Tom Ogweno hired as Tuyisenge still recuperating
Former Ulinzi and Harambee Stars striker Tom Ogweno is the new assistant coach at Gor Mahia. Ogweno takes over from Frank Ouna who quit without an explanation last weekend. Ronald Ngala confirmed that Ogweno has been hired on an interim basis.
We are in no hurry to appoint a new assistant coach. At the moment Ogweno will serve as the assistant coach until need for an appointment arises. He has been with the team for some time, understands the players well and we know he can perform as an assistant. We have not officially appointed him as an assistant coach but he will serve in that capacity for now, Ngala told Futaa.com
Ogweno has served in various capacities at Gor Mahia and as had a chequered career. he worked as Bob Ogolla’s assistant coach in 2012. He then became team manager when Zdravko Logarusic was hired. Most recently he served as trainer. In 2013 he was fired after falling out with Logarusic after Gor Mahia lost the league on the very last day of the 2012 season. His familiarity with the players is the reason he was appointed.
“He (Ogweno) has been with us for some time; he understands our policy and everything about the club. It was an easy choice because his commitment to the club is unquestionable. I am sure the club as well as the players will benefit from him and to us it is a massive step forward.” said Ngala to goal.com
As a player, Ogweno starred for Ulinzi Stars in the late 1990s and was a favourite of legendary Harambee Stars coach Reinhard Fabisch.
Ogweno will assist newly hired coach Ze Maria to become familiar with the players including newly signed Jacque Tuyisenge whom Ze Maria assessed, but decalred not ready to play yet. .
“He (Tuyisenge) seems like an out and out striker who is a favourite of any coach. He is responding well to training but the worst I can do is to give him a starting place. But I can assure you that he is part of my plans in the transition period,” said Ze Maria.
According to mediamax network, Tuyisenge has injuries on both knees and may not return until the second leg.
“Gor signed me to score goals and can’t wait to get a clean bill of health from the team’s medical personnel.” said Tuyisenge.
Fans will be left wondering how the club paid Ksh 4 million without conducting a physical.
The good news for Ze Maria and Gor Mahia fans is that the new coach has some time to figure out how to restore Gor Mahia’s performance levels. With several players away on international duty, Gor Mahia will not play another league match until April.
Tom Ogweno has always been my favourite when he is incharge we beat teams like burukenge. wait now u want to see how we beat teams now.Fanya kama kawaida lwok team obed maber
Tuyisenge was spoted in Mombasa on the beach. Lol
Was impressed to read that even the former CS, Waiguru is a Gor fan. Let’s protect the brand
Eeeh..waiguru is a kogallo fan ? Reputational risk
@Jakoyo, where is the risk? To expand and be strong we need to expand our fan base as well as EC to areas not previously explored. Diversity is what will make us invisible. An example is our playing unit. Remember the days ingwe was looking inside while we were looking outside and we became the most feared team within the region while ingwe struggled
Wasn’t everyone complaining about players’ fitness levels? Well Who Was The Fitness Trainer? Maybe he’s being “rewarded” by Ec for being “loyal” more than FN,JBO,Ouna. Osiepa i’d care less even if she were a member. Btw GM is not “a religious organization” and be sure it has die fans accross the whole spectrum of society i.e bhang smokers, stone throwers, kamiti/kodiaga members not to forget “K.Street” practioners, priests, mama mbogas, ministers, ceos, ex pm etc,etc so Waiguru should be encouraged to take up membership (lf she ain’t done it yet)
Whether rachier secures ten sponsors I don’t care.the fact still remains that he is unfit to hold any position in for.reasoning fans won’t mind worshipping him for this coz afteral it’s us mafans who made these possible. When l read some comments here I just wonder how cheap some fans are,e.g is @jakoyo,Vincent OWINO….plz let’s reason beyond today and tomorrow.I stand with blogger.
I hope this team is practicing.
New coach
sponsors
fans
etc
don’t they need to deliver now?
Allow me to start by congratulating fans and supporters who have stood with the team during these difficult times. The results have not gone our way and we are a dejected lot.I have not been able to watch my beloved Gor this year because of commitment in Germany. From what I hear the team has been distressing to watch.Comrades, things will change for the better. It is still early in the season and three wins on the trot will take us very close to top four. From there,I believe, we shall be in the mix.If there was a time the team and EC needed our support it is now.Let us stop the habit of insulting EC and players every time we lose a match.Who said Gor must win all it’s matches? Is it the first time we lost Efusi?Friends, let us protect Gor brand.I hear we have got another Shirt Sponsor. This means we shall have enough cash in the transfer window and may get any player we may need.I know there some of us,and I respect their opinions, who will always see a cup that is half empty. Give credit where it is due.On sponsorship I think Rachier and his team has got smiling. Many of you may not agree with their efforts but as I suggested a few months on this site those individuals should offer themselves for election.I had the privilege of watching Man U play Norwich in BPL a few weeks ago.United lost that match.Disappointment was written on many a face of Man U fans in red letters but the threw no objects on to the pitch. They stoned no cars nor vandalised any nor did they hold any official hostage. They have lost several games after that and are technically out of UCL next season.Gor,’s season is still redeemable.Keep faith.Support the team.
So what Ingo? Recuperating yes and that’s part of it. Money isddisappearing from the den at midnight, please check on that.
