Top coaches have applied for Gor Mahia job

The position of Gor Mahia coach appears attractive to some top coaches even despite the financial instability at the club.

According to a report by goal.com, former Gor Mahia coach and fan favourite Zdravko Logarusic is foremost among those who have applied for the job. Logarusic sees it as unfinished business after he left the club in June of last year.

Sebastian Desabre

Former Esperance coach Sebastian Desabre is another top name who has applied for the job according to goal. The Frenchman Desabre is youthful at 38 but his record is stellar. Under him, Esperance won the Tunisian league. Thats not saying much considering how dominant Esperance is in Tunisia. But prior to Esperance, he coached Coton Sport Garoua of Cameroon whom he led to the Camerounian league title. He also coached the Camerounian side through the group stages of the Champions league to the semi-finals where they lost to Al Ahly of Egypt only on away goals rule.

Between 2010 and 2012 he was coach at Asec Mimosas of the Ivory Coast. There he led them to win the Coupe de cote d’ivoire in 2012 and the Coupe Houpouet Boigny in 2012. He also led them to the quarter finals of the CAF cup.

He has no experience in any Anglophone nation so it is not clear how good his English is.

Dorian Marinn

Eritrea national team coach Dorian Marinn has also applied for the job according to goal.com. The 54 year old Romanian is still listed as coach of King Faisal Babes in Kumasi, Ghana where he has coached since January 2014.  His coaching career has also taken him to Tishreen of Syria and Uganda Revenue authority.

A glance at Marinn’s curriculum vitae does not show any notable achievements and King Faisal are currently 14th out of 16 teams in the Ghanaian league and are staring at relegation.

However Some Kenyans might remember him as the coach under whom Eritrea beat Kenya twice during qualifications for the 2008 Africa nations cup. At the time, Frenchman Bernard Lama was Harambee stars coach.

Local coaches

Among the local coaches who have applied to take up the position include former AFC Leopards coach Jan Koops, Bidco United coach Alfred Imonje and former Nairobi City Stars coach Tim Bryett.  None of these have notable achievements either. There is no word on whether former coaches Sammy Omollo or Zedekiah Otieno have applied.

More Applications due

Club secretary general has indicated that the club expects more applicants to send their CVs.

“More applications are still coming. We have constituted an interviewing panel which will look at all those applicants and narrow it down to five before we pick the most suitable candidate,” he told goal.com. What is also not clear is whether the club has the financial wherewithal.

Of course we can “afford” to pay an expariate “mzungu” head coach in excess of kshs. 600,000/month and provide him with the Kidero apartment BUT THE PLAYERS THEN GO FOR 3 MONTHS WITHOUT PAYMENT OF SALARIES & ALLOWAMCES.
THE EC HAS GOT ITS PRIORITIES UPSIDE DOWN IN GM.
All this is an effort in futility. Talk of playing to the gallery ITS NOT ONLY OUNA.
ONLY FAN PRESSURE & PRAYERS MAY DELIVER TPL THIS SEASON, DISMAL RECORD IN REGION/CONTINENT IS PROOF.
SURELY HAS THE LAUNDRY BILL EVEN BEEN PAID?

Oduori, you and this laundry bill. Be optimistic for once and see the good side of it.

@Oduor, were you born to support Gor? Am sure there are so many teams you can support if everything Gor is not to your standard. I hope the bitterness is not because Zeddy has not applied for the position. At least we now know why you never liked BW as you were all along hoping for Zico to come back. Even @Ingo’s contribution is more positive than yours

The debate about the new head of our Technical Bench is on-going with some very interesting U-turns. However, let us discuss that next time. For now, what Gor Mahia needs is a Tactician and not just a coach.

I don’t believe our EC as currently constituted has the capacity to identify a tactician. The best they can do is pick a coach and hope that he could turn out to be a tactician. We have seen enough of such gambling. Ideally the panel or committee selecting our next head of TB should be constituted by men who have the capacity and who know exactly what has been ailing Gor Mahia’s play. They should look for someone who can solve our goal drought, oil the midfield and fix our leaky defense. These men must be tacticians themselves. I propose that the selection committee be made up mainly of known football tacticians like Mzee Siang’a, Bob Oyugi, Austin Makamu, Thigo Min Pap, Tobby Ochola and two representatives from the fans of whom I wish to submit Le Pastre’s and The Trailer’s names.

How come Oduor knows every details in Gor even the unpaid bills of the laundry? Is he a normal Gor fan or abnormal Gor and Zeddy’s fanatics?

