Unstoppable Gor Mahia floor Sofapaka

Those who were worried about Gor Mahia players losing their motivation or worried about a seemingly porous defence need not worry. Gor Mahia dismissed those fears with a clinical demolition of Sofapaka on Wedensday by a score of 2-0.

Ali Abondo confirmed his return to scoring form when he picked up a loose ball following Olunga’s header to plant the ball in the net in the 21st minute. Michael Olunga moved closer to the league top scorer slot when he found the back of the net in the 77th minute.

Gor Mahia dominated the early exchanges. Only three minutes into the match, Innocent Wafula’s effort was cleared off the line. Meddie Kagere and Karim Nizigiyimana had a field day operating on the flanks. The Sofapaka full back duo of Heritier Luvalu and Anthony Ndolo had no answer for them. Kagere came close to doubling the lead in the 35th minute when he latched onto a cross from Olunga but his effort went overboard.

Sofapaka came back a better side in the second half and even forced a penalty in the 61st minute when Boniface Oluoch in the Kogalo goal was adjudged to have fouled a Sofapaka player. But Oluoch stifled Sofapaka when he punched John Baraza’s corner out.

The marauding Kagere was at it again in the 77th minute when he picked up a through ball from Nizigiyimana but his attempt was blocked by Sofapaka custodian David Okello. Olunga latched onto the loose ball to score. Olunga now has 16 goals but still four behind Jesse Were in the league scorers chart.

Well done Kogalo. Meanwhile Ingwe were thoroughly beaten by Ulinzi. No wonder Ingo is so depressed. Hasemi kitu

He he he …where is Ingo? Well done boys. Coach Nuttal is never short of ideas, rotating the team with admirable ease. With Abondo and Blackberry coming back to form, how I wish this league continued a little longer. INGWE walichapwa kama burukenge, 4 NIL loss is too much for a team of INGWE’S callibre……Sirkal saidia. You cannot let soldiers beat civilians like that!

beaten like burkenge…..@ingo my friend we are not laughing we are crying with you. you lost harambee money but don’t worry, I wish Ingwe players could have fixed the match. four goals would have help them a lot. That’s what I suspect now.

Which match @ingo is AFC fixing next…..I think tusker is a good one. but also remember muhoroni might have some cash

I agree Erico, Jerry has served the club with all his heart, he is part of the success we are enjoying today. Those vilifiying him are just insensitive and unfair to Jerry Jagoal.

So far so good for the team but remember that the pot breaks at the doorway. Let’s hope that it will not happen. Those vilifying Jerry could be the later-day convertees to Gor. That keeper has seen us through our darkest days when only the brave could go attend Gor matches. Like all human beings the sparkle dies after some time, either for good or for a specific period. And Jerry is no exception

  • memorable moments when jerry proved brilliant in my life:
    1. our game against tusker fc last week
    2. our away game against a west african team where jerry saved two dubious penalties in regular time and the extra time shoot-outs in which kogallo emerged victorious.
    3. our first leg encounter against ingwe in 2013 which kogallo won by a solitary goal but we were seemingly outplayed. this game was won because of jerry. this was the last time we beat afc leopards in a full-time open play.

whenever we notice some inconsistency emerging in a player, let us offer possible solutions like more training, loaning out to achieve playtime, fielding them in less competitive matches like go-tv tournaments or allowing them to join other clubs to get playtime.
a game of football can only expose the talent in an individual if the player appears regularly. show me the world’s best players or even the ones gor has ever had then you will realize that they recorded less than 5% of their careers on the bench.

Good effort by the team has given us joy all these years. Its good the Tech bench is not listening to the Jerry haters, they are the same people who booed BB at the start of the season but the coach kept faith with him..he’s picking up again!
