor were the home team by virtue of the match being played at City. The fact is that Thika was the home team as per the TPL schedule. That statement plus others showed how good he is at mind games.

And Jakorando, hii dunia ni dwara, one day Kamau may be at the helm of Gor Mahia in any capacity. Will you still call him those names