Ooh Laa la..! MIT NDII..,,! “JO K’OGALO KICHORE KONENO ODIERO YAWA”

Breaking News..!! ZICO has submitted his official application for consideration amongst many other applicants. It is a tight race and let us support whoever will be picked whole heartedly.
But am for homegrown solution be it either Ghost , Okumbi, Zico, IMONJE ,T9, Nam, Ouma,PAMZO or Akwana but not the expensive foreigners. For me it is better the Devil I know than the white angel that is depriving kenyans of some employment opportunities to show case their skills.

All in all let us all move in the same direction and avoid unnecessary and un-friendly fire
fighting over nothing. We Are are all in Gor Mahia to stay and as long as K’Ogalo do not exist in the UTOPIAN world then my fellow respected Gor Mahians should expect divergent view that will not necessarily augur well with the hero worshippers of Gormahia.net.

ODUOR 12 is part and parcel of team LOGA and so is JAKOYO, where as am for ZD ,while Dan Original was 4 OKUMBI, but now we are being Demonized 4 declaring our preferred candidates after being challenged to do so by comrade Pmawego and Kosero.

Ok WENYE Gor let us move ON with your preferred ODIERO and see if that will make us reclaim our KPL title , regional and Continental championship status.

  • figures dont lie from the look of things SEBASTIAN DESABLE fits the Gor, it will be a terrible mistake for EC to let him go, just look at what he has achieved at his age,

Let EC not be held hostage by ODUOR 12 and OGANGO TRAILER they mean no well to Gor

if the work rate of local coaches is low why pay them high, as u cannot compare Ugandan gor players with Kenyan Gor players since work rate of Ugandan Gor players is high

AS i always say we should never allow Gor to be coached by a quack. all local coaches are quacks

in any case SEBASTIAN DESABLE has previously made money judging by the teams he has coached .and i repeat this is the coach who will understand the current financial crisis we are faced with and will accept less pay

i liked they way esperance were scoring goals, i need the same to be reprecated in Gor when this coach over as Gor coach, this coach can turn timothy otieno into a scoring machine

Ogango Trailer’s sudden change of tune is stunning. The Trailer I admire your current crusade for a Zico “come back home”, but allow me to submit one reason why Zico will not come back so easily. The guy just does not trust you.

Zico believes you are setting a snare for him. Why is that? These comments posted in this site some 8 months ago are still fresh in his mind. If I may quote “…OGANGO TRAILER posted on January 7, 2014: Ooh Laa la a..!!”ATI ZICO IS BACK, MY FOOT; FORGET IT” @ Jack Omollo wachana na GIK MA KAMAGO, Or may be you are referring to a different club from the one I know. I have already had enough and I don’t want to comment further….. OGANGO TRAILER posted on January 8, 2014: Ooh Laa la..!!! ” ZICO COMEBACK?.. BRING IT OVER”…!! @ Erico Jarae it’s “WE” and not “I”. Be informed that @ Jack Omollo opinion on ZICO’S comeback is shared by other silent voices in this blog. I beg to support him. @ Jack Omollo stop wasting your energy with ZD issue and let the EC BRING IT OVER and thereafter we will respond accordingly. This will not be a blunder but a tragedy that the EC will have themselves to blame. ….@ Barefoot Bandit “WE” are waiting for official declaration. Dealing with ZD is so easy. In fact this guy will pay for so many ills that he did not commit…. OGANGO TRAILER posted on January 8, 2014: @ Erico jarae you did inquire on what “WE” shall do if one ZICO is forced down our throat on K’Ogalo TB. The answer is simple and straight forward. We shall apply the same unorthodox actions we took the last time he was on the technical bench before he went sabbatical and disappeared into oblivion……You village-mates it is better you tread carefully and understand that GM will never ever be a preserved property of JO-GEM. JUST BRING IT ON; TUKO TAYARI..!!

Over to you The Trailer, you need to reassure Zico that you truly mean well and that this is not a trap. All in all the biggest question remains: judging from the latest developments who, between Zico and Ogango Trailer has “reformed”?

  • I think when Rachier went 4r Loga, he was fed up with local coaches who r not professional in their jobs. The local coaches normaly group players in clasters & if u r not his friend u will not play while he is still the coach. When Loga came players had to proove their worth to earn play time. Timonah cud not even sit on the bench b4 BW came but BW discovered how gud he was & made gud use of him. Anyway I prefer that Mzungu called Sebastian even if he doesnt know English but footbal language is universial.

@Braefoot Bandit true to my words I had no room 4 ZICO, but after soul searching and looking at the issue at stake I have concluded that this guy is actually the best antidote for the chasing pack namely TUSKER, SOFAPAKA and CHEMO.

It is The Trailer who has reformed and seen the light at the end of the tunnel because I know ZD capability when it comes to dealing with the closest competitor. @ The bandit ZD chrashed all the three above to allow SoNy to remain in top flight football and bringing him over definitely will ensure that we shall have the trophy back into K’Ogali cabinet or what else is remaining for us to compete for.

BW is gone as a proud leaving GM pitched at the top of the table though not forgetting that we have crashed out of all other competitive trophies that were available.

Over to you the Bandit and advise if my crusade for ZICO does not mean well for K’Ogalo.

The Trailer I have read you loud and clear and I believe your explanation has cleared any iota of doubt that was lingering in Zico’s mind.

To our esteemed bloggers, may I echo the words of Ogango Trailer in post 10 above: “…All in all let us all move in the same direction and avoid unnecessary and un-friendly fire fighting over nothing. We are all in Gor Mahia to stay and as long as K’Ogalo do not exist in the UTOPIAN world then my fellow respected Gor Mahians should expect divergent view that will not necessarily augur well with the hero worshippers of Gormahia.net…”

We really don’t need to go so personal simply because we don’t agree with some comments. How I wish the gagger would always allow debate in this blog to flow freely.

It’s good to know that time heals and is also an eye-opener. Anyway for Gor I would go for a foreign coach. The reasons are 1) the typical kenyan player will always respect them 2) they have no biases on players, don’t care about ethnicity 3) the fans also seem to respect them more than local coaches. If CVs are the criteria I would give the job to Sebastian otherwise if a local I would still go for Okumbi, though he has not bothered to apply. I hope by the time we play Ulinzi the new coach will be present

Having read all the posted extracts of CV,I wld give the young man Sebastian,I wish he knows English so that he can start scouting for good players for next season.even if we were to win, there will be mass exodus due to sponsorship.we also need a marketing manager for the team, this will enable forget sponsorship urgently, this will also enable us retain players n coaches..physical trainer is also needed,no coach will be willing to retain unfit players.

That GM was unable to settle the laundry bill is a fact however much some would like it not to be. By extension its an indication of how poorly GM is run we don’t pay laundry bills and well as players salaries.
@ Eric Y please take time to read articles and you will find the answer to the very question you are posing staring you right in the face.
    You for benefit see below:
Under the article BW bids farewell…

Williamson’s statement about the club needing a sponsor is very apt. There are reports that the club did not wear the Joma kit because they did not settle the laundry bill when the Joma kits were taken for cleaning.

@ Dan O I must say in your desperate effort to appear more K’galo than others you have not only become the custodian of the paybill-3500100 and also the list of applicants for GM’s head coach but have also arrogated yourself this peculiar right of telling bloggers to leave GM and go and support other teams than only you know of.
To the desperation has also affected your memory which has become loose with is worrying ( your loose tongue is not an issue).
@ Dan O I challenge you to quote where & when I have ever supported Ziko(note the spelling and who first used it) as coach. You have been shamelessly harping on that issue despite being corrected by O.T.
Its not my style to address bloggers personally but my view divergent views are acceptable and enlightening but not the deliberate and shallow twisting of views one does not agree with.
If am wrong @ Dan.O please follow the example of @ Barefoot Bandit (which @ O.T admitted and clarified) and quote my support of Ziko from the archives rather than lazily attaching to me statements or views that are not mine.

Finally to answer your direct question “Prefect” of Gor Mahia.net, YES, YES, YES I was born to support Gor Mahia F.C and if you weren’t then pole sana.

And finally so as not to sink into the slime of petty personality tussles that is the forte of one or two bloggers my question remains:
Whoever becomes head coach be it Ouna,Ziko, Logarusic or even Joachim Low, do fans really expect much in terms of team stability and results if the piece meal/non payment of players’ salaries / allowances continues.
How do you demand performance when players are not being paid on time.
It is the responsibility of EC to provide a conducive environment for players and in turn coaches.
Nobody in the EC was forced to stand for office and they were elected to do a job. The first and basic job is to ensure that salaries which EC agrees to pay players /coaches are actually paid on time & in full.
That’s the very least since GM fans are rightfully very demanding.
Telling us that players are bearing difficulties(which is true) is lame since EC created these very difficulties and refuses to resolve them by engaging KRA and being transparent.

  • What we need to be fixed at Gor by Frunk is defense. Our defense is terrribe and they let in very easy crosses that eventually get Jerim off guard. The Technical bench and the officials at least explain what we fan dont know.
